@@shadowdan1177 Kratos wasn't bloodthirsty and never used Spartan Rage, Freya couldn't kill Kratos after pursuing him for 3 years, and Atreus never used his wolf or bear powers against Odin. Meanwhile, Zeus knocked down both Gaia and a bloodlusted Kratos with a lightning bolt. Odin just wasn't convincing for me in terms of execution.

As for Atreus it’s true he didn’t use his animal forms but even without them his proven to be capable of facing Valkyries without them, he even gave a fight to Modi the God of wrath when he was younger. As for Kratos he didn’t use his rage but let’s not forget how much stronger he is when compared to his younger self, even while controlling his rage he is still far more powerful than when he was young. Odin actually bested both Kratos and Atreus in their first round, had in not been for Freyja it’s likely they wouldn’t have escaped Odin’s binding considering how powerful his magic and curses are. Also let’s not forget that Odin wielded Mjolnir without a sweat, even Kratos seems to have struggled to hold on to the Hammer. I know that the game doesn’t really show much of Odin’s powers because it prefers a more deceitful approach for him but the feats his shown are not to be underestimated

Freya wasn't really close to killing Kratos because the whole time all Kratos was doing is trying to avoid fighting her and she still couldn't do much to him. If Kratos was serious about fighting and killing her, he would do it without much trouble. Atreus killing Modi isn't much of a feat as Modi was already badly hurt and Atreus just stabbed him. Sure, Atreus has faced other powerful enemies, but the heavy lifting was done by Kratos. I just don't like the way Odin was portrayed here. This game feels more about telling than showing, which I personally found disappointing. When you see Greek gods such as Zeus or Poseidon, for instance, you feel the presence of powerful beings and they are executed better. I feel that with Odin, these developers simply tried to subvert our expectations for the sake of it, which ended up being a letdown in my opinion.

I think they did a good job of portraying Odin very accurately when compared to the myths. Despite being the ruler of the Aesir Odin isn’t really much of a warrior himself, he’s more of a wanderer that travel’s through the realms endlessly seeking knowledge to the point of obsession. He often uses his fragile appearance as an old man to trick his enemies into underestimating his capabilities. So I think that making him a silver tongue schemer that uses his fragile appearance and charisma to manipulate other into doing his bidding was the right call. Odin’s power comes from a his wits and cunning, and his ability to use and control others, very fitting for the God of wisdom, he can’t defeat Kratos in battle but he can outsmart him. And like in the myths ultimately it’s his desperate attempt to control his destiny that leads him directly to the path he tries to avoid, a very fitting antagonist for a game about change and letting go. But I get it maybe his fight wasn’t as epic and grandiose as Zeus, but I loved it, seeing Odin use every type of magic we’ve seen in the game against the player is just very neat since he is the Vod of Sorcery and he is always pulling tricks from under his sleeve. It’s a relatively easy fight when compared to other bosses but it was very fun for me personally but I understand if it’s not what you expected.
