Always wash your cotton garments before you get them tailored. You never know how much it will shrink.

Yes to frangrance!! Even when I'm in mysuper casual clothes, that hint of fragrance makes me feel better.
Patent leather: my mom always used a dab a vaseline, rubbed it in, wiped off the excess. She had real patent and she felt that it kept the leather moisturized and helped a bit with weather proofing. Hope this helps, Amanda!

TOTALLY AGREE! I always feel so much more put together with a signature scent of the day 🥰 I used to always wear the same one but in the past couple of years I've expended my collection and it's so fun to choose how I'm feeling each day through fragrance. And oh my gosh thank you for the tip! I am going to try my best to do a super deep dive into clothing care because I have a lot to learn and everyone has been so helpful! xo

My mom used a dab of vaseline as well. Sunday morning my sisters and I would make sure our Pat leather shoes looked shiny and nice! That was more than 50 years ago! It still works.

Way back to the 1950s vaseline was the go to for polishing and cleaning patent leather

The term Satin is a weave, not a fiber and the term is widely used for polyester fabrics nowadays. Originally, all satins were made of silk, but nowadays the term is used for any glossy-weave fabrics. Check the fiber content, if it isn’t 100% silk, don’t waste your money.

If I wear my perfume I spray it up into the air in my bathroom then dash through the mist. I feel good that Ihave it on but unless you are quite close, you cannot smell it. I never wear it to an appointment of any kind.

I just discovered you today. I subscribed and hit the notification bell.
Great tips on upgrading our look!
On the topic of clothing care. I do not heat dry any of my clothing except white footy socks. I know I am lucky to have a drying room, so to speak. I use the bedroom we converted to our grandson’s cabin room when come to visit us. The closet is where we store drying wracks, clothes pins, ironing board, an iron and steamer. After the wash cycle is completed I throw everything with the exception of trouser socks, underwear and bras into the dryer on the air fluff. The timer setting is 10 to 20 minutes depending on the density of the fabric. It really helps to fluff the heavy wrinkles out.
I hang most items on laundry racks or flat dry when needed. I hang my light cotton blouses on the velvet type hangers as well as slacks and jeans from the wire shelves. I do iron or steam my clothing.
Have you tried to re-wash your shrunken sweater and re-block and flat dry?
    You have nothing to lose.
I look forward to more of your videos.

Hi, I have just watched a lady who had shrunk a jumper.
In a basin, fill with lukewarm water, ginger and fabric conditioner or hair conditioner.
Fold garment and place in water solution. Leave over night.
Take garment out and squeeze to remove some of the moisture. Lay on a towel and take your time to stretch out.
    I hope this helps.

Hi Amanda, great video! Yes I do love a good fragrance 🤗I don't feel quite dressed without it! I'm also happy to hear gold is the go to metallic this year as I'm definitely a gold girl being a blond! My best care/ cleaning tip is for anything leather and it's bees wax furniture polish just spray leave a couple of minutes then wipe off and it looks like brand new again! Bees wax furniture polish also works for waterproofing (preferably new but will work on worn) suede boots/ shoes just evenly, lightly spray it on and leave to dry and your footwear will be waterproof, the only slight issue if the suede is very pale like cream or white it may come up a little bit darker, but your footwear will last a lot longer if you do this when first new 😊.
My other tip is for silver jewellery / trinkets silver plate etc you get a washing up bowl line the bottom of it with aluminium foil, put a good sprinkle of soda crystals into the bowl then add warm water then place all your silver jewellery etc in the bowl and leave for a while (30 minutes usually does it) take out, dry / polish with a cotton tea towel your silver will be beautifully shiny and look like new, if it is really badly tarnished/ gone black it may need a couple of goes to get it back to looking new, but it really works very well 🤗.
The last tip I have is for any white plastic handbags or hats use toothpaste to clean with a toothbrush or nail brush for bigger items cover with the toothpaste leave for a few minutes then wipe off with a damp towel. Back to white in a few minutes! 🤗

I learned the art of hemming pants from my mother who is an excellent seamstress from an era when many women learned this art. While I did not care for sewing, I did learn how to hem, which has been incredibly valuable. For those who are interested, UA-cam must have helpful lessons.

Best to use depillers while garment is flat and secure, such as laid out on ironing board or table. You show using depiller while holding garment in hands. You can depill right through the other side of the garment that way. Lay it flat and work carefully.

Please don't put Windex on your leather. That is ammonia. It may ruin your bag. To clean and polish leather, use leather cleaner. More often than not using a product meant for the material is the best route. The inverse is also true, using a product in a way not intended will cause damage. I can tell you put a lot of time in creating this video. Very helpful content. Thank you. Also nobody ever recommends scent, great point, thanks for that tip.

Hope you have a lovely day!

My mom died unexpectedly at 89 and aside from missing her as my mom and best friend, I miss her talents at the sewing machine. She did almost any work on a garment (always hemming since I'm 4'10") and made all my skirts.
I never did have a small waist and at 72 it's no better. If I wear a belt it's always paired with a jacket so no one knows that I don't have a small waist. Just something I'm sensitive about and although I have some great belts I still don't like to wear them.
I never had to wear my trench coat a lot in Florida (lived there for 70 years) but now that we're in Ohio I love it. I've thought about buying a wool coat but if I layer right (LOL, still getting used to that) and use the trench's liner then I've been ok so far.
I absolutely love fragrance but my brother (both of us are without spouses now and chose to live together when we moved to Ohio) has the world's most sensitive nose. Most of the time my Chanel No. 5 is ok with him but I have to be super careful (even with products I put on my hair). If I leave the house and want to wear another fragrance I put some of the perfume on a cotton ball and then put it on once I get in my car!
    The video was great!

Natural fabrics, appropriate texture , colour that suits the wearer, and tailored to fit is not boring. A smiling active face, appropriate footwear so move well gives the fluidity and dynamism which is not boring. Putting on some silly extra spoils the look.

I clean leather (belt, shoes, jacket, etc) with a quick spray of water with a bit of Murphy's oil soap mixed in. A dash of white vinegar is good to put in the spray bottle to keep it from making the leather sticky. Spray and wipe off any dirt or dust. smells good, too.
