This kid is insanely athletic, low key volleyball is a good sport to play during his offseason, it’ll keep him in shape with little contact against teams.
Nico is a beast, but he’s adjusting to all of his sets. If the setter just set it higher, then Nico would hit 10’s every time. Nonetheless, the fact that he’s getting kills consistently while adjusting is very impressive.
I know this is two years late but I'm going to give the perspective from someone who consistently played his team rockstar team almost every tournament and we won the majority of the time. Nico was a very good hitter and unlike the setter here, his club setter Nolan could set quick tempo. Nico was inconsistent at times with his hitting but if he got the right set, it was pretty much a kill. but our team would always target him on serving because he was an extremely rough passer. a lot of times he would get pinched out because of how bad his passing was. he was very competitive with volleyball too but more so football. he got offers for both sports but ended up choosing Tennessee
What the setter should do is set higher because when I’m watching this he’s doing great and has a lot of power all it needs is a high set to give him a good run up and high jump to get over those blockers
No, actually Nico needs to improve his whole approach and whine up leading to the actual spike. It's like he only going 50% each time. He can totally generate more power and become internationally elite. Setter and spiker is all about working with each other and understanding the set tempo.
I just searched him up because someone on video said he's the best player in the nation so I wanted to check him out but this guy below average for 6'6 he should never get block even if he's trying to use the block
I love football. I played football! I played on the same team as his High School coach (what up Steve). BUT I say make your money and leave football as soon as you can! Volleyball won’t destroy your body or brain the way football does! Ask his hs coach what football did for him!! Let me tell you we share ACL surgery scars, stories and permanent limping from playing football.
Weird question but how passionate about volleyball was that former teammate of yours back when you both played football? I find the transition between the two sports quite interesting.
@@pawwn2 No interest at all. I’m sure he’d tell Nico to play football but that’s because he’s still involved in Football (head coach Long Beach Poly) Nico won’t make the same kinda money playing volleyball so it’s a big question. With football the risk of it all ending in 1 play from injury are much higher. He has tons of talent. He’ll get paid either way. How much is the bigger question.
He's going to have to pick a sport soon as football and volleyball require very different conditioning that will shape his body as he reaches young adulthood
He tall and that’s probably what helps him the most. His vertical is average and the velocity on his spike is lacking. He may be a 5 star in FB but he’s be D2 as a VB player.
For a guy who’s 6’6….he’s below average for volleyball but for football maybe different considering I didn’t see him move as much only throwing from the pocket
@@willb4756 he's definitely good for high school but absolutely nothing outstanding in men's volleyball. Obviously this says nothing about his talent in football though
Passing needs work but swing looks elite for hs. I think he was one of the top players in the nation for volleyball at least when he was 16, probably can get in any program he wants and absolutely is welll above average if not one of the top 10 vb recruits out there.. not below here's some club highlights he can rip. ua-cam.com/video/92P9vGGPXqY/v-deo.html

After football, volleyball is every Samoans fav sport.

His ball control isn’t great for a OH1 but, you’re right, very powerful and can terminate at a pretty high clip.
bro half of the passes were out of system dont blame the setter

Agree he's kinda adjusting to every set
Good hitters adjust to every set sets aren’t always money
I agree, man needs a better setter, he’s tall and jumps high but sets are low and in consistent.
Facts, if the setting actually put it higher and tighter to the net, then Nico would hit 10’s everytime.

Not just a great qb seems to be very agile and athletic also.

Expected him to be maybe be middle but dude moves extremely well. Feel like he will be a legit qb.
@@jackreilly4427 bro is 6'5 defo not a middle
@@oscarpannell8875 6’5 is definitely tall enough to play middle in high school. Most 6’5 guys I know played middle in volleyball.

Keeps his reaction time sharp with adjusting to setter and ball placement against defense.
Makes me miss my volleyball days😞
He's my new fav vball player for sho..football QB too
I wish my high school would have had mens volleyball! Used to play beach and it’s so much fun!
Talented kid. I love volleyball
im ready do play yall again next year yall played well
i dont even remember my high school having mens volleyball. i had a 36" vertical i would have loved to play.
Good job .. when I was in high school at 5,9 I was all over top of the ball .. knocking guys out with my spike.. missing volleyball
Talented kid. Damn
This dude is literally top 3 player in the 2023 class and that’s football… do they rank volleyball players because he could be up there as well🙌🏾🙌🏾
He was a top 3 recruit in volleyball too for his class as a sophomore
nico reminds me of a more atheltic chris lewis who started in both volleyball and football for poly.

Other team can't make a dig to save their life, and he doesn't have any real block up on him. Not too hard to be a start without a block lol
his club team gave him good sets and certainly has an impressive swing, too bad his passing is sub par
Nah, My brother is better, has better mid line passes, better balance, better ball control, better digging passes.
