Space Science with Python - Part 1: Welcome Everyone!

- Welcome viewers to my newly created UA-cam channel, where I would like to provide some tutorials about using Python for Space Science. Using this programming language we will compute positions of planets, asteroids, will determine their brightness and predict the next Solar Eclipse. By using actual observational raw data (from telescopes and spacecraft probes) we will derive scientific insights. Later, we will also use machine learning algorithms to identify yet unknown structures in the data or classify huge dataset to improve the data preprocessing.
There is a lot to do and to learn and I hope you will join the journey. In the meanwhile, if you have questions or ideas, reach out to me via:

Talk to you later guys
I'm from Reddit, your project is great, man. Waiting for videos, this is awesome, keep going please!
P.S. Connection of space and python it is just a dream
Thanks! The next video will be released tomorrow and afterwards, after setting everything up, we will dive deep into the space topics! Looking forward to it and the exchange with the community!
I love the way you explain things very simply and straightforward. I'm a noob in this, and i could really understand your explanations. Thank you
I'm an aspiring data scientist who has always been super inspired to get involved in astronomy and finally felt like I had the skills to try and learn. Lo and behold, you have made the perfect playlist to help me achieve some personal dreams. Thank you
Thanks! I hope you enjoy it. Please check the GitHub repo. Someone with Python knowledge can easily dive into the code
This is awesome. Excited and waiting for the next video.
This is the channel I have been waiting for without even knowing it. Instant subscription! Thanks a lot! Great work.
Thank you Alexander! I hope you'll learn a lot and at some point conduct your space scientific research project :-)
Love It ! This playlist is a nice step from the "popular" video channels into the details. It's not easy, but real understanding never is. Thanks.
Hello Earl!
Glad you like it :-). If you have questions do not hesitate to write a comment and send me a DM via Twitter (twitter.com/MrAstroThomas)
Started an MS in CS program because I really want to pursue space science and I'm glad I came across your page :) look forward to the series! Thank you
Thankyou for this series, I am excited to learn from your videos. I am a high school science teacher so I look forward to sharing this with my students.
I stumbled upon your channel and this exacelty what I was lookin for!
Welcome :)! But be warned: the audio quality of my older videos is bad... Check also the code on GitHub + the more recent videos are a little bit better :)
Listening to you on Talk Python to Me podcast. 👍🏼 Subscribed
great intro,
excited for next video
keep going,
I wait for the next part :)
Thanks Amir! The next 2 video will be about "How to setup the programming environment". The first video will be the common approach with venv, Jupyterlab etc. The second one shows a more modern and easier approach using Docker.
@@Astroniz Thanks for answer :)
Thank you so much for all your videos!
Just saw your post on Reddit, I am SO excited to start on this series!
Thanks Daniel! Hopefully it will fulfill your expectations! Please send me some feedback, ideas, criticism so that I can improve :)
Amazing man! looking forward to watch all your playlist
👌love it to learn something limitless 🔥
I hope you'll like it!
@@Astroniz 🧡this is something never get bored , life is beautiful universe
Hello, Thank you so much for this. I was always facinated with space and I wanted to learn more about how my knowledge with programming can work with it. I'm eager to learn all you can teach :)
Thank You for a great content! Including Solary and others.
cool project 👍 found this channel via "Sterne und Weltraum" magazine news part ... searched something like this for some time, but unfortunately did not found you earlier. I will go through all vids now! thanks for your work!
Thanks :). Looking forward to your feedback!
Thank you so much for this! I’m excited to learn more 😀
I know Python and am almost ok with physics, but I have no technical knowledge about astronomy. Your videos are very motivating so I wonder if I could learn from this course and create something of worth or it would be too overwhelming for a noob like me.
Hey there. It's like any other data science project one tackles: one needs to know the data sources, the scientific background etc. But: pick one particular topic, let's say: meteors. It's an interesting field with a lot of data and literature. And there is the "International Meteor Organisation" where a lot am amateurs are active.
Hello, and thank you for this project. Can people with a beginner level of Python follow along with it?
Good question. I think you should have a basic understanding of Python, how to install stuff and maybe a few weeks of experience.
Give it a try! And let me know :)
Can you recommend any textbook for this project? I am excited to learn from your course!
Good question. I do not know any book that's highly related to this series. If you like, however, the link to machine learning and data mining, I'd suggest the book "Statistics, Data Mining, and Machine Learning in Astronomy: A Practical Python Guide for the Analysis of Survey Data" (second edition). They also created their own book-related library called "astroml". Hope that helps!
@@Astroniz cool, thanks for this tip 👍
greetings!!
Hey!
What link between factorio and this video made youtube recommend this to me?
the video i wanted nd needed
😍😍😍😍😍
You can do a face reveal after you show us Uranus
Oh my... 2500 subscribers and you are the first one who drops this joke. I tried to survive without hearing it 😩
