Wow. By the time the first box was in place inside the C2, the autoloader would have already finished, and no amount of extra crew would have helped. Looks like the autoloader times need some serious tweaking if CIG wants the ATLS to be used for anything other than RP.
I agree. I must say loading cargo is not a fun gameplay loop since the way the large boxes snap is way too inconsistent at the moment. So I help they fix or upgrade the way cargo snaps before changing loading times to make it a little less frustrating.
You may be the only person who doesn’t realize the ATLS is styled like the Power Loader from the Aliens movie. It’s not even a question where they got the design from. 😅
you are not loading the C2 correctly at all using the atlas. it takes me about 5-10 minutes to properly load the C2 using the atlas, the key, is you wanna first load the front section from the rear using the 24scu box's sideways, then brick load the 2 scu box's to complete the front grid, should take like 2-3 minutes if your decent with flick clicking the cargo box's in place. if your not, just keep practicing. the rear cargo grid, you wanna continue with the 2scu box's until all 16 are placed to make a wall, then collect the 32 scu box's and load them again sideways, bottom to top for each row all the way back. using the atlas, you should take at most 5-10 seconds to load a box from the elevator to the cargo grid. the key to loading quickly, is to call up the right box's to load first. first is the 24 scu box's, load them, call up the 28 2scu box's, load them, then the rest of the 32 scu box's. if you use this method of loading, you'll be able to solo load a C2 very quickly. if your doing contracts, you wanna load the bigger box's first and try to load the smaller boxes last, so that your cargo grid can be neat and organized. nothing mess's up loading like having to re-pick up a box to make room to place another box. however, i do recommend for commodity traders, to use the auto loading feature. the loading tips is for people doing contract hauling.
First off, love the video! Great to see this kind of testing~ My issue with this is that auto loading is so fast because the "game magic" is that a crew of people are loading your ship, hence the really fast time. I would love to see this test with a properly crewed C2 as it is intended to be operated. With engineering coming and all the changes, solo play on larger and larger ships will be less viable. I think the C2 is intended for 3 people? Would be interested to see how it fares with all people running Tractor beams, all people running the ATLS, and a mix of ATLS and Tractor beams, because I don't think this shows the full picture. Also what was the loading cost? How much of the profit was lost in this run in exchange for time? Im sure as a solo its worth it, but will a proper intended crew size make up for this huge disparity. and again I LOVE the video, and think you did a great job.
Last time when I tested the loading cost it was 20k to load but that was in the PTU when I tested just the tractor beam vs autoloading. I think 3 people loading will probably cut the time in half or more. I would say the tractor beam is much better at loading and snapping the cargo to the grit to the C2. So I would think 1 ATLS and 2 tractor beams loading would be the fastest way to load a ship with 3 people operating it. BTW great recommendation! I didn't even think to include it in the test
I think the MULE was designed for shipping across distance where ship flight was not an option. So Distro Centres and such. Though that might not be how it was sold from memory and the pics and vids.. So yeah, needs some heavy rethinking
lol i was thinking it was a video about the Mule... It's not a bad vehicle but more for beginners as it can carry 6 packages and 1 scu. Good for bunkers if you go on an hostile one with drugs.
@@FusionThunder Lol the Mule was designed for cargo hauling, but the best use of the Mule is actually covert halo drop insertion into places like Ghost Hollow :D
comparing a plain full C2 manual vs automatic doesnt really make sense anymore. Now you can make choices like maybe its worth it to only move 600 scu because you dont have to move smaller boxes and think about loading configurations. Max SCU because a lot less relevant imo and now you can actually optimize the process.
Autoload times are way too short but people whine and whine. Honestly you know what would be even faster? You press a button and instantly get money. But where would be the fun in that? Physical cargo is part of the gameplay. It is what makes it more interesting. You know how boring space trucking is in E:D?
But how am I supposed to ever earn enough aUEC to buy another ship if it takes 50 mins to load my C2. Cargo was a fun gameplay loop before this update. This ruined that experience. I'm perfectly fine with short auto load times so I can actually play the game. If it were done the right way, we would be moving palletized loads (hover trolleys) with multiple cargo boxes. Being in the Army in a Chinook unit, I've dealt with moving cargo a lot as a crewmember. It doesn't take all day to load up an aircraft like it does with star citizen. This is the future with magical snap in place technology. We are using traditional cargo straps and chains to strap down loads which takes more time. Either way we can unload it quicker than loading, in no time at all. This update badly needs hover trolleys that can be preloaded with cargo boxes
@@Christfollower89 if you just take out the 2scu boxes you loose less than 10% of your capacity but have nealy 50% less boxes to move. Also, noone forces you to use a C2, now there is actual consideration needed if moving less of a more valuable good in a smaller ship might be a better option. Just because you cant do what you did before doesnt mean you cant do the gameplay you did before
@@Christfollower89 then you wont do cargo missions. I think it was always very clear that magic cargo loading and unloading would disappear and now it did. If that ruined the game for you that sucks, but thats just how it will be. For me it enhanced the game massively, you can never please everyone
@@mlsasd6494 if it was added in a way that made since, then it would be great. Unfortunately the Devs are clueless to how logistics works with aircraft. The company picking up the cargo has everything palletized to make movement safe and easy to move in bulk. It's not like shipping containers on cargo ships. It should be based on 747's, C-17's and C-5's; not maritime shipping port operations. That only works for the MISC Hull Series
Why add the time of summoning the atls and ship? That would really only happen your first time, and you can retrieve the atls at the asop terminal before going to your hangar. You can then keep it stowed off to the side or on the ship, and you can summon your ship with the asop afterward if it is stored. I feel like that would shave off quite a bit of time. The autoload does need balancing, though.

Haha I went to google it and now I can't unsee it
I really didn't expect it to be slower than the maxlift tractor beam
😂 I think the way boxes snap and the figgty ness of snapping is the problem
And maxlift don't have battery yet
lmao i skimmed through the video and landed at 7:49 and he sounds so defeated.
I was really defeated haha I struggled. It was not a fun experience
The fastest way I found is staying inside the cargo bay and grabbing from a distance with the cargo loader
make auto loading take longer time and be free and put a casino input an auction house to bid on supplies, something to do while you wait
They take the reference from mech tractor in Alien 2
You're right! I just googled it and looks almost exactly the same

Wasn't the Mule a loading machine, what ever happened to the Mule? Seems like now should be its time but sadly it does nothing
The mule needs to be redesigned in my opinion. It's currently just an expensive jpeg

Why does the mule not have a tractor beam. Get rid of those useless claws.
The mule can't even really lift a box...yet
With practice it will get faster, takes me 35min with just a normal tractor beam to load that ship, with Atlas took me 24min

I cant bring myself to try cargo with the janky inventory system. And Pyro being canceled foe the 5th time I will wait for 4.0 another 5 years
where exactly did you get that Pyro was cancelled? :D
