@ all ranting Indonesians there, Rendang is a Minangese dish, and Minangese people lives in BOTH Indonesia (West Sumatra) and Malaysia (Negeri Sembilan), they migrated from sumatra to peninsular malaysia at the 16th-17th century, when the king of Pagaruyung established a vassal state in Negeri Sembilan, and installed his relatives as the kings of Negeri Sembilan, so it's not Malaysia claiming Indonesian dish because the dish itself predates the existence of both countries

I strongly believe that the aga-aga of the Malays is the "igo-igo" of the Cebuano-Visayans. Literally "igo-igo" means "enough enough" which is practically determined by the cook. No measurement or exact quantification. It is just all up to the chef or cook. Love and respect for this lady from the Philippines!
Not so wrong there, but 'agak-agak' also means "to guess" or "to use one's judgment". So Malaysians use the word "agak-agak" in many other forms of communications and not necessarily just for cooking methods 😊

@ all ranting Indonesians there, Rendang is a Minangese dish, and Minangese people lives in BOTH Indonesia (West Sumatra) and Malaysia (Negeri Sembilan), they migrated from sumatra to peninsular malaysia at the 16th-17th century, when the king of Pagaruyung established a vassal state in Negeri Sembilan, and installed his relatives as the kings of Negeri Sembilan, so it's not Malaysia claiming Indonesian dish because the dish itself predates the existence of both countries

reza iskandar if you said so then Rendang are basically Minangese dish and their origin place are in West Sumatera who apparently in Indonesia territory.

Gordon Ramsay Learns How To Make A Beef Rendang In Malaysia | Gordon's Great Escape (GONE SEXUAL)
I remember my dad teaching me to cook and I just gave up on asking times and amounts because you learn to do it and get a feel for it. I used to get really stressed about it. now I'm teaching my boyfriend to cook Indonesian food, he gets stressed. and I just loved gordon ramsay minding it. it's just the way to do it.
That’s really how a good cook prepare their dishes. If you’re good you don’t rely on recipes, you see the amount of beef or chicken you’re going to cook and just calculate the perfect balance amount of onions and other ingredients. People who master this can cook without even tasting and the dish will come out as delicious as usual. That kind of intuition connects you the cook with the dishes you’re preparing.
But thats also how recipes are lost to time
I love how he always wants to learn and puts his ego of being such a top chef aside. Truly an inspiration
