Sibelius's 7th Symphony is like a magical journey for your ears. It grabs your heart and soul, leaving a lasting impression. It's a love story with music that fires up your imagination, showing the incredible power of classical art. Simply put, it's amazing. I just can`t stop listening to it.
I’ve always gone back to the Karajan/Berlin/DG (1967), but this is a truly beautiful performance! Possibly a new favorite? Another that I like, a very unlikely one, is the River Oaks Chamber Orchestra (ROCO), which I’d never heard of before.
No se si soy yo, pero percibo ésta sinfonía como mucho más íntima y personal. Aunque el estilo de Sibelius es bastante accesible en general (con la excepción de la cuarta sinfonía), percibo que ésta obra es más misteriosa y enigmática.
I've always thught the 7th the greatest of Sibelius's symphonies. 'Sublime' doesn't really cover it. I can understand why he didn't compose another symphony after this. A very apt photograph of the great man.
Aside from some personal circumstances, I think Sibelius decided that he had written all that he needed to write in terms of Symphonies (and works in general for that matter). The final moments of this symphony to me are certainly a worthy farewell.
He did write another symphony (No 8) but just before his death burnt it as he felt it didn`t meet his high expectations. He actually wrote " if I cannot finish this one work it will have all been in vain".
@@colinreid3544 The trombones are famous in this, they produce three great utterances, each bigger than the last, with that downward arpeggio descending into the depths, that form sort of a spine of the piece, with a bigger climax each time it returns.

Amo ésta obra...la perfección hecha sinfonía.

There are few symphonic statements to rival this. Spine tingling from start to finish.
I didnt want it to end
Just immediately start Bruckner's 7th after this 7th ends...

Yes there was an 8th symphony that he'd made a start at...nobody is sure how much of it was ever completed...
Magnifique !
I am here from Twosetviolin and because I live in Minnesota!
Lol so many Scandinavians in Minnesota :)
excellent!
Nana?
Is it just me or towards the last movement, it reminds me of the story of Romeo and Juliet. Like their suicide scene

The final third of his life has been called "The Great Silence."
I prefer "A Big Fat Waste," whispered through gnashing teeth.
