big respect to any photographer who shows their first work. That shit is not easy and is quite humbling.

Key words, "keeping photos timeless" that makes you really think of how you really want to shoot and edit. Good stuff here

I never thought about that until he said it. Good practice to go by

"It's very difficult to get out and shoot consistently..." couldn't agree more.

It's all a matter of training and hard work every day. Many people envy other talents believing they were born with them... A simple excuse. Photography, like any other area of life
requires trials, sacrifice, sleepless nights and of course spending a lot of money. The masters of their fields are those who preferred to study instead of wasting time on silly activities.
Samuel, your work is great. Keep it up!

This video is full of Value 👌 In a world full of trends, it’s very important to develop your own style or voice. People will find more value in someone who is trying to share their own original ideas or their own perspective than watching someone else’s copy.

Thank you for continuing to be a massive inspiration, Sam! I love how humble you still are as well, so many photographers wouldn't show the first photos they took over fear of being judged or not seen as professional. Keep killing it!

hot take: photography trends arent changing as much as photographers are just getting better and refining their craft. so many unique styles and trends in different photography genres. its so cool

So much value in this video. I myself have had a hard time finding out what I will like to shoot and what stuff I shoot because of a trend or likes - but as you say in the video, it all about just going out there shooting and then naturally you will find what kind of photography you truely enjoy.
You´re a huge inspiration, been following you since your PNW days.
    Love from Denmark

Excellent video, Sam. Always nice to hear a photographer openly talk about some of their favorite work not being their most popular or well received but still the work that personally inspired them as a creator.

I think you made a really good point when you said that you can photograph different genres but apply your own style to it which eventually still leads to a consistent portfolio. Personally, I think this is the best way to be identified and recognized as an artist. Not by your genre, your color grade, etc. but really by your style.

I concur with all you said . When I look back to when I began , I tried everything and slowly , I gravitated to something I was only half aware of and which I would describe as social environmental . This enables me to combine my love of nature and people to record images that appear timeless . I enjoy sitting in a coffee shop and working the scene as inconspicuously as possible .
I regularly produce o photo books each year for the family and the grandchildren love them. It is so easy to shift from street to landscape and capture the grandchildren in the park or whatever. The phone has been invaluable because it is always with us. The children forget the camera and will only give you a few minutes and the moment passes. I have caught their expressions in toy shops and at home when occupied in something .
In short, it is taking pictures as often as you see something and that comes from training your eye to see. You do not always react or able to with young children to look after , but they are a great distraction to cause others to ignore you and that helps to acquire something special .
Photography is a great way to meet people and strike up a conversation , especially if you love to talk ha ha.
Finally - the gear doesn’t matter . It is all just fantastic and capable of producing timeless master pieces to treasure .
Thank you for sharing this with us.
