I really like my X12 Plus 7 inch. I bought a 32 GB TF Card and loaded over 200+ GBA ROMs on it. I even bought a longer extension for the AV output and hooked it up to my 60 inch flatscreen TV. It is a awesome little device for Retro gamers like me! 😎👍

@@bradsnow1337 I did the same i had my personal game GBA. Be sure to had *.gba files not the *.zip files (unzip the files).
Does it run ps1 games pretty well?
Sometimes you just have to be the kind of person to enjoy these devices for their own nifty bits and minimal strengths.
I ordered a freaking Ouya console after seeing Rerez's review of it, even knowing its specs and all, and already having lots of Chinese handhelds and all (including a lot of the X and MP series). I'm just a sucker for this stuff.

If this was released fifteen years ago it would have been the bomb. Nobody would have minded the emulation errors because "that's the trade off when we play TV games on this tiny thing!"

Only now specially in 2022 it's totally destroyed by the compition. If they upgraded the software and everything runs good that would bring it to the nextr level of budget handhelds.

A bit higher priced, but try checking out the Android based handhelds. Some are around a hundred bucks but have decent enough specs. I have a JXD Singularity which admittedly is way overpriced, but there are similar looking devices with much cheaper pricing.
If you're looking for the most obvious and definite improvements, the Android based ones are the way to go.
There are other OS's of these devices, some Linux based like the X2 and the PS7000, but these usually aren't quite as good as the Android based ones.

theres something about having d-pads, buttons and thumbsticks for gaming that makes this more comfortable than using my brand new iphone

For some reason mine always does a 'generating playlists' when booting and it takes a really long time. Is there a way to turn that off? It didn't seem to do it in the video
That's your device's way of saying it's updating its file content, usually meaning you've added something to it recently or it generated additional software files based on your previous actions such as gameplay generating sgm files and all.
There's no way to disable this function. Just be glad this isn't one of the really old devices; my first ever X6 got stuck permanently on the Generating Playlists screen and never recovered, but my newer ones never had that error. So at least the firmware has been somewhat updated.

I would be willing to pay 100 or maybe 150 bucks if it did exactly as we hope it would. anything after that and you might as well just invest it in a better cell phone or tablet that can handle better emulation.
Get you a Retroid Pocket 3 with 3gb ram. It can play up to gamecube games.

No it doesn't. It can't even run n64 games
The only affordable device with a large screen that can run PSP/PSX/N64/Dreamcast is is the O Droid Go Super.
And I think the new software can support DS as well. It's 90 on Amer-I-something site after taxes and shipping 110 compared to Hardkernal which is 80 plus 40 shipping pee taxes and ebay/amazon starting at 150.
The next device that can probably got further up to PS3 and Gamecube iirc is GPD, but it is $250 or more.
They have devices that can emulate PS3, etc but they're like 900 or more.
The ps vita can emulate all those when jailbroken

When I switch mine on, it goes through the screenshots of games, and then just goes black screen. Doesn't load the dashboard. Is there something I need to do/press to be able to use!?

Bought this a few weeks ago. Very confusing interface and difficult to use
I bought one at a local auction for $100 bucks, rip off bigtime as one downside I can note, I don't believe mentioned in this review was that this thing does not load sav files from the roms you play, so if you love playing games with post game content such as Pokemon, sorry. Unless someone can tell me of a means that works to get those files to work.
You're correct, as it uses a different emulator so it isn't compatible with those old files.
But I think the SNES emulator is an older version of ZSNES maybe, and it's possible those files might be compatible with these devices.
it's simultenously really shitty and awesome at the same time. i mean, on the whole it kinda sux and YET it's waaaay better than i would've ever expect at 50$ price point o.O

how did you install / set up the ps1 roms? I had an error which said "gamestartup!failed". do you need both .bin and .cue or just .bin?
Use IMG files... only don't bother they run like crap 💩

For $50, its perfect for trips and flights where if it gets lost at least I'm not out a huge amount of money.
I played these sort of games 25 years ago in Arcade machines and if you said you could have a small device with a colour lcd screen and thousands of games and plays video and music and other things, that would be though impossible and for a few chinese dollars too!!

One thing you should know is the NES games all play at super speed. Some of them are so fast they're unplayable
Awful d pad and awful sound emulation...easy pass. The only upgrade is the shell.
It would be better for these cheaper consoles to not even try to play the more energy consuming PS1+ types of games and just stuck to the 8/16/64 bits and mame.

Fix the D-pad, upgrade the internals and spend more than 6.5 minutes optimising the software before selling it and I think it'd be a nifty little hand held.

I ordered one of these but I'm having an issue with it; it only works with the USB charger plugged in.
If flipping the switch back and forth on top isn't letting your device stay on, it's possible it could have disconnected from the circuit board and frozen I the off position permanently.
If this is the case, try opening up your device and pulling out the power switch. Even after disabling that thing completely, you'll still be capable of shutting down the device by holding the power button for a few seconds.
Anybody knows how to make it work on a tv...I go to settings and find tv output but it doesn't do nothing but give me a black screen on the console

Hi does this console have a turbo button? The old one I bought doesn't have one. And can we actually save gba games?
There are no built in turbo buttons, nor can you map turbo.
Saving is possible as save states only (six per ROM). Saving a game normally will not keep the data; every time you re-enter the game with the Restart function, everything gets reset.
You did not mentioned that you can map buttons for each game and change display ratio!
Thats something every X series console has, but yeah, he should have mentioned it
@@michellefernandez3155 mine does not. Its x12 red and blue and I can't set the buttons. So many are messed up. All gba had no L or R buttons

Still need to go further with testing of the X series.
In general they are all having the same choppy software keep that in mind.

@@entiar1 Thanks, i figured that might be the case but after seeing heaps of vids reviews on the chap chinese players, these use a dual core such as the X12 plus and to play these retro and PSP and better you need at least a 4 core and i decided on the PS7000 best of the cheapies and same as the pow kiddy with performance . it has quad core and only then you go to hundreds with name brand 8 cores and very smooth no frame drop on all games. The PS7000 has only a non IPS screen but it controls , and all else seem to be very good and battery too and the pow kiddy less so, but rieally good IPS screen.
You get what you pay for generally and these you tube vids , you can see all the diff ones and good and bad points and the purist really want good D's and buttons and even hdmi output ; ease of use , so lots to learn , but i not sure of durability as inside the chinese ones are a bit slapdash on electronics and soldering compared to quality brands.
@@xx3868 i used PS 7000 too. Yes İTS the best in china retro handhelds. i dont count anbernic . İts too expensive. But ps7000 İTS bit bulky. 7 inch.
@@entiar1 yes theres PS5000 but i went with the biggest just so movies would be big enough too, sort of "tablet" with endless games. I actually been looking around for "cybersled" from 1993 and i dontt think its on any of these chinese lists of retro games, so if you know about that or where to get it download as i dont know anything about those" rom" sites to download more games? thanks.

Nice review!! Does it include wifi? It says it has a browse function and I'm not sure it works.
Browse is a misleading title. Despite the fact that some of these devices even put an Internet Explorer icon over that label, they never have WiFi capability. Browse always means browsing the files on the device and SD card.
Personally I can't see much use for it, unless you want to delete game save files and whatnot since they're invisible in the game menus.
I use it on my Coolbaby RS-11 (despite the completely different name format, it's a system very much like this one) when playing videos so that exiting a video takes me back out to the video list, instead of throwing me all the way back to the main menu like the video menu does.

ended up getting one and its pretty bad. cant run ps1, n64 or most GBA games. SNES games run too fast and are unplayable. Only good for Genesis/Megadruve really...even then its a little suspect. the analog sticks are atrocious! One game i reallt wanted to play was the original Mortal Kombat on Megadrive, which loads up well and runs good but i cant get any buttons to work to start the game, very frustrating.
I recently purchased this. Firmware Version is 1.1.10.230612.
There were quite a few NES games that did not work, and I did not understand the conditions under which CPS and MAME would work, so my dissatisfaction with this console grew, and I ended up purchasing a PS7000😠

I have 10 of these and the V90 is my favorite. I use it to play GranTurismo and N64 games mostly + 16bit shining force 1 and 2
