Mostly the big difference comes down to the weight (Ultraglide is lighter) and the drop (XA Pro is steeper) with the shoe. The lug depth is the same. Salomon also states the cushioning the Ultra Glide 2 is considered more maximal.
Have you run in version 1 and if so thoughts on how the two compare? I have version 1 and while I enjoyed them in 2001/2002 I found myself reaching for the Hoka Evo Speedgoat more often. The Speedgoat 5 and Tecton X version 1 are my current go to trail shoes although I find myself running on roads more than trails…need to work on that
No, I never did get v1 of the Ultra Glide. Yeah I’d def love to compare the Speedgoat 5s but I never picked those up and I expect to see Hoka rolling out the 6 within the next few months since it’s been well over a year. Tecton X looks legit. Might have to pull the trigger and get that one in the interim. If @Hoka_TV wanted to send me any shoe to test I would happily do a comparison between the Ultra Glide 2 and the one they send but I cannot see that happening 🤣
@@timetorunchannel I got an email today from Salomon for their 60% off Uber Deal of the Day - Ultraglide version 1 for $56. Hard to find good trail shoes at that price in case you want to nab a pair. The reviews make version 2 to seem like a definite improvement in a few areas but that $56 price! 😱
Snow and ice has to be the Salomon Spikecross 5 GTX. The foam is a little stiffer but after about 20 miles of breaking in that midsole I’m happier taking it out for long runs in inclement weather. The Speedcross is the same outsole, except doesn’t have the metal spikes, and there is a goretext version too.
@@timetorunchannel when it comes to width, I tried UG2 in a shop and to me they were very accomodating in the toe box (quite snug in the heel and forefoot) how You will compare speedcross 6 to UG2 when it comes to fit / toebox width ?
Found your video whilst looking for the Ultra Glide 2 review. They feel good out of the box and I went for my usual running shoe size however, after doing 13 miles in them I have had issues with both my fourth(ring toes) do you have any suggestion on how to stop this from happening or do you think I should have sized up? Thanks in advance and I appreciate any suggestions ❤
Hi Shiela! Glad you found the review and thanks so much for the kind words! Also, great question. Mine’s a pretty snug fit and being that I don’t have the issue you’re describing I wonder, as you stated, that maybe your pair is a half size too small. However, if they’re actually on the slightly larger side, one thing I might try, if the laces are still comfortable when you synch them down more, to prevent your foot from moving too much (if there is internal movement). Also I would try a different pair of socks. Sometimes I like certain socks depending on the shoes. I really like Injini toe socks in particular with these shoes. Lastly, if you’re able to exchange them from where you bought them I’d be optimistic that it would solve your problem. Like you said, they could be too small. That’s what I would attempt to do next at least. Hope that helps.
@@timetorunchannel wow thanks for a very informative respond. Unfortunately I can’t exchange them anymore as I have already worn them but I could try and use a different socks atleast and see how that goes. Honestly it did feel like my feet was moving a bit (slipping) inside the shoes which I thought was narrow. I would definitely give it another try with a different socks and it that still doesn’t work then I can sell it online for someone to get the best of it.
Love the input and perspective, thank you for your wonderful review ❤
Absolutely!! Thanks for mentioning it!
Great review! Been thinking if I should try this one.
Thanks Cody! Yeah this one is 🔥
How do they fit compared to the XA Pro model?.

Bloomsday finisher shirt 👍
Hell yeah! Had to sport it 😄
Great video 👍
Thanks @jannisditsche1005! Glad you found it helpful!

Placing the laces in the pocket is not easy because pocket is blocked by the laces
Just posted a video regarding this:

Did you run the regular width or wide?
I ran in the regular fit
