Tourist luck??!!? 🤣 Totally awesome video man! You don’t get that kind of a response every day, especially in Japan. Gotta say those vehicles in Sapporo are really good looking.
hahah thanks XD Does it count if I don't work/live in this area, but it happens to be along the subway line of my commute back home on a Friday evening? There might be only 7-10 fire calls in the entire Sapporo on average each week (there was none today, Sunday), so I'm very aware how lucky I was, as this station also had another fire call the night before. Then they had zero calls (apart from ambulance calls) that required fire engines for the whole day up until this. Most days, this station may only average a single call that requires a fire engine to turnout. The rescue and platform truck can also go days without a call. Some smaller stations (one pump, one ambulance) like the one closest to my apartment, can go up to 3 days without the fire engine turning out. Sapporo (and Hokkaido to an extent) really do have brighter and larger trucks compared to what you find down in places like Tokyo or Osaka. Most of them also have beefier tires, and are raised out of the factory for the winter/snow. Sapporo averages almost 500cm of snowfall each winter, Toronto only 150cm for comparison. Some days the snow comes down fast, and a lot accumulates pretty quickly. The new platform truck was the main draw/target for me, followed by the new unique pump (only one with this design in Sapporo), and the rescue as it's due to be replaced by the end of the year. As you can tell, I'm rather happy to have caught them all in one go.
Even without knowing local protocols and circumstances, I can feel how rare this is. Damn I don't even know what to comment, congrats I guess? Lol That rescue is really something else too, I like the body style! I have a feeling it's probably gonna be replaced soon lmao
haha thanks! yea :/ Sapporo and Hokkaido loves their tri-axle trucks. This one is due to be replaced by the end of the year, all the new rescue trucks that have came in the past few years have been back to a more conventional double axle design.
