Incredible!!!! This was great to see from beginning to end. Thank you so much for sharing.
I studies, up until recently, samurai Ju Jitsu for 14 years. My instructor sadly died nearly 3 years ago now which still hurts to think of now. Anyway, when I got my black belt he gave me a statue, as it turns out it’s that exact one. Very special for me to see this episode.......thank you.
Fantastic. Aden's sculptures should be in a gallery because they are works of art.
This is one of the most amazing things I have ever seen! You are truly an Artisan. Simply amazing!!
Love seeing the process from block of foam to full figure

Лучшая Ваша работа. Благодарю за ваше творчество.
unbelievable. so good
Subscribed. So nice to see a UK studio putting their experience up on UA-cam. Please tell me to Eff off and mind my own business but that is a hell of a lot of solid Napalm B you guys whittle away at on a daily basis, hope no one smokes in there....or even coughs really hard...or eats chillis. In fact taking a redner and having flushed cheeks could start a fire with that amount of powdered fuel. Any way..superb.
simply stunning

Sir, what kind of stuff has been used in the model? Just tell me good luck
I would love to work there
By any chance was this sculpture used in the final season of The Man in The High Castle because it looks exactly like it. If that is the case, so ironic because I saw your video just a week before I started the final season in the 4th episode. I admire your work and I aspire to sculpt as well as you. Thank you for the videos I have truly learned so much.
I am very interested in your work I am an artist living in Jamaica I would love more information about how to apply the resin on the styrofoam
If you use epoxy resin it won't eat the foam. So no need for 'sticky tinfoil' (aluminum HVAC duct tape). Use Extruded styrofoam instead of expanded, so you can carve in really fine detail from the beginning. Use a wire wheel on an angle grinder to remove alot of foam at once, then a welder's wire brush for the medium detail, instead of a knife...lots faster/easier.
Then, if you thin epoxy resin with denatured alcohol, you can spray it on with an automotive spray gun (which needs to be cleaned immediately afterwards). Several coats should eliminate the need for fiberglass cloth. If brushing it on mix small amounts at one time. Use cheap 2" paint brushes so you can throw them away. Use truck bedliner for the black top coat. Then follow the dry-brushing techniques shown in this video.
Make sure when you are copying your samurai statuette you don't overlook obvious details, such as his chin and neck.
what kind of glue you stick aluminum foil to polystyrene thanks
Hey Daniel, we actually use a sticky back adhesive foil. We often get asked about this. Give us an email if it's something you'd like to try: aden.hynes@hotmail.com

@@AdenHynesSculptureStudios thank you

I want to learn
good job i like it
good day sir im an artist too from philippines if you allow me to work in your studio it would be much appreciated to enhance more my talent and to know from your studio.
u are amazing bro ...
Hi what type of Styrofoam are you using? Do you use HDU Foam? Great work guys!
Hi Reuben. This is just a standard bead polystyrene, as the detail is achieved after the carving is complete and after the fibreglass is applied, so a high density bead foam wasn't necessary for the carving process on this job. Thanks very much for watching :)
eps foam(expandable polystyrene)
thats cool..
The armor as depicted is very inaccurate. For example the "skirts" are armor, and would be rigid, not flowing as depicted. The neck guard on the helmet would be fuller. He would also wear a face protector called amempo and a throat guard.. The sash as you call it is more a belt that was padded, and some had armoring inside. Japanese used a lot of clothing that had armoring sewn inside them, as well as outside.
Hey Stephen, thank you for the comment. Our brief was to simply copy the small model that our client provided. We've no doubt all of what you say is true, however, as commercial artists, that is what our client wanted!
Dear Aden Hynes Sculpture Studios, is it a sticker thin foil? or you need glue to stick it? thank you
I'm also styro foam sculptor ca i join to your team sir
hello sir what kind of stiker you use?
nasir khalid stiker? What is a stiker?
If you mean the sticky back foil, it's a product we get here in the UK. Message us for more details, and we can see if they are available in your country
sorry for spelling mistake. what kind of sticker you use at polystyrene for fiberglass
nasir khalid we use a silver foil that has an adhesive sticky back to it. Not sure if it's available outside of the Uk
thank you for your kind response. I live in" Pakistan" lahore.
