I won one of these as part of a "raffle giveaway" in 2005 when I was a broke college student. The convenience store at the student union on campus held a several weeks-long (maybe even months) giveaway raffle. The only way to enter was to complete a "loyalty card" of stickers (ten?). You get 1 sticker each time you buy a cup of soup from the convenience store. I was dead set on winning myself a free iPod, so every day for weeks I had a cup of soup for lunch. After I won the giveaway, I was ecstatic! Only to find out that I was basically the only person who'd entered the raffle. HAHA! But I didn't care cuz now I had a FREE iPOD!!! Which I still own till this day. Only need to fix it up...
Honestly I don’t see how designing packaging that has to have a bunch of stuff printed off for it and has to be shipped probably separately and otherwise for everything else you used to get in the box is any better for the environment. If they included the adapter and headphones they wouldn’t need to print separate boxes off for those.
its funny cause the cardboard table is where the dock is supposed to be on the high storage models (that actually came with a dock), so they used the same box for all ipod sizes.
This reminds me of phones back then, Back in the old days you get not only a charger, not only a USB cable, NOT ONLY EARPHONES, BUT ALSO A FREAKING CABLE TO HOOK UP YOUR PHONE TO A TV (Nokia N95)
I actually bought a BRAND NEW 4th Gen (HP) iPod with YEARS of lawn mowing money. I’ll never forget the absolute decadence of peeling the protective tape off of it. Those old iPods scratched just from the air surrounding them.
!!!!! Fun video! My first iPod was an iPod mini (not sure if it was first or second gen), my mom bought it for me between 2004-2005, took it every day to middle school, and I loved that thing. I used it for years until it stopped working and my mom bought me an iPod touch first gen (or maybe second gen), it was so groundbreaking and awesome back then.
I bought the 3rd Gen, new! This was before 3rd-party accessories so basically *everything* came in the box! Dock, in-line remote, charger. It was expensive but you got your money’s worth!
Look at it this way. You didn’t “devalue” it. You valued every second of opening it. If it just sat you wouldn’t have had as much enjoyment. Plus we only live once so if it just sat on a shelf when you’re gone it’s going to be thrown away or in someone else’s hands, so it’s not going to matter in the end. Enjoy it

I got my 5th gen in 2005 and it’s still chugging along with a new battery and SD mod. It came in a box that wasn’t cartoonishly huge, though.
@@CantankerousDave Mine came in a huge box but it came with a little case, a dock, charger and cable, and an inline remote/cord extension. My 6th gen was in a tiny box with a cable. I honestly missed getting all the accessories.
Baller episode this week! Everytime I open a special factory sealed package I have to get a whiff of the original factory smell. Am I weird? What is 19 year old Apple factory stink like?
When everyone is striking packaging in their products for the "environment", seeing products packed with accessories is refreshing
Honestly I don’t see how designing packaging that has to have a bunch of stuff printed off for it and has to be shipped probably separately and otherwise for everything else you used to get in the box is any better for the environment. If they included the adapter and headphones they wouldn’t need to print separate boxes off for those.
You can be not wasteful and also include accessories. The wasteful part is all the little plastic bits you immediately throw away.
did anyone else see the patron called Back to the Future?
Remember, DON'T STEAL MUSIC.
Dont copy that floppy
I would download a car
I have an illegally download of scarlet fire .mp3 because I used a yt to mp3 download
its funny cause the cardboard table is where the dock is supposed to be on the high storage models (that actually came with a dock), so they used the same box for all ipod sizes.
First
Well done
holy shit for once the first comment is actually first
Nice
Real
Nobody cares
Dank showing MPB some love, funny to see how people in other countries sometimes value Brazilian music more than Brazilians
This reminds me of phones back then, Back in the old days you get not only a charger, not only a USB cable, NOT ONLY EARPHONES, BUT ALSO A FREAKING CABLE TO HOOK UP YOUR PHONE TO A TV (Nokia N95)
Yeeah we had one but Never used it. How was the quality?
No offense Mr. Dank, I really do love all of your content, but THIS is why I love you and your channel 😍
1:40 ahhhh 2019 and 2020 dankpods videos makes me shed a tear every time I watch them. So much nostalgia.
Actually the 1.4 GB "lost" are due to formatting the drive.
I always love to see the sexy voice Bluetooth speaker make an appearance in a dank video
I actually bought a BRAND NEW 4th Gen (HP) iPod with YEARS of lawn mowing money. I’ll never forget the absolute decadence of peeling the protective tape off of it. Those old iPods scratched just from the air surrounding them.
I feel like it's in the spirit of the channel to have the unboxing DankPods has been looking forward to so much for so many years have audio problems.
The intro thanks frank 😂😅
I used to work at circuit city back in the day, it was really fun, unboxing customers, iPods, and playing with all of the new models when they came in
I miss when apple products came in boxes like this
Lol basically cashies in northern Michigan=five below
I bought the 3rd Gen, new! This was before 3rd-party accessories so basically *everything* came in the box! Dock, in-line remote, charger. It was expensive but you got your money’s worth!
It's even more wild to think they still charge the same price (or sometimes even more) for the same device basically by itself in the box these days.
Got here so early the brewer’s yeast extract on my toast is still warm
I'm digging the audio upgrade. Definitely adds to the dank.
Enjoy it
Praise be to whatever deity thought about making Cashies a thing
It was surely our ONLY lord and savior Shrek
That’s so cool to get a brand new IPod that’s 19 years old. 👍🏼
Literally the only thing I look forward to most weeks is this show. Rock on, you ripper.
The mic quality adds to the dankness of the channel, and adds a 2000's periods feels to the videos
