@@adrianangeles9960 Thanks! I'm glad they help. Some of it is quite tough 😭 but you don't need to understand it all to be able to draw. I just wanted to be thorough in covering all the things I made notes on when I was learning.

Hey been a fan since pretty much the start, just wanted to give you an unrequested warning about scope creep in your project. I notice you've recently added a discord and now teaching content ontop of the daily shorts and bigger milestone videos. Those things are not insignificant time dumps. If you want to be a youtuber/teacher proko type it makes sense, but I remember you saying you wanted to be able to draw like Kim Jung Gi. If that's the goal then a couple extra hours to draw a week is a small boost that will compound to infinitely more value. See you've just hit 25k subs (congrats!), so I imagine this is a real choice you have to start making now.
Fair enough but peer pressure and money are great for consistency, and studies pretty consistently show that you remember more of what you teach that what you anything else, except a life or death situation where the adrenaline dump enshrines it in your long term memory. Using time more intently and pushing past plateaus feels much more natural with deadlines, bonuses, and people counting on you, or even just hanging with the homies. Can really force your brain to find another gear... burnout is also a thing ofc. But I would hesitate to assume extra hours will be used optimally if scheduled, I think the equation for skill acquisition throgh practice is a bit more non-linear than typically assumed. Maybe.
Thanks friend! It's nice to know that total strangers consider my wellbeing and are looking out for me 💖 The current videos are temporary. Basically I wanted to test the Anki deck concept more than anything. I'm not really trying to teach, but wanted to try and share my notes from my initial learning period in a way that would be most accessible for other people to try for themselves. I got like 25 Instagram messages a day asking me for it, so I did it. The Discord is where people can gather and test the stuff, the videos mirror the cards so that you have something visual to help you practice the things on them. My focus is actually testing the methods to see how they help people. I have no intention of being a teacher, making tutorials, selling Patreon stuff etc. Everything is for free! The drawing I am having to do to make these videos provided a good opportunity to revisit the basics yet again and I actually think it's helped me out. I am still working on the longer format videos and the next one will be out in February. Once this playlist of videos is complete, I'll not be making anymore like it, and so I will be able to dedicate more time to (hopefully) improving on my own art! It's been hard trying to balance helping myself and helping the many people who reach out to me, but I'm trying to juggle both temporarily 💕
@@10.000hrs its one of the coolest projects on UA-cam in my opinion. Never seen someone document so consistently and also learn so intentionally. We must protect you at all costs.
@aberwood thanks man, I truly appreciate it 💖 I've got lots of new things I've learned that I'll talk about in the 400 hours video. I have lost some subscribers over releasing these other videos, but I don't really mind because they seem to help people and that's the most important thing to me.
I got it from Amazon, just checked my order history. It was the hardcover, but I got the soft cover of 'How to Render'. It's a fairly expensive book. It's also a fairly tough book, but the stuff I'm covering in these videos is literally my notes from the book! So you'll have a feel for the difficulty level.
Tbh this is more like drawing mathematics rather than actual imagination. I am not saying your own art is 'mathamtecically correct' but that's the advice I get from watching the vids. Would it be possbile if you made a playlist of the vids personally helped you improve?
Yes, that's correct. To perhaps make it clearer, I learned this stuff and now it's in my mind constantly when I draw. So whenever I draw a car wheel, I have to think about how to make the ellipses for it correct in perspective. The 'math rules' that govern ellipses are therefore something I have to think about while drawing the wheels. It's sort of like having to spend time learning a little about your car engine before getting in and going racing. You don't need to be an expert, but you need to know the basics or you just won't be able to perform. The things in these videos are the stuff that made me able to draw to my current (still not professional) level, inside a 4 month learning period. So when people ask me 'how did you improve so fast?', well this is how. There aren't any videos that I watched really to learn this stuff. It was all books. The main one was 'How to Draw' by Scott Robertson which is what these videos are based on. The book is pretty tough so these videos are trying to demonstrate the concepts inside it in a hopefully simplified way to give the beginners testing the Anki deck a helping hand. There will be a bit more of this stuff to get through before the drawing from imagination actually kicks in! I appreciate your feedback and taking the time to share your thoughts with me! ✨️
Thank you again for another insightful upload

I think the links to the Anki deck aren't working, when I click either link it says "Sorry, the file you have requested does not exist."
Thanks for letting me know!
Not sure why it's doing that, I'll have to update it.

Yeah I’d be careful trying to be a teacher while also still being this in the midst of learning

Hi, I'm UK based, where did you buy your copy of "how to draw" by Scott Robertson. All those I find online seem to be second hand. Great videos
