-Colossal portrait of Constantine from the New Basilica in the Forum area
    -Marcus Aurelius equestrian statue

Thanks Darius, I was there at the museum exactly a year ago and so sad not to be able to travel from Australia this year. Hopefully next year we can get over there.

I would love to have seen the colossal statue of Constantine when it was one. The head alone is so imposing and dramatically commanding.

Hi Darius, absolutely love your videos. So fascinating. My favourite advice from you is “you gotta look up, you gotta look down, you gotta look out the windows”. It’s so true. Might I add, you gotta look behind you too. All the best. Cheers.

A very wise person in antiquity had the foresight to put a lot of these statues in a safe place for people 18 centuries, give or take, later to enjoy them.

Love the work you do! Don’t forget to tell your audience that the courtyard was designed by Michelangelo. And are you going to ever do a video on the subterranean Pythagorean Vasilica the port of Majorian Rome? I have a 200 page document I put together on all the information I’ve collected over the years if you’re interested.

It's amazing that these statues have survived, as the Romans themselves destroyed millions more over a thousand year period by melting some down for the metal, or grinding the marble for lime pits. When society collapses, one thinks of survival more than art.

@@DariusArya I believe I also saw the original horses at St Mark's in Venice those same years. There were no horses inside. In fact, then, one could sit outside next to the horses and I have a photo of me doing just that. Strange.
