I'm so glad I found your channel ❤ I love this kind of content
Glad you enjoy it!
Thanks Darius, I was there at the museum exactly a year ago and so sad not to be able to travel from Australia this year. Hopefully next year we can get over there.
Let’s hope so!
Excellent, inspiring! SPQR forever!
Thank you!
I would love to have seen the colossal statue of Constantine when it was one. The head alone is so imposing and dramatically commanding.
I agree - so amazing
Look at Darius’s latest videos he posted one about the reconstructed statue which is in Milan
Hi Darius, absolutely love your videos. So fascinating. My favourite advice from you is “you gotta look up, you gotta look down, you gotta look out the windows”. It’s so true. Might I add, you gotta look behind you too. All the best. Cheers.
A very wise person in antiquity had the foresight to put a lot of these statues in a safe place for people 18 centuries, give or take, later to enjoy them.
I love your channel. I love Roman history!
Thank you!
Thanks. The Capitoline Museum is the NEATEST museum in the world!!!!!
Thanks, Darius. You make ancient Rome come alive.
Love the work you do! Don’t forget to tell your audience that the courtyard was designed by Michelangelo. And are you going to ever do a video on the subterranean Pythagorean Vasilica the port of Majorian Rome? I have a 200 page document I put together on all the information I’ve collected over the years if you’re interested.
All of my visits to Rome I haven’t done the capitoline museum. Thanks for the tour!
Yes a great collection to visit
Loved this museum, among so many others in Rome. Love visiting this museum virtually with you, thank you!
I appreciate it!
Amazing. Darius thanks for sharing
Always a pleasure to check your new videos.
Lovely!
Thank you for sharing this with us. I'm always so excited watching your videos😊 Much love from Hamburg.
Many thanks!
Glorious. Thanks!
Thank you too!
It's amazing that these statues have survived, as the Romans themselves destroyed millions more over a thousand year period by melting some down for the metal, or grinding the marble for lime pits. When society collapses, one thinks of survival more than art.
HI Darius, Wow what detail incredible work. what a clear camera great work Darius, I found it very interesting
Thanks - that means a lot- from 2 years ago- but I had a gimbal for my phone
My wonderful city 🥰🥰🥰🥰
So Marcus Aurelius statue was brought inside only in 1985! That means I saw it outside when I was there in 1970/71.
Wow - yes
@@DariusArya I believe I also saw the original horses at St Mark's in Venice those same years. There were no horses inside. In fact, then, one could sit outside next to the horses and I have a photo of me doing just that. Strange.
Thank you for this video share! Are the provincial reliefs originals or cast replicas?
Originals - marble
Bel video
RE. the Hadrian statue, it must have taken considerble talent to sit a horse wearing only a tunic and underpants and with no stirrups.
Absolutely! (Marcus Aurelius)
I’ll didn’t this only survive because they thought it was Constantine?
Why the square holes in the Constantine statue?
Hair attachments or crown
@@DariusArya possible sunburst ?
Can you repeat that #. I don't think I got it.
Less time in the foyers and more time in the rest of the collection, please.
Los bustos son originales o son copias? Gracias por tu labor!
Nu se compară nici o istorie cu cea romană! Îmi place istoria antică, dar cea a Romei antice mă interesează în mod deosebit!
