When you and your wife are in the same room, there is a lot of audio feedback when she is speaking. You will need to turn off your microphone to eliminate the problem OR make some modifications to your microphone to eliminate the feedback.

For the question at minute 58:24: One thing to bear in mind when attaching a garage to a home is the need to completely seal off the garage from the house in order to prevent carbon monoxide from entering the living space. Many people are also tempted to put their furnace or hot water tank in an attached garage and run water pipes or ventilation ductwork through the adjoining wall into the house - all those holes and ducts also have to be completely sealed to prevent carbon monoxide from entering and the wall still has to be insulated. Lastly, RV’s are usually pretty big so you would probably need an oversize (and over-height) garage to accommodate them. That size of building could overwhelm a small cabin so I would suggest the detached garage option.

Hi Keith, enjoy your live show and you tube videos. I am looking forward to your upcoming live chat on windows this coming Thursday. I will be out of town and may not be able to join on the live chat. I have heard about Alpen High Performance Windows in Louisville Co. Hope you have them on your chat. Read a lot of good things about them but want to hear form a contractor. I live in the bay area but am planning to move and build a house with my wife after she retires in a couple years to Lewiston ID area. Looking for land now. Have been collecting a lot of information on the building and products over the last couple of years. When we get a little closer to the build I will be joining your course. Thanks for all the information you provide.

Just came across your channel and I'm liking you.
I want to build a house from hempcrete here in central Ohio but haven't figured out what I want to do for the roof as I want it to be a passive house and maybe collect the rainwater from the roof.
But my family has been building houses from the ground to finish so I definitely want to do it all by ourselves.

Professionally,I underwrite construction defect liability insurance. (contractor malpractice insurance) "Your Work" after the sub leaves the job is only covered if the sub has the proper endorsement called "Completed Operations". 95% of subs do not have this endorsement...the builder should ask to see this endorsement attached to the insurance certificate....and the builder MUST be listed as Additional Insured. Otherwise, if the sub stops paying for his insurance and the policy gets cancelled, how would the builder know? Being listing as Additional Insured requires the certificate issuer to notify all additional insureds that the certificate is no longer valid. Even when you do get a certificate, call the insurance company (not the local insurance agent) and verify all of the coverages and that the completed operations endorsement is in place.

When you talk about windows next week, please include how to install them in an Omni Block house. Thank you. We are planning to break ground this summer to start our Omni Block home.

In my state the contractors are required to warranty 2 years. However? If you make a claim with the ROC it could take years to get your monry from their bond if they refuse yo comply. So check the reputation and referrals of each sub.

Do you think hemp houses cost a lot less than normal timber frame houses? I would think so as the walls can all be put up and complete within a week and is way more insulative. So you'd pay way less for labor costs and save a lot on time I would think.

Its finding the labor to use hemp that is the challenge. The tech is coming a long though.

I’m in Florida, close to coast. I’m building a home. We’re trying to decide on impact windows. Vinyl impact, Viwinco or PGT ?
