Excellent video, I'm glad YT suggested it to me. I bought mine in 2021, and it doesn't have any funky screws like that. I don't have any need to open it up anyway, though. I could tell it was heavy-duty and/or made well the first time I picked it up, as it has some weight to it. I've been super happy with it as well. It's a very transparent attenuator, much more so than many others I've heard.
This is a really interesting change of pace, for someone who is really only hobby-level on Guitar related electronics, I really appreciate videos like this and the Garnet Stinger build, since both videos not only bring up questions I wouldn't think to ask, but either directly answers or at least gives me the terminology to look up the answer to those questions.
That looks nicely designed and built, but very generously specified. Adjusting both input and output impedance is nice, I imagine there's must be 6 different windings on that transformer? Does it seem transparent enough or does it interfere with that holy output transformer / speaker interaction we read about in forums?
"does it interfere with that holy output transformer / speaker interaction we read about in forums" I think for those who believe in this, the question is already answered lol.

It has all the features I'd want in a power attenuator / load box.
This was an excellent choice for a teardown!
Suggestion: It might be short and boring but I would love to see the inside of a GigRig Quartermaster.

Been using one for years. Great unit. Only complaint would be the text labelling just rubs off if touched after time.
Looks like a pro level unit.
Open up new Fulltone pedals. I love Fulltone.

I need one but I don’t know if aracom still exist! They don’t answer mails 🤷🏻♂️
Mhh is it possible to get a schematic of this unit to build it my self ? I really need one of those 😢
The security screws!!!!!!!!!!
Since that one says load, can you run it without a speaker?
yes correct! Don't quote me, but I believe it defaults to a load box when you don't connect a speaker and you select "F" on the attenuation knob.
