Thanks so much for the instructive help! I have a couple questions. 1. How do you get those 2 additional marks in paper 2? I've searched it up and I've got so many different answers such as "You have to make sure your English is in good grammar, sentence structure, paragraphing, handwriting, spelling, etc..." OR "Handwriting and stuff doesn't matter, what matters is the examiner will read over your answer once. If the examiner understands your answer without having to re-read, then you achieve the 2 additional marks" OR "The examiner will see how relevant your answers are. If you give a lot of points that are correct, but also give other additional points that are irrelevant to the question, you may get the content marks but will lose the 2 additional marks" OR "You have to have a diagram (but some long-answers are just wordy and you can't put in a diagram so I doubt this 4th method is right)". I've heard these 4 methods to get the 2 marks and so many other on the internet and I have no idea what's the actual method in getting those 2 additional marks. 2. I thought you had to have a complex IA! I was surprised when you emphasized you have to be simple. But how simple can you be? I assume you can't say stuff like "Effect of temperature on enzyme activity". If you're comfortable with sharing, and only if you're comfortable with it, could I ask you what your IA was and what you scored for it? I'm just a bit confused on to what extent must your IA be 'simple'? Thanks so much Markos!
Hey, I'm glad you found value in the video! 1. The two marks are given based on structure and fluency of the english language. When doing topic tests, I never really lost any marks there, so I think as long as you have a logical structure to your answers as well as passable grammar, you should be just fine. Handwriting has no influence over it unless your handwriting is so bad that the examiner can't understand what you are saying. Those two points are just there to penalise people who give answers which are all over the place and it's tough to understand, so I really wouldn't worry much about them, as long as its understandable and well structured its fine. 2. For biology I found that the simplest IA's are the most effective, because despite maybe losing one or two points in the exploration section of the IA, you can make up for it with high quality writing up of the paper, getting you loads of marks in analysis, evaluation and communication sections, which give you the bulk of the marks. Finding a complex IA for bio is a huge hassle, and it is really just not worth it at all. I mean with your proposal, you could do something similar, but maybe add a twist, making it less textbook and slightly original to get some points in exploration and personal engagement. I probably shouldn't share my IA since the grades haven't been submitted by the IB yet, but come July 6th I'd be happy to share! Happy to help!!
@@MarkosDrakos Hi there! Thanks for the quick response! For the 'structure' bit, do you mean as in paragraphing or just making sure your ideas are in a logical order such as in for example DNA replication, if you jump to DNA Polymerase's role then go to Helicase's role you'd lose the 2 marks because it's in the wrong order? Or do you mean paragraphing your ideas to have a good structure? Thanks so much!
Helpful video! I am new to the IBDP, but I feel like bioninja goes too much into some stuff, and sometimes, the illustrations are too complex. Is it just me?
Thanks! I mean, Bioninja is pretty summarized, but maybe have a look at the summary PDF's on it, those tend to be more simple and might be more helpful?
Hi again Markos! Many people seemed to have got much lower than their predicted grades and the entire thing seems to be such a chaotic scene. If you're willing to share and only if you're willing to share, are you alright with sharing what IB scored you? Again, if you don't want to share then just ignore my comment. I totally respect that. Thanks!
Hi very good explanation. I need to ask questions about the Biology 35 . Is it hard or eassy for Ib biolgy 20 grade 11 student who achive 75% avarage has.
From this video (I do not watch your other videos. sorry), I think you could improve with your transitions and you could add more visuals, more dynamism and more movement. My thoughts. Just thought it would be nice to share it. Nice video though.
I can and will cram a whole IB HL Biology syllabus
letsgo!!

I agree with you! there are also some mistakes on it sometimes...so i used to rely on it a lot but then changed resources later on
@@syndey4673 any suggestion for bio resources other than bioninja?
Hey Markos, do you know where I could find the PDF version of ib biology Pearson textbook?
Hey! you should be able to find it at www.ibdocuments.com/index.html
However, most of this stuff has been taken down recently so I dunno where else...
Try z library (you just have to make an account, its free)

Hey, my results reaction video is about to go live, make sure you check it out! I won’t give any spoilers here though.
But yes, I agree, everyone’s grades are going completely crazy, I don’t understand how these were calculated, it seems a bit strange.

Probably neither, but if you put your mind to it, you can get the grades you deserve
Hi Markos, it's okay if you don't, but it will help a lot if you share your bio IB ankis.
I did! They should be public in the ankiweb for anyone to download. They should just be called IB biology.
new videO?
