This year, I’ve halted my purchases (as of yet), and am slowly going through my backlog. I’ve been mandating myself to certain titles to certain days of the week, no more than 3 hours, as not to cause burnout. So far, I’ve played around 12 titles, but enjoyed them far more than I would have if I rushed through them :)
@@gumerzambrano it’s all about major time management x) I sleep average - 4-6 hours Workout average - 3-4 hours Eat time + clean - 2 hours Shower + restroom = 1 hour Work + commute = 8.5 hours Add those together at max, my time should be used up around 21.5 hours a day. Leaving me with a minimum of 2.5 hours, maximum of 5.5. It’s meticulous I know.
I have a giant backlog of games on PC because epic games and twitch give away games on the regular. Out of the 300+ games i own on PC, i paid for 20 of them off the top of my head.
Indie games really haven't wow'd me and I don't expect them to; AAA games have been getting worse every year so there's nothing worth playing for me. I want a GREAT Diablo game like D2 from 2000, a GREAT Devil May Cry game like DMC3 in 2005, and a GREAT God of War game like GoW in 2005. Nothing blows me away like games did from 1993 to 2016, and Doom Eternal.
I've resigned to never completing my backlog. I have some categories in stream: Currently playing (10), next next (32), next (232), backlog (1072), various "played/completed/done" that total to about 450. Those OG steam sales and humble bundles were amazing, so many dirt-cheap games I scooped up and then never played! I've been purposefully working through it for the past few years, which meant I had to avoid online games as they suck you in to playing the same thing over and over again. I faltered a bit on Warthunder, Hell Let Loose, and now Helldivers 2. At this point it's something I'm going to leave to my grandkids in my will, assuming Gaben keeps up his promise of making all games DRM free when Valve go under.
I have over 9,0000 games. and i think i have only finished about 2% of my entire collection. I Spend more time trying to figure out what i want to play than i do playing them. so this yeah i have made it my mission to NOT BUY anymore games Until i have completed at lease 100 games this year.
Last year I only bought TOTK. Nothing else interested me. And so far this year I only got Wonder and Kirby because I was in Japan where games are cheaper
I've been hacking away at my backlog at a consistent pace this year which I'm proud of, feels nice to mark games as complete (although I do tend to revisit them at some point to look at different endings and options).
Way ahead of you. Been playing Cyberpunk 2077, Dwarf Fortress, and a bit of Idol Showdown. Plan on giving Stellaris, Total Warhammer, the Scarlet and Violet expansions, Monster Prom, Final Earth 2, and many more a try
I made a complete backlog list in January to encourage me to do my backlog of games instead of just sitting on them. I did the name, what I want to achieve, and my progress. It makes the process a lot more refreshing and enjoyable, I'd recommend anyone else here to do the same.
People really need to show some willpower and stop funding sequels and reboots. They're almost never as good as the game that got you interested in the first place.
This was excellently made! I’ve had a bunch of games on the back burner for a while now, and have been trying to play them as of late. Sometimes I’ll play a bit then get busy with other things and come back just to boot up a multiplayer game, instead of finishing a single player. Motivation is a key factor for me to attempt long game runs, and coming back to games I haven’t played in a long while can feel weird. I finally just a month ago completed Borderlands 3, and am in the process to finish more. You give a great example of what ppl do: getting a game on sale to eventually play it later, I did that with Arkham Batman games and that’ll be my next goal. Thank you for motivating me to go back to old games while we anticipate for big releases! 🙌🫡
It grows ever more cumbersome. A non stop battle interrupted by the full time job.

An even simpler answer for why you should complete your backlog: you only live so long.

I have 800 games iny backlog. You can't do that in a year even playing on Easy and ignoring achievements.

I made a list too. Not as comprehensive with process and that, but it's the order in which I want to play the games. It definitely helps.
