We're sorry, we wanted to fill the video time with as much information about druzy's. Maybe we'll do a sit down and open them! Wouldn't that be fun -- like Christmas! 😀
My main question is: how do you know a stone is going to be a druzy from its "cover?" I am extremely appreciative of matrix after going to visit a friend in his "rock shop." He was cutting opals, one to replace my cracked ring opal. After watching him work for a couple of hours, I started playing with a couple of "rocks" he had sitting in an open box. It was fun, throwing them from one hand to another, up in the air and catching them....you get the picture. When my ring was ready, he asked me if any of those rocks I had been playing with interested me. THEN he told me they were just in from Lightning Ridge in Australia...GULP! BLACK OPALS....And yes, I did buy the one that I had been so interested in. It's a gorgeous black opal that my friend cut (free 😃) for me. But since then, I have always been interested in finding out how anyone can tell what's worth something inside...from just looking at the outside. 😱😁
Geodes have a hollow space inside, which is what allows the crystals to form. So if a rock feels lighter than the surrounding rocks, it could be a geode. You really can't know until it's cut open. That's so cool about your black opal!
Awesome presentation from the whole Fire Mountain Gem's team! Love seeing the different departments, real humans behind the digital. (Is there an AirB&B cot I can rent in the Vault? Just to drool over that many pretties in one place.....)
I don't like any of the druzy and never have understood the hype. I think they are prettier and more special in the stone they came in. I guess a lot of people like them though. I will stick to growing my own crystals.
You guys are a tease! I wanted to see you open more of those rocks!

I just found a million of them in Missouri
