Either the owners were ungrateful or they were to embarrassed to show their emotions. I would have hugged all of the cops profusely for saving the dog from potentially being killed on the freeway! Those pet owners clearly don't care that much. On behalf of the owners of the dog, I want to sincerely thank all of the officers who rescued that dog, thank you very much!

I'm sorry, but if it would've been me I would've been crying, hugging everyone, thanking them endlessly, and would have bought them dinner. All these officers are beyond kind, compassionate, so empathetic, and deserve so much appreciation and love. I'm not trying to bash other officers, but we have seen a few that could care less and do not know how to handle dogs. My outmost respect, love, and appreciation to every single officer and everyone who made this rescue possible. Thank you for the bottom of my heart. Clearly that family do not deserve to have that dog or any pet at all.

I just took in an 8 -10-year-old Stray not neutered German Shepherd from one of the Riverside Shelters after my old girl had cancer. If anybody can help the Riverside shelters and adopt the German Shepherds and many other breeds it would be wonderful. The shelters are overcrowded, and these majestic dogs are being euthanized. There is a crisis going on right now of people dumping them. Please help if you can. Glad to see this old guy had a family.

I do animal rescue in So cal and when I read the comments that the owners didn’t seem to care I immediately knew they were Mexican and oh look I was right… obviously not everyone but in rescue we always seem to have to pick up the pieces for them. A ton of neglect, always rehoming them, dog fighting, backyard breeding, they come from a place where there are stray starving dogs everywhere and dog fighting is normal and they’re just looked at differently over there then they come here and do the same to our animals. They even seek out free kittens to use as bait for their fights. I’m half Mexican before anyone comes at me.
I worked at a rescue too. And animal neglect and abuse is in ALL races. Assuming they were Mexican is ignorant. But there is a big disconnect between animals and the LATINO and Black communities. There’s progress though, and there are a bountiful amount of people that love their pets and treat them good in these communities as well. Oh and I’m Mexican with experience in rescue and the vet field 10 yrs plus 😂

He probably heard some fireworks and got scared. My little sister's Sheppard had to be inside during thunderstorms or the 4th of July.
