One of the best jazz pianists ever. I’m a jazz pianist and have been listening to Monty for over 40 years, both live and on recordings. He’s one of my 5 favorite jazz plants, if not my number 1 favorite!!!!

😁Me too, since his LP, (I'm dating myself) Love and Sunshine back in the mid-70's. He was one of three, Oscar P. and George Shearing...I have more now but not many more.

Well, I'll be damned - there's my college friend and big band bassist, Steve Rodby! He spent several decades with Pat Metheny.
    ...and Frank Gant on drums.

I found this difficult to listen to with headphones. Many very soft-loud songs. Besides, its in mono. Did they have stereo in 1978? I think so!

I’m a big fan of Monty but never come across this before. I’m guessing his own composition as it often liked to write bass lines.

Monty at its best, showing off all his wonderful tricks and licks, swinging like nobody's business! The bass player's bad intonation is driving me insane though. My Lord, I so wish Ray Brown would have been on this gig!

Sorry but if you want to describe Monty without making use of the word "REGGAE", your description is very unprecise.
