Well, in my opinion it is very important to eat organic food. Pesticides kill bugs and worms right away, it won`t kill you that fast, but it will make you sick and kill you over time. I am very frugal, but organic food is a must-have for me.
I share the same beliefs though I see 70, 80 year olds eating crap all day 🤔 but better safe than sorry. When I keep finding live bugs in my produce it's annoying but also a good feeling 😁
I've never enjoyed the taste of coffee and, for some reason, never really enjoyed anything with caffeine, except a few times where I've enjoyed chocolate or a dark soda, but even those are very rare. It's the same with alcohol. It's not a religious thing, I just never took to the taste and saw too many problems with consequences from people who do drink alcohol. I can only imagine how much money I've saved through the years.
Re: Organic, I'll just recommend that people check out The Dirty Dozen and The Clean 15 put out by Environmental Working Group. There may be some things that you may wish to buy as organic to avoid some pesticides unless being frugal somehow helps us not get cancer from chemicals. Cheers., I enjoy your content.
Awesome video, am onboard with all of it 😂 Took early retirement 20 days ago after clearing all my debt, including my mortgage, over 4 years then saving like mad by being frugal and working very hard. Currently watching your video from my campervan( paid for in full!) in Île de ré, France while supping glass of my fav red wine (€3.60 per bottle) cheers Austin, hugs to Star 😊
@@julz7753 🙏No I’m Irish ☘️ It’s very easy to get to France 🇫🇷 on the ferry from Ireland and, as we are part of the European Union, I don’t need a visa for lots of countries and I can stay as long as I like!
Disagree about the food. There are so many pesticides and chemicals and harmful additives in our food. Read the labels. Do some research. Eat garbage get garbage health. And I'm way too old to be a hipster. I care about my health tho.
All advertising trap. Real organic is growing at home by yourself in your own garden without chemical for sure. Else, there's no such thing as organic if it looks pretty.
All that stuff ends up dissolved in your stomach acid. Watch a video of stomach acid sometime and see if you think these supposedly harmful things will survive that process!
Mom had a Prime membership. When it ran out we didn't renew it...the $36 = free shipping won us. There are some things on Amazon that, like you said, you can only get on there. Or for a lot cheaper. Frugality feels so good. (in other facets of our lives as well). Thanks for the YT videos on money/time/sanity-saving tips. You are knowledgeable and fun to watch 😊
Pro tip for avoiding Amazon Prime: get your order in over $35 for free shipping and you can usually can get additional orders under $35 for free as well within the next day or so. They'll usually ship all this together.
I see value in the Prime Membership for one big reason: it enables you pull the trigger on products you’re tracking at the moment the price dips to something you’re happy with. If something is listed for $19.99 and they run a deal where it’s $13.99, you can’t buy that item without buying more things or paying for shipping. Prime lets you lurk then and buy at the best prices. Of course you have to be patient and diligent in your tracking for this to work, but my wife and I use Amazon *a lot* and we’ve gotten well beyond the price of our Prime membership in discounts. I also just want to say this: not often, but sometimes you DO need things in 1-2 days.
@@michaelmalzahn-tx2zi, anything and everything. Clothes, stuff for home like air filters, bed sheets, kitchen supplies. Stuff for parties, stuff for my pets, stuff for my office, stuff for my car… they have the most variety, they have great prices, an easy return policy and I like being able to read through reviews. I do what I gotta do to maximize the value in my spending.
I agree, it does prevent overspending. Plus, we don’t have cable and Amazon Prime Video gives us more free programs & movies. I think we more than make up for the membership in savings. Of course there are exceptions. Some may not be able to stick to buying only needs, and too many wants. 🤷♀️
I love my Amazon Prime. I was able to get a student rate for many years... something like $59 per year. I also don't pay for streaming services or cable and use Amazon for streaming and free music options. I guess I'm lucky to be in a very busy, overpopulated city where Amazon actually will deliver numerous items the same day, or even in a few hours. I'm disabled, and for me to navigate the busy traffic, get to a store, wait in line to make a purchase, and then drive back home takes me a good couple hours depending on the store. Amazon has saved me tons of time, and money on gas. The items I get for the most part are essentials you can get in the grocery store, and sometimes even cheaper, especially with special discounts. If you hold something in your cart sometimes you will get a special Prime discount coupon making the item very reasonable in cost. They also will take my HSA card for things like shampoo and toothpaste. And not to mention the Amazon Pharmacy is actually cheaper to pay a cash price than to go through my insurance and fill it at a local store with my copay. Since I live alone and don't have the help I need, Amazon has been a lifesaver for me
@@jessicaroyal57, love to hear it. You have special circumstances being disabled but you touched upon a few things I would have said had I was writing an article. Not only does Amazon have things you can’t find in stores, but even if you could there is transportation expenses and a time cost that’s eliminated with Amazon. Their dominance may not be good for the U.S. economy at large, but there’s a reason they’re so dominant and I’m not about to cut off my nose to spite my face. They have endless options, great prices, an easy return policy, plenty of reviews to help make decisions and frankly, there is something to be said for free 1-2 day shipping. $150 a year is $12.50 a month and we didn’t even touch upon Prime Video. If it was $300 a year we could start having a conversation, but frugal people aren’t stingy people. If they find value in Prime, they’ll invest in it. And for me, there is absolutely value in Prime.
People have different priorities. I buy the freshest best quality food I can find. I'm 76, live alone, don't eat much and not expensive food, but it has to be fresh and organic if possible. Never ate much meat. Not into 'Gluten-free' etc. Don't have a car and have a bad Knee, so i cant get around very well. AMAZON is essential. Everything from out-of-print or foreign-language books to cat litter. I have Prime. One reason? Extra discounts at WHOLE FOODS. I do buy WHOLE FOODS' brand of Spring Water in gallon jugs for drinking and cooking because the Tap Water is horrible in this city. I use Paper Towels in the Kitchen because - who has an unlimited supply of Rags??? But my Cat gets Food and Love. Period. No Toys and no 'Treats.' That's all she wants. TIPS - I'm against them. Also a lot of stores are asking you to donate to some charity. This is another scam. YOU donate - the Store gets a tax write-off.
I never buy water as it's worlds cheaper to get a proper water filter. Not the cheap Brita ones - but the better ones that filter lead and the actual harmful stuff. Yes, DO tip. But always in cash and always directly to the poor worker. Remember that many states pay less than minimum wage as a "tip credit" to the employer. If they make $20 in cash and force the employer to pay minimum wage on top of that, then they win.
Gluten free is essential if you are coeliac. It's not a fad nor a luxury. And many people died from this, it ended up in death certificates as chronic stomach complaints but mostly it was being malnourished. Food is very important to your overall health. Same with supplements, not all but some. For instance I take vitamin D3 simply because I'm deficient and many people are. It's necessary for calcium uptake. Also vitamin K. For sure I can try to get 15 minutes of sunshine in winter but that's a tough ask right now. Vitamin K I can get from mushrooms, or cheese. I don't take either vitamin if I've done either measure that day. Ignoring health issues is not frugal it's stupid. If your bones are depleted it makes no sense telling someone you were too frugal to take your supplements. Of course people can be excessive and it's just expensive pee if you are taking vitamins excessively. Also a lot of our food is depleted so in some things I eat organic. One is leafy greens, but not all. The main thing is to avoid greens that are excessively full of pesticides. There, I said it. But not all veg and fruits absorb a lot of pesticides. Leafy greens do. Potatoes do. Carrots don't, pumpkins don't. Just get a summary of the ones that are full it them, avoid and buy those items organically. If you aren't eating out, if you aren't eating junk food, if you don't drink alcohol or go on benders, I think a bit of organic is OK. Just don't be excessive with it. Animals need regular vet visits and proper diets. Do not scrimp on pet food it's false economy. Give them a bit of proper meat to chew on at the end of their meals, it is great for their gums and teeth. Tooth extractions are massively expensive for vet controlled animals. Find out why the biological weakness of your animal is, mine has a tendency to experience too much water.
💜 el Augustin. Good tips, I'm glad you brought up the cost of meat - I'm fully plant based and eat loads of chickpeas, lentils and vegetables. So cheap and healthy.
i agree with you on all of them but not number 7 (organic in particular). a lot of studies have been done on organic/non organic & some are worth paying. i’m happy to spend money on a few organic items like strawberries, look up the ingredients between a gmo & organic strawberry. tho not everything. just the few part of the dirty dozen
I don’t buy from Amazon, I don’t need free shipping. Free music is here on UA-cam. Your local library has many movies, ask access online to your local library movies if you are in North America.
I agree on cellphones. I would gladly use my phone I bought 10 years ago, but all my phones died on me, because they are made that way ... to die 2.5 years after you got them.
It is annoying. Mine is just at 2.5 years now and I'm hoping it lasts even longer. I'm already plotting just getting the battery replaced when it becomes a serious issue. I hate all of it--the expense, the transferring all the info over, etc.
@@flonotflow Yeah I hate moving phones so much. Although lately it's quite automated. Few times my battery "died", so I replaced it and the phone was not as responsive as before. I buy biological milk, because it has higher animal welfare standards in Europe than non-biological milk. For the same reason I do not each meat, and that's why I use B12 supplements to ensure I do not lack that vitamin.
@@carultch To get the label "biological" cows have to be outside at least 180 days per year and there are lower standards for how much milk every cow has to produce.
I had my iPhone 8 till about a year ago. I got the oldest model new phone my carrier was offering. I got an iPhone 12 which was “free.” I didn’t pay extra for the latest greatest phone they were offering. I will hopefully have this phone for a long time.
I agree with most of the things you say and have learned so much from you about finance and frugality. As a dietitian, I disagree with this theory on food. I have a many clients who are allergic to gluten and have severe reactions to both gluten and pesticides in conventionally grown foods. Not everyone has these health problems, but it’s not just a hipster trend. It’s a serious medical consideration for a lot of people. Also if people are eating perfectly healthy food then maybe they don’t need supplements, but that is not the case for most Americans. Nutrient deficiencies also cause health problems which can be rapidly improved using targeted supplementation. Not all my clients need supplements, but a lot of them benefit from it and tell me within weeks or even days of starting a supplement that their symptoms are improving. All this being said, thank you for what you do. You are one of my favorite UA-camrs and I watch your videos all the time. Keep bein silly.
I don't understand how Americans can pay such an outrageous price for Amazon Prime. In Italy it's around 50 euro and I find it convenient also because it allows me to watch films and tv series but if it were to increase I would cut it off. No way I would spend all those dollars
meat is expensive... but.... lets not full ourselves about the things we dont even think about as expensive. potato chips $4.97 for 7 oz. that's ... $0.71 an ounce that's $11.36 a pound. ... for junk food.
I took the shampoo pump when the shampoo bottle was done…used it the change the lawnmower oil…pumped the oil right out. Didn’t have to buy an extraction pump
Vegan here, I do need the supplements 😅 edit : my diet is already supervised and tested by a competent doctor, and I have been vegan for over 25 years. So far so good thank you for your interest and concerns for my health.
I agree with almost all of these but the organic and gluten free. Unfortunately companies like Monsanto have damaged our food supply to the point where chemicals are actually changing the protein content of crops and making them indigestible. I've been tested and the connections between my health issues, gluten and also chemicals is quite clear. Altered foods are also now being attributed to things like low-grade Austism and a number of other conditions, particularly in children. The cells of my body can no longer process many foods due to an overload of chemicals and toxins in foods. For whatever reason I seem to be more susceptible than some people but many suffer from this and don't realize it. Hence the need for organic, gluten free, and some supplements, though I keep these to a minimum as much as possible. Please, everyone, do yourselves a favor and educate yourselves about the food industry, particularly in this country. And about the pet food industry if you have pets.
I use my prime membership daily..for more than just shopping ( free ebooks..free online streaming of videos/audio books...picture storage ect) BTW student membership is still $59 a year....
Generally agree with your list, but have a few exceptions: 1.) we do shop organic produce for the “dirty dozen” where it truly matters to avoid pesticides. However, we buy them from a produce market where the prices are similar to non-organic (and higher quality & way cheaper than chain grocery store), plus for over 45 years they have had in back of store and “ugly vegetables” section where imperfect fruits & vegetables are like half the cost. 2.) I get my Amazon Prime for free 🆓 as the 2nd person on the family account of a friend (my billing & delivery location is separate/different). The only thing I can’t do is loan or be loaned a kindle book from another prime user. 3.) I meet friends out for coffee instead of lunch, and I don’t pay $6 for it. I order a small plain old coffee and get the free refills. This started out because one friend couldn’t afford to buy lunch out, & another had to be careful about ingredients & preparation of food so we settled on coffee at a halfway meeting spot.
Older people and people with various health conditions will often benefit greatly from the right supplements. As well as vegans, which someone already commented. But for healthy people who eat a variety of foods, it is not necessary. I live far north and will only add omega-3 and vitamin D to be sure I get enough.
I work for Amazon. They're far from evil. I make a decent income. They deliver most things the next day meaning I earn my paycheck. Employees get great benefits. We earn it, but go ahead find a better job. I'll wait. I have prime, but use it less and less. I have a Motorola G7. It was made a few years ago. I bake my own bread. I cut back on meat because it's unnecessarily expensive. My husband catches our fish and hunts for our red meat. My water comes out of my sink and well (at our other property). I do use supplements. Vitamin D is low for me, so I do take it. Most of these fit in my frugal list.
How is meat unnecessarily expensive with the excessive amounts of water, the feed, the processing, the transport that’s required to get it the consumer. Also, by shopping at Amazon, people are taking tax dollars away from their own communities, and the evil man doesn’t even pay his fair share to maintain the infrastructure that he’s fully benefitting from.
Okay, here is why I use paper towels; 1. They are biograddable 2 to 4 weeks 2. Save water, every living person, animal, and/or plant needs water to survive 3. A lot of so- called rags people buy are not biograddable, isn't plastic bad enough for the planet 4. I use a Wonder Washer 5. I use them even for coffee filters 6. Just to say,I didn't get a capsule wardrobe, so I could spend time washing rags! 7. I don't waste them I use them wisely, I use only what I really need. So please consider how Holy Grail is it using rags anyway! Whoa I think I need a drank of water! Love Ruthie
As someone who has a life threatening allergy to wheat, I am thankful for the increase in gluten free products available. But I do agree it has been a bit of a scam, convincing people who don't really need those products into buying them. Plus a lot of it is total garbage. I have to admit that I was 🤣🤣🤣at the paper towel uses--those are basically the ONLY reasons we have them around! And even with the dog pee, frequently we'll just use an already dirty bath towel to clean that mess up. Great video. The picture of you and Star is absolutely wonderful.
Same here, celiacs disease can kill and I think it's wonderful thanks to the push to disclose the gluten ingredient it's much easier to avoid it. Rather surprised he mentioned organic though considering most frugal people are health conscious and want there to be less pesticides that kills pollinators on crops since that has a knock on effect for the ecosystem.
@chaoticneutralsheep Organics are not actually well regulated. A lot of it is a scam. The only way to be 100% sure an item is truly organic is if you actually know the person you are buying it from or you grow it yourself. Otherwise it is a crap shoot. Another area where the FDA has let us down in the US.
I love that the Gluten Free Fad has increased the number of products available and reduced the prices of the products I need or want to try. But Man oh Man am I tired of having people think this is a "lifestyle" choice for everyone.

My son is a new user and has had no service in multiple locations. He got his iPhone in 2016 and it doesn’t support 5G, so perhaps that’s the reason. Regardless, we are disappointed. We were going to pay off three phones and switch. Looks like we’ll just stay with ATT.
I started watching your channel nearly a month ago, but I almost never leave comments in UA-cam. Here I just couldn't help, as I'm really excited to see that nice dog that you got❤ congratulations! We definitely need to see more of her in your videos😊 and btw watching this video made me realize how much of unnecessary dog staff I've been getting for my dog without even noticing for the past few years (the expense and the place it occupies is crazy, and my pup doesn't even like some of those things)
D3 with K2 is a vital supplement for most people. The majority of the people on this planet are very deficient in it. It is cheap and easily taken. Definitely recommend it for most people.
I purchase paper towels about 3 times a year, when company is coming for dinner. otherwise, I have good dish towels and old dish towels for floor spills. it amazed me during pandemic how people acted like this was important.
I won't save on the expense of animals. I won't buy the cheapest food with the worst living conditions for the animals involved. This isn't frugal, it is egoistic on the expense of feeling beings.
6:29 I ONLY eat meat, but I eat just once a day, and also I mostly eat ground beef, so my grocery bill is really inexpensive. Along with that I just drink water
Carnivore is so much cheaper than SAD, vegan, or anything else I've ever tried. The health effects are amazing, the streamlining of life, the lower amounts of waste..and the calm contentedness of it all...Carnivore for the win!
I’m really loving your channel. This is like the 10th video I’ve watched in a row and I’m really impressed. With that said, a few of your takes have been pretty wacky, such as comparing people who use supplements to cult members. Taking Magnesium ain’t the same thing as joining Jamestown
great video and valuable info. I'm laughing at the comments of people stating what THEY do and THEY need. Of course we each have necessities and we alone can determine what we ourselves need... This video, however, gives us a clear look at things people often do but don't think about... thanks for things to think about!!! (love the shot of you and Star!)
Luckily my cats' favorite toys are 1.) wadded up aluminum foil balls, 2.) ponytail holders, and 3.) cardboard boxes. I'd call my cats frugal except for the vet bills.
I pack egg whites from a muffin pan, mixed greens and grilled chicken salad in a bentgo container 5x a week and my breakfast+ lunch costs less than $5 a day.
Great tips Austin. One point women of reproductive age who may become prey should take a vitamin with folate to prevent birth defects. If you wait until you become pregnant you will have waited too long to prevent many spinal column disorders. These are super cheap tho so shouldn't be an issue for most.
You can get around tips by living in Australia ;) (where you can tip if you want to because you really like the person's service or attitude). Best wishes from the southern hemisphere.
¡Que bueno! The other thing is paper napkins. I've been using the same dozen and ½ cloth napkins for years and they're doing fine. I've saved bucks and trees! ❤
We may have to agree to disagree on food part. Granted, people should watch their meat intake. I know I try to, but people do have food allergies, gluten sensitivity is a real medical thing. Also, I do believe in supporting local farmers, most of the food, from what I have seen, is organic and less expensive.
Great video, I agree on most of the points except for #12 (or perhaps I’m just adding on to it): owning a pet by itself is generally a want and not a need, with some exceptions. The food, the vet fees, the insurance, the time, the destroyed furniture, etc. Owning a pet is a wonderful experience for sure, and I’m not saying it is a bad thing, but again it is a want and not a need that frugal people might want to reconsider.
I have 4 dogs. They dont destroy my furniture and even if they did i wouldnt care. I just get free or almost free furniture. Just gotta buy dogs that fit your house.
Again, owning a pet is awesome, but just not an absolutely need in most cases. My cat is at the vet at this very moment for a dental cleaning and the bill will be $700 😂 The pet insurance will cover 90% of it bust still...
@@Baiyoubai feed healthy foods and less dental issues. And ya 700 on a cat lol. Get 10 free cats if wanted. Funny how 1 person can own dogs and cats their whole life and not have dental issues. But ya cheap food rotts teeth and many other expensive health issues.
Love your content, and obviously you’re not yet old enough to need supplements to heal, have experienced that pharmaceuticals do not heal, and to recognize that medical doctors can provide guidance but are not to steer the ship regarding your healthcare decisions. Look at all the fun learning you have ahead of you!! 👏
Not eating meat is where we get a disagreement Austin, it's not the meat what is the problem but what you eat with the meat, you are a smart man and I think you'll look at more research with this. low carb, keto or Carnivore diet.
I don’t order lunch anymore because when it arrives at my office, it’s at room temperature. We all had food poisoning at our last pizza party. No thank you! ❤
Yep I canceled my Amazon Prime and the only issue is we did use the pharmacy and they give discounts to prime in there. We do use Fiber because we both work from home and when I priced out we got it cheaper than other internet options.
Such good tips. Although Ima gonna debate the fancy food thing... not cos I'm a hipster, but because I'm a health nut and I am happy to pay more for good grass-fed meat and veggies with minimal chemicals. But I cook it myself because eating out is insanely expensive, and frankly I'm a good cook haha. In Australia I can recommend Boost mobile for phone data if you own your handset outright. It uses the Telstra network and I recharge for 366 days at a time to get the best deal. (Not sponsored, just a happy customer 😂)
Our 2 dogs get dry food and we make our own wet dog food - it's less than quarter the price of the stuff we bought in little tubs. My old boy (13) was starting to struggle with back and hip pain, we dropped the dog roll in favour of our homemade food and he seems to be much better - curious.
The pixel 6 pro vs pixel 8 pro comparaison isn't that good imo because one should also consider the support time a device has and between for example the pixel 8 and pixel 6 pro this should be included in your choice because with the pixel 8 you get that 7 years of support (and maybe even a bit more for security updates, which is what matters)
There are a handful of fruits and vegetables known as the "dirty dozen," where it's recommended (by various environmental groups) to buy them organic, if possible. A few examples are strawberries, kale, and grapes. In my experience, non-organic berries, in particular, often taste bitter. I'm less likely to splurge for organic bananas, mangoes, or coconuts, where you're not going to eat the skin/shell. That said, organic farming is also better for the environment, though not always as much as we think. I recommend reading Michael Pollan's "The Omnivore's Dilemma" for more info about this: a library/or second-hand copy, of course. LOL Fun video and I'm with you on pet stuff, paper towels, and endless tipping, for sure!
Yeah, some things like lettuce are good, but the word can also be misleading. I think the best solution is to buy from a local farmer, but it's not always realistic. It's also interesting because although the farming is more natural, it's not a sustainable way to feed the world as the world's population is too big and it would require too much space. I was a huge Michael Pollan fan growing up. I liked his recent show on Netflix!
We can easily grow enough food to feed the entire population of the planet. The biggest problem is that way too much of what is currently grown is fed to animals so that they can be slaughtered for food. If animal agriculture was eliminated crops could be grown to feed humans directly. Moreover, no need to cut down expansive areas to rainforest to raise cows for food. Beans, lentils, potatoes, onions, and bananas are amongst the least expensive and most nutritious foods in the supermarket.
I occasionally take multi vitamins (I don't take it every. single. day). I don't know if it benefits me really. European supermaket brands have them cheap.
I agree with all of them, but last year I happened to get blood work done and they said I needed more vitamin D which is why I had to take it 😅 But it was free
I believe 1st world country should have good quality public water. You know, we need water to live. That is why i never buy bottled water. I have good filter and it is good for me. And i save tons of money and tons of plastic every year. Phones? Yes. Of course, we need more and more apps. But even older phones can do that. Personally - i love to buy luch at work (it is part of benefits, i have it cheap). It is nice thing at work. I'm bored of every day sandwitches. And sandwitches cost too. It is fair treat for me. @@michaelmalzahn-tx2zi We generally got very clean tap water, but ... usually the contamination of tap water happens on the last mile. Your neighbor using too much fertilizer or his septic is leaking. And if this goes to your tap then your screwed (and last mile water lines are rarely inspected or never). My friend is building well and big water treatment stations and his recommendation is to always boil your tap water, how ever clean it is in the station phase. What illness did Peter Brabeck have? "Rumour has it that you have a rare illness. Fortunately it's an illness that's curable. The treatment is fairly aggressive, but it's relatively short, around six months. Already I'm more than half way through it. Is it going well? I came back this morning from my latest check-up. The results show that everything is going according to plan, so I'm very pleased. What is this illness? A type of cancer? I don't even know what it's called. And quite honestly, nor am I interested. When my doctor told me I was ill, we simply discussed the options. I asked him two questions: what will happen if I do nothing? His answer was: "In six months you will no longer be around." So that was not a solution. My second question was: "Can something be done?" To which he replied: "Yes, it's curable and the chances of getting better are very high." So I said to him: "Let's go for it." That's all I asked him. He's the specialist! I'm very pleased with the hospital. I've been astounded by the quality of the care and how kind the people are there."
I almost NEVER buy coffee out. I do insist on "sprouted grain" bread (often labeled organic) as from research I have read, conventional shelf stable bread is basically "low level poisin". I do take Omega 3, vitamin D (standardly recommended), and CLA (Conjugated linoleic acid - not expensive- to encourage muscle/discourage body fat). I've cut back on paper towels and am using microfiber cloths when practical. I ACCIDENTALLY signed up for a free month of Amazon prime. This will be cancelled. Thanks for the frugal encouragement!
Can you imagine the day they privatize water? I am sure it will happen sooner than we think. I am working in a very rural area where I can find a pump with free water at campgrounds and parks. In a suburb, there is really nowhere to get free water. Not enough to wash something or fill a jug. Maybe fill a water bottle.
It happened in the 1990s in the UK and has been a complete disaster. Untreated waste water - shit and piss, basically - is routinely pumped into rivers. The water companies face no real consequences for this.
I buy pasture raised chicken eggs. While the nutritional value is only slightly better I am paying for the treatment of the animals. I do agree alot of the wording on packages is a marketing gimmick, just have to do your own research.
If you want to save a LOT of money...Eat ONLY meat. Carnivore saves you so much. Less health costs, less trash costs, less couch potato costs. It's amazing.
Fiber internet. WARNING! Never buy fiber internet before your neighbors. I paid almost triple price for fiber when I moved into the house. Less than four years later my neighbors got it much cheaper. When you buy something like that, get in a group and get better price.

Hence, why he said overpriced
No way would I buy coffee out!! Just no way.

Of course there has to be some judgy know it alls on the comments

There may be some things that you may wish to buy as organic to avoid some pesticides unless being frugal somehow helps us not get cancer from chemicals. Cheers., I enjoy your content.

It was funny😂
As someone who volunteers in animal rescue you can’t imagine how helpful this item can sometimes be.
As someone who grew up on a farm it did seem a bit ridiculous but I realise most people don't have that experience so I can see the benefit.
Disagree about the food. There are so many pesticides and chemicals and harmful additives in our food. Read the labels. Do some research. Eat garbage get garbage health. And I'm way too old to be a hipster. I care about my health tho.
Very true! Same here.
Labels can also manipulate and becoming a marketing tactics that you should buy this or those.
I agree, further more free range eggs is the least we can do for the ethical treatment of the chickens for example.
I think they stopped doing this when they raised the minimum to $35 from $25. YMMV
Yup I use this tip whenever I shop on Amazon
@@frithar Nope. Still works.
This is still a thing. I haven't had Prime for the last 5 years (other than the occasional free trial) and I still get Prime-like shipping every time
I see value in the Prime Membership for one big reason: it enables you pull the trigger on products you’re tracking at the moment the price dips to something you’re happy with.
I also just want to say this: not often, but sometimes you DO need things in 1-2 days.
what do you buy from amazon?
Love your pup! Thanks for rescuing her ❤
She's definitely a true rescue! A bit traumatized, but she's improving! People can be so cruel to animals.

Food and grocery delivery can be a necessity. Not everyone can hop in the car and drive. Some people have issues that prevent them from driving.
i agree with you on all of them but not number 7 (organic in particular). a lot of studies have been done on organic/non organic & some are worth paying. i’m happy to spend money on a few organic items like strawberries, look up the ingredients between a gmo & organic strawberry. tho not everything. just the few part of the dirty dozen
Free shipping, streaming, music, books etc. Is Amazon Prime necessary? Of course not. But it can deliver a decent value
I don’t buy from Amazon, I don’t need free shipping. Free music is here on UA-cam. Your local library has many movies, ask access online to your local library movies if you are in North America.

A tip for the food. Buy organic according to the dirty dozen. That way you only spend extra on the foods that are known to have the most pesticides
I don't understand how Americans can pay such an outrageous price for Amazon Prime. In Italy it's around 50 euro and I find it convenient also because it allows me to watch films and tv series but if it were to increase I would cut it off. No way I would spend all those dollars
meat is expensive... but.... lets not full ourselves about the things we dont even think about as expensive.
potato chips $4.97 for 7 oz.
that's ... $0.71 an ounce
that's $11.36 a pound. ... for junk food.

Vegan here, I do need the supplements 😅 edit : my diet is already supervised and tested by a competent doctor, and I have been vegan for over 25 years. So far so good thank you for your interest and concerns for my health.
I do supplements too. The stuff most people are super deficient on. Potassium, magnesium glycinate, D3, K12, biotin, and omega 3,6,9.
You only need B12.
21 years a vegan and living in a cold climate we take the Vegan Society Veg1 supplement, that's all. For B12 and D3. Because lack of sunlight.
Only B 12. 19 year vegan here
You're not "saving" anything; you're destroying your health. Genius.
Most of these fit in my frugal list.
are you planning on buying a van? or multiple vans?
Do they give you free prime or do you pay....
Bullshit. 🤡
How is meat unnecessarily expensive with the excessive amounts of water, the feed, the processing, the transport that’s required to get it the consumer. Also, by shopping at Amazon, people are taking tax dollars away from their own communities, and the evil man doesn’t even pay his fair share to maintain the infrastructure that he’s fully benefitting from.

star is so adorable. good advice on being frugal. i enjoy your videos.
No one should be eating gluten. People are so dumb. It literally wears holes in the intestines. Read about zonulin.

Great tips Austin. One point women of reproductive age who may become prey should take a vitamin with folate to prevent birth defects. If you wait until you become pregnant you will have waited too long to prevent many spinal column disorders. These are super cheap tho so shouldn't be an issue for most.

We may have to agree to disagree on food part. Granted, people should watch their meat intake. I know I try to, but people do have food allergies, gluten sensitivity is a real medical thing. Also, I do believe in supporting local farmers, most of the food, from what I have seen, is organic and less expensive.
Completely agree
Good for you that you have well behaved dogs. But the food and vet fees still add up.
Agreed. Definitely not a necessity though a pet may improve your quality of life.❤
Again, owning a pet is awesome, but just not an absolutely need in most cases. My cat is at the vet at this very moment for a dental cleaning and the bill will be $700 😂 The pet insurance will cover 90% of it bust still...

It uses the Telstra network and I recharge for 366 days at a time to get the best deal. (Not sponsored, just a happy customer 😂)
Mint Mobile - you have to prepay for a year to get it for $15 a month. Just so you know.
I have had it for years. I pay less than that because I buy for a year.
Yes, and it’s totally worth it!
Our 2 dogs get dry food and we make our own wet dog food - it's less than quarter the price of the stuff we bought in little tubs. My old boy (13) was starting to struggle with back and hip pain, we dropped the dog roll in favour of our homemade food and he seems to be much better - curious.
What is the best way to get clean drinking water in your opinion
Gluten is lethal for some people. So gluten free products are needed. I agree the other things.
I ordered my phone from a unclaimed baggage website. Used $75.
I dont have amazon or fiber internet, but it doesnt seem to be expansive. Of course it add up. From my experience - if you cut what you dont need, you have money for what you really need.
Love Star and love your channel 😅
Bottled water is nonsense. Waste of money, too much plastic, and helping a terrible industry.
Eliminated bottled water this year ... I'm using 2 1.6L jugs to keep my boiled water for later use.
why do you have to boil your water? do you not have city tap water?
@@michaelmalzahn-tx2zi We generally got very clean tap water, but ... usually the contamination of tap water happens on the last mile. Your neighbor using too much fertilizer or his septic is leaking. And if this goes to your tap then your screwed (and last mile water lines are rarely inspected or never).
My friend is building well and big water treatment stations and his recommendation is to always boil your tap water, how ever clean it is in the station phase.
Sometimes I drink tap water when I'm in a hurry, but usually I avoid it.
Also there might be legionella if you live in a house with big water tank.
@@JoATTech right, isn't that what happened when they changed the water in flint. it was the people's pipes that were the problem.
well I've been drinking straight out of the tap my whole life here in Florida and have never had an issue. at least not that I know of. lol.
What illness did Peter Brabeck have?
"Rumour has it that you have a rare illness.
Fortunately it's an illness that's curable. The treatment is fairly aggressive, but it's relatively short, around six months. Already
I'm more than half way through it.
Is it going well?
I came back this morning from my latest check-up. The results show that everything is going according to plan, so I'm very
pleased.
What is this illness? A type of cancer?
I don't even know what it's called. And quite honestly, nor am I interested. When my doctor told me I was ill, we simply
discussed the options. I asked him two questions: what will happen if I do nothing? His answer was: "In six months you will no
longer be around." So that was not a solution. My second question was: "Can something be done?" To which he replied: "Yes,
it's curable and the chances of getting better are very high." So I said to him: "Let's go for it." That's all I asked him. He's the
specialist! I'm very pleased with the hospital. I've been astounded by the quality of the care and how kind the people are there."
I once had the waiter follow me outside and asked me why i didn’t tip 20%. true story
@@waziotter I had no idea!!!
I buy pasture raised chicken eggs. While the nutritional value is only slightly better I am paying for the treatment of the animals. I do agree alot of the wording on packages is a marketing gimmick, just have to do your own research.
Same here, I buy pasture raised eggs for the better treatment of the chickens, though I do find the resultant eggs taste better as a bonus.
If yiu have not watched the documentary Vegucated you may enjoy it.
@@susandean8584 Thanks. I'll check it out.
Need organic, bottled water, and definitely paper towels. You do not need a pet.
I check out hotspots from the library. 👍🏻
