    For some reason i seem to admire the startup sound of this engine. Sounds.. powerful.. and sincere.

    @h4nspeter That is how the engine is cooled, since boats don't have radiators. They just take in the water from outside, or in this case a hose, since it is about half as hot as water in a radiator. It doubles by cooling the exhaust manifolds, since the engine stays at high RPM at full throttle.

    If you mean a volvo 240, yes, you don't even need a water tank. Just modify the water circulation so it will be a closed circulation and not spew any water from the exhaust. This particular engine couldn't be used as it has a reverse rotation, but I think you could find one with normal rotation too. Just strap a gearbox onto it and slap it on. Most marine V8's are based on car engine blocks and the 2 might be largely interchangeable.

    Epic boat fitted their first line with these volvo 8.1 and had a recall replacing engines as they had major issues as the oil pan was not meant for Vdrive installs. They switched to mercruiser then. is the Oil pan thing real?

    Volvo offered a DP with the 420HP so it should not be a issue.

    Hello Again,
    Are you the Michiganmotors guy on ebay? I have been looking at your stuff! I would like to possibly purchase a couple of fuel water separators for my 2002 twin 8.1 volvo penta Doral Boca Grande. I have aluminum tanks and I think the fuel I buy at the marina has condensation in it each spring...what would be the best application Thanks

    all that water coming out of the exhaust? I know nothing about marine engines, so this question might come across as a bit stupid

    • @MA69Supra
      @MA69Supra 6 років тому +2

      Its a marine engine so it has an open circulation where it uses whatever water it’s in to cool it and spit it back out

    @sorryunlucky If it was THAT much petrol it would have choked out immediately. its a marine engine so i needs water, and water is always directed out the exhaust.

    nice video. i got a question.
    my 8.1 gi-f blew up so im looking for a replacement, i found 1 brand new engine (turn key) but its a 420hp, mine is a 375, do you think i can use this 420hp with my dp outdrive? i hear 1 guy said will be fine and ok and i heard someone saying that if i do that it will blow up my drive ( i think the 420hp turns 5k rpms), so what you all think? thanks !
