why are adults, just because they're in college, expected to go not to the local police, but to a school administrator, to have their allegations of sexual assault investigated and adjudicated? do we lose our constitutional rights while in college?
I agree they should be able to go to university or city police. Having students go exclusively to university police is a way to benefit the university by keeping control of what occurred on their campus within the university.
Title IX saved my education. I am a male survivor of blackmail and extortion and the experience was gut-wrenchingly awful. If it weren't for Title IX, I don't know if I would be graduating in 6 weeks.

Title IX only works if the people in charge are competent. A lot of people experience incompetent handling of cases. As a complainant I didn't receive due process. They did the most to discourage me from having a formal complaint hearing. Very disappointing experience.
Sexual misconducts can be as insignificant as using the word homosexual in a sentence, without targeting anyone, if the person in front of you is founding it inappropriate... true story...
