"This is for you Junaid" meant this: remember Junaid Jamshed, lead vocalist of Pakistan's first boy band, Vital Signs fro whom the finale of Coke Studio featured a special cover song, "Uus Rah Par' featuring Ali Zafar, Ali Hamza and Strings? You already know we lost hi last year in a plane crash. This song, "Namumkin" was originally sung by him and Shahi HAsan (the guy singing it now) was a close friend of JJ and bass guitarist of Vital Signs. He was a judge on this season of Pepsi Battle of the Bands and on he performed this song during the finale. So, "This is for you, Junaid" meant that Shahi was singing the song in remembrance of his friend and band mate and it was an extremely emotional performance for both Shahi and the audience.

@Robin & Jesper Hello I am from Pakistan and I love your reactions. I would suggest you should do homework before giving your reaction to the songs or trailer. Like this Namumkin was originally performed by Vital Signs which is not Rock band at all. In this version of pepsi battle of the band the vocalist is member of Vital Signs and this is a tribute song to Junaid Jamshed who was lead vocalist of Vital Signs. Secondly don't compare every song to Jilawatan because every song has different genre and feel. Pepsi battle of the band is not about only Rock or Heavy metal bands. It gives bands from all genres. also I would suggest watch pepsi battle of the bands. Shahi Hasan is one of the judges and pioneer of bands in Pakistan. Vital Signs is the first band of Pakistan. Vital Signs is like The Beatles.

He said "this is for you junaid." Junaid was the original singer of the song and he was the guitarist of that band. Junaid died in a plane crash. That's why he dedicated the song to junaid.
How can you both react to such a wonderful song since you have no history of this song so far u guys dont even know it was a tribute to a lead vocalist who died last year, while this guy was a bassist of that group name vital signs, get some knowledge before commenting on anything that is very personal for some fans out here. The lead singer JJ has passed away in a plane crash in 2016, so this was a tribute by a band member to JJ. The singer's name is Shahzad Hassan Shahi, and he was originally a bassist and backing vocals for the iconic Pakistani band 'Vital Signs' .. by the way, this song was 22 years old.
It actually wasn't a battle of the band song performed by a participating band. It was an early 90s vital signs band song sung by one of the judges who was a part of that band and sung as tribute to the vocalist of that old band who passed away in plane crash last year. Vital signs used to be huge in late 80s till late 90s. The guy singing was actually a guitarist of that band. It is the first time he sang.
Junaid was the lead of that band in 90s but he is no more now he died in a plane crash he was the best. Vital signs was the kik ass band in 90s .May his soul rest in peace.

Hello guys, here's a little background to the song. This guy, the vocalist in this performance is not a singer, to the best of my knowledge he hasn't sung before publicly. He was actually a bass player in one of the two most successful bands in pakistan's pop rock music history, VITAL SIGNS(pop band). The other one was junoon a Sufi rock band, We'll talk about them some other time.
This band vital signs ruled the Music Industry from mid 80s to mid 90s, after the band disbanded the vocalist, Junaid Jamshed launched his solo career but it didn't turn out to be very successful, he went into depression. He then met a very popular Islamic personality Tariq Jameel who persuaded him to leave the life of music. Eventually he left music and devoted his life for his religion. But he was literally on streets. After some time he started a clothing business which eventually was a big success. During these years he frequently appeared on TV for different shows like a Ramadan transmissions and interviews. We all know him very well the last days of his life were very emotional and disturbing for all of us. He was accused of making blasphemous Statments for which he publicly apologised, but extremists kept critisizing him on social media and other public forums. He was once attacked and humiliated at an airport. He even forgave them, on the spot.
He was such a good human. Always talked about love and peace.
Unfortunately, we lost him in a plane crash last year. That's why in coke studio they paid him a tribute with "us raah par" and here his old band mate, his very close friend, Shaahi Hassan sang this song which was originally sung by Junaid himself.

You guys are right that your expectations were high maybe bcoz of the hype of requests for this video but this song is actually not that high and loud but very calm. its an old song sung by Junaid Jamshed and the singer in the video (Shahi Hasan -group member/guitarist of the band vital signs, Junaid Jamshed was the lead singer of the band) who sung it in remembrance of Junaid Jamshed like the one "Uss Rah Par" sung by strings, Ali Zafar & Ali Hamza in coke studio as a tribute to Junaid Jamshed. Actually JJ. himself and his songs have a very emotional attachment and connection with Pakistanis. The lyrics of the song "Uss Rah par" is actually a true depiction of his real life and journey. He left music and chose religion (we call it choosing religion/right path over world) when he was at the height of his stardom. He was a great man, a great human, he did tremendous humanitarian works, he helped each and everyone he knew thatswhy the people of both sides (his religious & music fellows) remember him in good words bcoz he was a great human above all. Although, he's been humiliated, ridiculed for almost everything when he left music and became religious but he never uttered a single bad word for anyone. For us Pakistanis, there cannot be another Junaid Jamshed. Hope you might get a little bit idea from my long comment. But if you really want to see some powerful performances, check out old seasons of coke studio produced by Rohail Hyatt (another member of Junaid Jamshed's group Vital signs). majority of pakistani music is love songs, slow romantic songs full of their beloved's praise and confirmations of love. real sweet songs. though its true that we can play rock very well and some of our rock music is superb but these type of music is not mainstream. light romantic happy sad pop music is the prevailing music scene
Dear sir, it was just a tribute to the late vocalist of greatest ever pakistani pop band namely VITAL SIGNS... the said band was not a rock band rather they had their own unique style.. Inspiration frm western music is evident in their music but they never let any parrticular western style/ musician/ genre to dominate their music... & thats why many consider them one of the finest pakistani bands ever.....

Robin & Jesper great respect for you guys from Pakistan! but I am emotionally forced to mention here that this Band 'Vital Signs' was a late 80's band which played together till 95, was one of the Most popular band of that Era from Pakistan! and they produced many hit singles at that time including the legendary 'DIL DIL PAKISTAN' of 1988. but they stopped performing after their Vocalist Junaid Jamshaid wellknown as JJ quit the band. and after that they never performed. Junaid Died in Plane Air crash while Visiting chitral Last year December, 2016. this song was done by the actual bassist of the that legendary band who was not the actual singer of this song, but they did this song to pay tribute to Junaid Jamshaid.. Only the lead guitarist and the vocalist in this performance are from the actual band line up and the rest of them are not the part of the actual line up. so this song meant allot because this song was one of the last songs they recorded in late 1995 for their last Album they produced.

Its a battle of the BANDS. Not all bands are death metal bands. Music critique should be open to all kinds of music, not just a particular genre of music.
