I want to import entities with a satisfy relationship where I have the name of the element in which a single element satisfies numerous requirements (80+) with the satisfy or satisfies relationship. Can this be done via import, or is there another way to perform the traceability quicker than manual data entry?
Hello. Im not sure if table import from Excel is available in v 2021x - I think yes. This capability can create links easily with existing elements in the model. Just have elements in same location - package! docs.nomagic.com/display/MD2024xR1/Sync+with+Excel+or+CSV+files
I am trying to import Epics from Jira as a class in a csv, identifying a relationship of satisfies, to requirements listed by requirement id. I have Cameo21x but I am not sure on how to set up the mapping. Essentially importing to entity types with a relationship so the import creates the relationship between the two entities. Unless you have a better method in allocating a relationship between 2 entities in the model without having to hand jam them together. Some of the Epics have 80 requirements in which they satisfy.
I have several custom columns that I created in the table. But when I try to import the requirements from the Excel spreadsheet, no information from Excel is populated for the custom columns, only for the built-in ones. Is there a way to fix this?
@@MBSEExecution I went to the top of the table and clicked "Columns" -> "New Custom Column" but yes, the problem is that there is no logic (or like you said, no stereotype or tags) applied to them. I checked online as well and it seems like you can either pick one of the existing ones or create your own but you need to know how to do it through either metachain or implied relations. Seems like the easier way would be to stick with the built-in stereotypes. Thank you for the quick response!
Hello, Thank you for posting. My question is in regards to how you formatted your Derived Requirement Column in Excel. I did not use the copy paste method for my import. Instead, I clicked the option '>>' (in the upper toolbar)->[clicked the Excel icon]->Excel/CSV File->Select File then customized the options so my Excel columns match the requirement table columns. I am having issues importing in the derived requirements when there are more than just 1 that need to import into the same cell. What syntax do you use in Excel in order to allow for Magicdraw to read in multiple separate derived requirements in the same cell in a requirements table? My question directly relates to the requirement name 'd' in your example. I see requirement 'd' has its derived requirements spaced on different lines in Excel, are there any specific keystrokes taken to do that? Thank you!
I actually was able to figure it out. 'Alt+Enter' between Id's when creating the list in Excel drops a line and allows for perfect import into Magicdraw requirements tables!
alt+enter did not get my multiple derived requirements pasted. I had to copy- paste those cells separately. Any idea why? I dislike when a process doesn't quite completely work.
Hello Candy. If you are pasting in table place your cursor on the table you want to paste the copied excel cells and press Ctrl+V. Also you can use Excel Synchronization - docs.nomagic.com/pages/viewpage.action?mobileBypass=true&spaceKey=MD190SP3&title=Sync+with+Excel+or+CSV+files
Thanks for presenting this...when I paste...I get the rows and the first column but not the rest of the column content. Columns are not editable either. Have any ideas? Thanks
Hello, hard to say what's going wrong. Maybe you can share sample project and excel with support team at support.nomagic.com ? Also maybe you can use newest recent MS Excel synchronization capability. More about it is available at: docs.nomagic.com/display/MD190SP2/Sync+with+Excel+or+CSV+files
Hey, thanks for posting, I could easily reconstruct this. I tried a similar thing to import actors and a generalization relation. So, I have the columns "name", "description" and a derived property column, type simple navigation, "generalization" ticked. Pasting from Excel works so far, the relations are created. BUT: Only if one generalizing actor is in that last column. If there are more (seperated by alt+enter in excel), they get ignored. The multiplicity of the derived property is 0...*. What can I do to make it work similarly like in the requierments table, where I can easily import more than one relation? Thanky for any hints.
Thank you for the feedback and question Gauner! Maybe you can contact support regarding this matter? This could be best way to get to right expert response.

thank you very much for sharing this tutorial! Your videos are always filling the gap of cameo official manual. I have a specific question: let's say that I have an active link (URL) in a text cell of my excel spreadsheet and I want to import the requirements preserving the clickable link. Is there a way to preserve the link? I have tried to set HTML mode in the text field in cameo but at every import it seems that it is overwritten back into plain text, removing the link. thanks!

Hello, how did you create custom columns? They shall be read / write based on stereotype and tags not derived properties which would be read only.

@@MBSEExecution yes I know how to sync. However copy and paste don't work for multiple entries.
Interesting. Shall work in general. Maybe you can share small sample MBSEexecution@gmail.com ?

I could not paste into the table. The pasted rows would not show in the table. Please help! Thanks!

Thank you for your feedback! Maybe ReqIF import would preserve it? File > Import From > ReqIF
