The Knicks will realize sooner or later that they just traded for an oversized perimeter player that happens to play center but has guard aspirations. KAT drives to the paint a lot which could collapse the defense, but his finishing is legit terrible and he falls down a lot in the process which leads to easy fast break points for the opponents since he happens to be a big that's supposed to help in the paint on defense. He also for some reason cannot post up smaller players. If you want to shut KAT down, just put your 4 on him and he won't be able to outspeed them and outmuscle them. I’m just worried about health with these guys. They lost some depth and as a raptors fan, OG is someone who consistently gets injured. Otherwise, I think this is going to be a fun season. The east has got a lot stronger and will hopefully be healthy this year.
The irony in all of this is that KAT is easily game-plannable, so an opposing team can mitigate his offense by getting him out on the perimeter on D, plus now the defense is more reliant on OG and Mitchell Robinson - who are injury prone. It is a good trade for the Knicks but not one that moves the needle imo
Its kinda shabby the teams are trading two guys who held up their respective teams through rough times. Randle started the turn around in New York still smarting from ditching Porzingis and losing on Durant and Irving while KAT was a home boy, a star big man who didnt want out of Minnesota. Maybe Rande will jive with the team but i think AE had a brother in KAT.
Knicks are top heavy. I give them props for what they did over the summer but they have 7 maybe 8 players that are going to contribute and with the way tibbs coaches, thats gone be down to 2 by the playoffs. So congrats but I'm not sold even a little. It takes a bench to win a chip.

A lot of people saying the Knicks lost the trade but Randle and Robinson are going to miss a big chunk of the regular season season losing Donte sucks but the Knicks viewed him as the 3rd best shooting guard after Mikal and deuce and they don’t like deuce as a backup pg which Tyler kolek will be day 1

This is crazy that’s for sure, when I saw the news last night I was going crazy. I’m just very confused from the Timberwolves perspective because was KAT’s value really that low or is Randle’s value really that high? Or is it a mixture or am I missing this completely and the whole reason the Timberwolves did this trade was for Donte Divencenzo? I personally do not think Randle’s trade value is that high but I may be wrong. KAT is still an amazing piece, so I’m surprised the Timberwolves couldn’t get more for KAT. As Dom said I don’t think Randle will necessarily be a good fit on the Timberwolves but I may be wrong. And if I am right what could the Timberwolves do to upgrade and trade Randle? I personally don’t think Randle fits in today’s NBA he would be awesome in the 90s early 2000s. But where would Randle succeed in today’s NBA and be more than a rotation player for a contender? Because by how this trade looks the Timberwolves see Randle as more than a rotation player, but I don’t personally think his playstyle works in today’s NBA to be a key contributor to a successful team
By many accounts, the Timberwolves did this more so for financial reasons. KAT's contract on top of what they already owe to Ant, Rudy, and McDaniels and will owe to Naz Reid will make it very difficult for them to make moves down the line. Removing KAT's deal gives them more breathing room.
@@urbaindelva7869 yea that makes complete sense now that I was made aware. I did not know that but still the Randle fit is questionable, I wonder what they’ll do with him if they’ll keep him or trade him with that pick for hopefully someone who fits better
Randles played with Robinson for most of his career. Plus he occupies different spots on the floor. It looks bad on paper but it isn’t as bad as people are making it seem
Shameful move by the wolves. I understand being concerned about long term contact but you can’t think that far ahead, you have a team That’s ready to win NOW, and you just made your team much worse. Kat gets a lot of heat but he’s an all star and a terrific shooter and big body defender that was key in beating the defending champs. Julius Randle is a spacing killer and a black hole with the ball.
Understand that Gobert is the best rim protector in the NBA but he’s peaked and KAT still has much room for growth. He’s not known for defence but played great on both sides of the floor against Denver. He just faded vs Dallas… but yeah maybe a change of scenery would help KAT

smart move KAT is not worth his contract, t wolves can add a better superstar once they get off the randle contract. Reid is a better fit for them than KAT.
KAT is a defensive liability. He fouls way too often. It's the reason why the wolves needed Gobert to play 5 because KAT at that position couldn't last 1 quarter before being subbed out.
There were also moments last year in the playoffs when the wolves sat KAT for Naz Reid. I understand some Knicks fans excitement but they need to tone it down to cautiously optimistic.

In the Western Conference perspective, I think the only team that really benefits from this trade in the Thunder. The west is definitely wide open now and the season hasn't even started yet. The Thunder don't even have to get another first seed this season, they just have to be at minimum the 4th and they could still make the finals assuming nobody gets hurt.
Exactly I think they rest Chet more (he played all 82 and they just signed a big that’s gonna make 30 mil per year) and they rest Shai more they’ve got nothing to prove in the regular season and it’s very possible they have the freshest legs out of anyone in the west come playoff time

Noti type shiii
Idec no more bro. My Knicks just love losing
Wolves are not flipping Randall. He's just an expiring contract so they don't have to pay so much luxury tax or stay in that second salary cap apron.
this is the best trade that could have happened ... for the 76ers
If we see a "I went to Minnesota to pray on Timberwolves downfall in next year's Finals", Dom2K's GOT TO BE the goat...
Right? 😭😂😂
we really can't have franchise players anymore
Knicks vs. Celtics starting 5 matchups, who wins?
PG: bruson vs. holiday
SG: hart vs. white
SF: brown vs. bridges
PF: tatum vs. OG
C: kristaps vs. kat
What happens when mitchell robinson comes back. Knicks have a literal TWIN Tower at Center.
@@emersonssbb I think kat starts at the 5 and Robinson once healthy will come off the bench but start next to towns against certain matchups
@@thedepresseddog6035 Thats gotta be the tallest team ever.Mitch/Kat/OG/Mikal/Brunson.
@@emersonssbb robinson is a liability on offense and cant hit free throws.
@@vulcanraven9701 He is still a good defender. And they gonna need more defense when they face a team like Celtics. All the teams Celtics lost to last year were teams with Height.
Nevermind the picks Charlotte got from Minny and NY. Minnesota two future second round picks, and NY one second...i believe. One of those two teams is gonna brush up on the wrong side of a draft, though one isn't until like 2031?
I'm confused about this decision from the Knicks perspective 🤔
Can’t resign randle after the season and kat fills the role at center
You dont think they could get more for kat then they could get for randle and first round pick ?
A lot of people saying the Knicks lost the trade but Randle and Robinson are going to miss a big chunk of the regular season season losing Donte sucks but the Knicks viewed him as the 3rd best shooting guard after Mikal and deuce and they don’t like deuce as a backup pg which Tyler kolek will be day 1
what I’m saying like rn I trust out depth kolek deuce I think we’re gonna be okay
I herd Kat say, while in Kentucky, he said NYK is my childhood team, I have a Sprewell jersey. Google searched and he grew up in New Jersey. So, New York Sate of Mind, maybe?
Thibs don't like playing his bench. Thats why everyone was hurt. I have no problem with the team. but thibs gotta stop relying on heavy minutes for starters
still don’t understand this move from the timberwolves
this is karls team and he will take them far if healthy , he has a better team
Knicks got an embid with better defense. I like this trade I will miss DV and Randle
Timberwolves were supposed to trade KAT to clear up the logjam and get deeper and start Naz Reid. The only way they can justify this imo is if they package JMac and Naz for an elite defensive wing
Jmac might be the best wing defender in the league…
@@st3ll4n34 I’m saying get someone who is like 90-95 percent of his defense while being much better offensively
@@bedstuy4_l895 JMAC literally made the all defense 2nd team lol. I don’t think you’ve watched much of the wolves. KAT was unfortunately the odd man out. Plus he sucked in the WCF. If KAT shoots even 35% in the WCF the wolves probably win game 1 2 and 3.
Why tf would they trade j mac lol that’s like asking for Ant to want out
@@RealisticTimberwolvesFan i think the mian problem with wolves is that mcdaniels and gobert are both weak offense players. That puts all the pressure on the other 3 starters to score. as for kat he helped provide scoring but his heavy contract and nonexistent defense left holes elsewhere.
Very bad trade for both teams, but Minnesota at least got a great shooter (who probably have down year away from his nova boys) and a first round pick
Domstradamus! I think NY wins this trade!
KAT is also a thibs guy, both seem to trust each other
Wolves will make another trade.
Lol if you think Randles getting moved before the season, I'm sorry to tell ya brodie, but that aint happening. I really think they're gonna tey to make this work somehow. Maybe bringing 1 of them off the bench.... idfk
I understand being concerned about long term contact but you can’t think that far ahead, you have a team
That’s ready to win NOW, and you just made your team much worse. Kat gets a lot of heat but he’s an all star and a terrific shooter and big body defender that was key in beating the defending champs.
Julius Randle is a spacing killer and a black hole with the ball.
Towns will need to literally get into a fight with Embiid while playing in NY
Understand that Gobert is the best rim protector in the NBA but he’s peaked and KAT still has much room for growth. He’s not known for defence but played great on both sides of the floor against Denver. He just faded vs Dallas… but yeah maybe a change of scenery would help KAT
KAT is 28 he already most likely peak highly doubt he gets drastically better
@@Wrestle_Kingdom 28 means he is in his prime he can defnitely still get better especially after his showing against Denver, this guy;s probably that 3rd/4th best C in the league and he could even get better
@@cinnabar546 he can get better but saying he has a lot of room to grow is a bit much also 3rd or 4th best center I mean I guess we just view him differently
@@Wrestle_Kingdom I think he is 3rd/4th I dont see any other Cs besides jokic embiid and probably AD who's better than him
They could have gotten so much more for Kat sure they got a all star and a top teir role player idk
the best shooting big in the league. tingus poingus jokic
I don’t like the trade for either team
Timberwolves sold their soul for a bag of chips
Should he stay in this role… Randle should call Scottie pippen about his role and defense tips
as a fan, i despise the new CBA
that’s it, that’s all
The rare double L kat barely showed up in Minnesota no chance he can handle playing in New York if we’re being honest and the last time he was coached by tibs it didn’t go well either that jimmy butler practice/beef shouldn’t be forgotten
Towns is a 7ft Lemon.
"Clears up the scene"???
Tf you on?
The east boutta be stacked next year
Stacked?
I only see three legit ECFinalists: Boston, NY and Indiana.
Anyone else is a *pretender* . Sorry not sorry 🤷♂️
@@ColdHoops sixers are in that conversation and the bucks aren’t far behind
smart move KAT is not worth his contract, t wolves can add a better superstar once they get off the randle contract. Reid is a better fit for them than KAT.
There goes the Timberwolves chances at making the Finals.
They can flip JR and that pick and someone for Ingram.
20K 12h 416K subs
Imagine moving from NYC to Minnesota 🤮
Go wolves
Knicks got fleeced 😂
KAT is a defensive liability. He fouls way too often. It's the reason why the wolves needed Gobert to play 5 because KAT at that position couldn't last 1 quarter before being subbed out.
There were also moments last year in the playoffs when the wolves sat KAT for Naz Reid. I understand some Knicks fans excitement but they need to tone it down to cautiously optimistic.
So is Julius Randle but he has no 3-point shot and can’t space the floor.
KAT is on a SUPERMAX contract,a bad contract 2nd apron, any team that he is on will be above the salary cap... give me a list of players that the wolves can get on kat next season.. the wolves are just playing safe and business decision.good move for wolves ,wolves cannot pay 3 supermax player gobert antman and him bec wolves is a low market team, dumb trade for knicks
I'm sad
the first round pick was too much
Minnesota is never gonna see that first round pick
Timberwolves got worse
Ant Man gonna have to carry carry now
In the Western Conference perspective, I think the only team that really benefits from this trade in the Thunder. The west is definitely wide open now and the season hasn't even started yet. The Thunder don't even have to get another first seed this season, they just have to be at minimum the 4th and they could still make the finals assuming nobody gets hurt.
Exactly I think they rest Chet more (he played all 82 and they just signed a big that’s gonna make 30 mil per year) and they rest Shai more they’ve got nothing to prove in the regular season and it’s very possible they have the freshest legs out of anyone in the west come playoff time
Sam Presti and OKC aren't worried bout nothing.
2026 will be their year
ATL gets: Mike Conley, Julius Randle, NAW, L. Miller, Pistons pick
MIN gets: Trae Young
MIN lineup:
Trae
Ant
McDaniels
Reid
Gobert
Bench (8-Man Rotation) = Dillingham, DiVincenzo, Shannon Jr.
I believe the hawks say no
tbh this is stupid the young is not that valuable
@@IMTROLLINGYOU99 Nah the wolves laugh at that offer and hang the phone up. Mike is more important than you think he is since he's now gonna be mentoring both Ant and Rob and he's the only point guard on the team that can run the offense. ATL is lucky if they even manage to get Randle and NAW as an offer lol. No one wants Trae right now.
@@kgtd2160 Trae young can run that wolves team wayyyyy better than Mike, second why would hawks get Randle when they have Jalen Johnson who is younger and Zach too
What in the MyGM mode is this?
wolves have to go for trae young and surround him and ant with shooters and defenders, they are overpaying gobert like a mf but i believe him, trae, ant, possibly naz if they can keep would be super solid
Crazy thing about this move is nyers aren’t happy. To me, it makes no sense, but I think they’ll hop on the bandwagon by December
Idk why they wouldnt like this they got an All NBA 3pt sniper 7fter ? I hopped on the knicks and wolves bandwagon after my cavs and lakers got eliminated
Because as Dom said the idea of KAT is better than KAT himself. I’m just flash forwarding to him fouling out in the playoffs or shooting 2-10 3pt and 4-12
@@angelmercedes2029 the idea of randle is better than randle. Randle plays too much iso ball, eat up the shot shot clock, and then forces the team into a bad shot. He gives up on plays and complains when things aren’t going his way. He’s also streaky and an abysmal playoff performer, worse than Kat.
Ultimately, kat is the better player and the better fit. Stats are averages, and there’s a lot of good in Kat’s stats. Those goods should be be brought up along with the bads (e.g., him getting into foul trouble in some games). You weigh the two together and realize his goods outweigh the bad.
@@Nead_Dill_Dickersons_jr just say you don’t watch Knicks basketball. Reading that gave you away. You just watch highlights. He’s become a much smarter player since Jalen came
@@angelmercedes2029 it’s called highlights not lowlights Lmaoo. I wouldn’t know randle gives up on plays just by watching Knicks highlights goofball.

The best move ever! As long as this bum Randle is gone, NYC has the greatest day ever! We look at it as (KAT traded for DiVincenzo) Randle was just scraps. TY Knicks fur making this happen!! What a wonderful day!!!!
Jackson Anthony Lee Sharon Thomas Ruth
Remember Karl was hurt for a month at the end of last season the wolves played great without him this is definitely an upgrade
Is KAT going to play D?
Is he gonna play the 5?
@MuttonErase that's a good question. I assumed he would, but I also believe that even the new york cheerleaders play D under tibbs
Having bridges, og, hart, and robinson will make up for kat as a defender
@MuttonErase probably have him start at the 5 until robinson gets healthy, then could move kat to the 4 for some match ups
Thibs defo didnt pull this move lol
Randle aint it. Maybe Kat for the Unicorn. Kat for Vuc, or shit anyone else on a similar contract except hot headed Randle. He not hot headed to the opposition.......to his own team. Why add that.
