My aunt could sing. My dad showed me his sister and i was blown away. I was told she was a great woman. Wish i got to meet you aunt cathy. We all miss and love you.
It was an amazing time. I especially miss the music, but also the movies, restaurants, and the way we all got along. Also, I remember seeing Cathy perform on Jerry Lewis' telethons. Cool lady.
This is my Aunt Cathy. I love and miss her so much. I feel blessed to be named after such an amazing person. She had the heart like no one I've ever met.
I often come back to listen to Cathy Carlson's lovely version of this superb pop standard. Although I am most familiar with the Carpenters' outstanding version of this song, Cathy does it proud, for sure. It's a wonderful record. I also enjoy hearing Jack Jones, Anne Murray, and Vikki Carr's takes on it, too. I wish the versatile Jody Miller could have taken a crack at it. She uses such inventive phrasing that I would have loved hearing how she would have approached it. Wonderful upload
I'm really missing her today. I wish my children could have had her sing to them. Thankfully people have put my mother's albums on UA-cam so I can play them for my babies and they can hear their amazing grandmother.
@Leigha Shaker. Out of all the versions I've heard, hands down your mom's is *the best*. Her voice is so soulful and she sang with her heart. You must be so proud.
Hi Leigha. I love your mom's singing so much. She had a quality you only here in great singers like Dionne Warwick. She should be better known. Was she from San Diego or did she live in SD when she was young? I ask because she worked with June Jackson, who discovered , wrote for, and produced a lot of talent from San Diego.
1970 was such a good period in music with many new changes occuring which saw new faces in music that would become everyone's soundtrack. keep up the amazing work and discoveries.
I must confess my ignorance of this lovely singer (until now). After hearing this tune I played all the other UA-cam tracks I could find. I think her most up-tempo and rocking single (also produced by Don Costa on DCP) is "I Didn't Know What Time It Was" (1975). Thanks for motivating me to broaden my musical knowledge Anthony!
hi , my name is pepe gonzalez and i conduct the orchestra for Cathy many times in Aruba. She sings like a angel.I still have some recording live and ill put it in you tube.My son and her daughter have the same age.And she was Beatiful!!!!!
You pick good singles many would say should've been hits and this record here introduced the sounds of orchestration of the seventies many us will hear throughout that decade. It's too bad Cathy didn't get the boost radio hits but her voice showed the greatness of what she can bring on to disc or in front of the camera.
Yeah, it is. It's second to this one. I loved Karen's version for many years and always will. I heard this just a few weeks ago for the first time and, to my ears, Cathy's vocal is actually better (almost an impossible feat).
This is such a great track but your 45 isn't in very good shape. The center hole appears to be really off or you didn't have a spindle to play this back. Lovely tune, though, and I appreciate your efforts.
OLD SKOOL GROOVES ARE STILL THE BEST GROOVES.THANKS FOR THIS POST.

Well said. This is such a classic American Pop song. The way they USED to be written. It has 1970 written all over it. An amazing time it was.

I love this so much. Thanks, Cathy Carlson. Your voice is so beautiful!
Love this tune, Paul Williams knew how to turn an excellent phrase!!

@@davividavid aww that you for your kind words. She was born in Oregon but was raised in Encinitas California, which is in San Diego.
Why did this not chart??? Cathy's vocal is spot on and the arrangement is beautiful.
Much Gratitude .

This is a beautiful song and cool at the same time.

I really like this chord progression and melody and her voice.
Really amazing sound!!
Love her version and the arrangement.
Great track, cheers.
Love it!!
Let me be the one you run to let me be the one you come to when you need someone to turn to.

I love the Carpenters version the best and Cathy Carlsons too I love her version.
Supeeerrrbbb!!! thumbs up
I cannot believe this record never charted in 1970.
She's got a Diana Ross thing going - really suits this song. I wish the grooves were a little more centered at the pressing, but thanks for posting!
Let me be the one.
Best version. Has a more fuller sound than the Carpenters version, with the instrumentation and background singers and Cathy is great on lead vocals.
L Lance Of course it does! It’s a Don Costa arrangement! The man is a genius. This blew me away!
Great song. Her voice reminds me of Diana Ross, just a tiny bit deeper.

Karen Carpenter's version is second to none.

I'm only posting so there will be one from someone who isn't related to Cathy Carlson! ;)
I would love to hear and see Elisabeth Greenberger sing this song to me.
Sounds a little like Diana Ross...
