    Thanks for the Video, I appreciated your candid comments when you figured out what you did wrong, not leaving it up to us to guess. I've never installed a garage door opener; however, I consider myself as a DIY Guy so your video convinced me to take this on myself and avoid paying the $200 installation fee! Nice job. Best.

    Very useful video. I just finished installing my first belt driven garage door opener, the Chamberlain B970. I did the same thing that the author JungleKing007 did, I didn't use the 5/16" diameter clevis pin because it was loose fitting. Instead I reused another manufacturer's door bracket, clevis pin and curved door arm. The advantage of reusing the existing door bracket is that you don't need to remove it, drill holes for the new bracket, fill the old holes with caulk and repaint the outside of the garage door. It was necessary for me to reverse the Chamberlain straight door arm, but I was able to get two 1/2" bolts to match up with the other manufacturer's curved door arm. I have the original heavy two car garage door on a 1966 house.
    When the other manufacturer's 1/2hp screw drive model ceased to open and close the garage door I replaced the carriage as their tech support suggested, but it didn't fix the problem. I called the other manufacturer's tech support again and was told to replace the sequencer board. I asked her to spell it for me which she did. When I searched for it I soon found out she had not spelled it correctly. Another video's author said that if the sequencer board is bad you might as well change units which is I bought the Chamberlain 1 1/4hp. I hope I don't have any more problems.

    Great job! Your being very thorough helped provide extra insight required for even a more recent installation, including various other models manufactured similarly.

    Now I see what I done wrong! I didn't adjust the travel button. That's why my railing kept bending when I open/close the door. Thank You so much!

    Very informative video. It's encouraging to see that you did this by yourself. I assembled the garage door opener, but had the trolley in wrong direction, which was quite difficult to fix. I'll try to finish the install this weekend. (Your old and new garage door openers look the same as mine)

      JungleKing007 The install went just fine, though it took me all afternoon. I took my time as it was the first time I'd done this and didn't want to mess up anything I couldnt easily fix. I saved a good bit of time by leaving the U shaped nails in place from the old one, though I did add a few extras in spots that I thought needed it or where I'd accidentally popped an old one off the wall. I was pleasantly surprised when it worked the first time I turned it on. Can't say as I have any complaints about the instructions either, though I did find your video really helpful. Thanks again!

    Best part of this video was the idea to run the sensor wires through the shaft. Unfortunately, I didn't decide to do that until I found out that my existing sensors wouldn't work with this unit and I had to install the new ones anyway. My suggestion to anyone looking to run the wires inside, drop them in the tab that got bent up near the end of the shaft. Don't run them through the pulley area. Before you install the shaft, run a line (rope or something like it) through the shaft and tape off the ends so that you can tape your wires to the line and pull them through the shaft.

    Hi thanks for the video. I noticed that you installed the long arm to the trolley. I'm installing my opener now, and my directions said, unless I'm reading it incorrectly, to attached the rocker arm to the trolley and the long arm to the door. Am I mistaken?

      +Steve Fish I don't think the sensors from the old unit were compatible with the new one. Plus I think I made the wiring look better by putting in the new ones.

    I just bought a Chamberlain WIFI whisper garage door opener. I'm in the same "boat" as you. Never done this before and am replacing a working Chamberain belt drive. I was hoping I could just "swap" the driver unit and not everything as you did. I will find out shortly. Anyway, after reading the manual I was a little confused on some parts but your video explained everything so well I feel confident I can swap out mine now with no problems, even if I have to replace the rail system. What do you think about my idea of not replacing the rail portion?

    • @jungleking007Channel
      @jungleking007Channel  7 років тому

      I would replace everything. There may be slight differences between models that will make using old parts impractical. Plus, you spent the money on the kit that includes all new parts. Might as well start fresh. Thanks for watching and Good Luck!

    There can be nice features with new openers, although at my old place I was lucky enough not to have those crappy idiot sensors, so I would not have given up on that opener. I almost took it with me when I moved, lol. In this case, at the very least, I think I would have reused the T rail. Box rails are annoyingly flimsy.
    That new opener does have a pretty color, tho.

    Hi, should the trolley track be perfectly level...does it matter if the motor end is a bit higher/lower than the header end? thx for posting the video!

    • @jungleking007Channel
      @jungleking007Channel  8 років тому

      +Keith Tse think the book says to make it as level as possible. I think mine slopes very slightly downward towards the door. Haven't seen this having caused any issues with how the door is raised and lowers. If the slope is to severe there May be issues with over extending the arm or binding in the track.

    Hi Jungleking007 I have the same belt drive opener shown in this video but the model number is different than the model number shown in this video and I currently have it sitting in the back garage right now what do you think about it

    • @jungleking007Channel
      @jungleking007Channel  7 років тому

      +brandon ward I like it a lot. It's quiet, opens quickly, and very little maintenance needed. The best feature of this unit in my opinion is the auto close feature. If we accidentally forget to press the button to close the door and we drive off, it will do it on its own after a preset time(ours is 5 minutes). Mainly for security.

    • @jungleking007Channel
      @jungleking007Channel  8 років тому

      +saboor saboor it's pretty quiet to me. Kitchen is on the other side of the door and can not hear it open. The majority of the noise could be coming from your door. Try lubricating the guide wheels and the hinges. May also have someone check the spring tension to make sure there is not too much stress on the opener motor.

    • @jungleking007Channel
      @jungleking007Channel  7 років тому

      +joe Bender You are pressing and holding the button until the necessary down position is reached. May have to bump it a few times to get the last inch or two. I apologize it wasn't perfect, but holding a camera and manual, balancing on a ladder, and pressing buttons at the same time can be a bit difficult.
