Thanks for sharing this special version of Headbanger!! made by YuppeMetal aka Yuyoyuppe, you'll see his hand behind other BM songs, he also got another remix under an alternative name called DJ Tekina, song is Megitsune'.
They performed this song prior to this live at Legend D 2012 celebrating SuMetal 15 birthday.
The intro Ave Maria was performed only this time.
If you look closely the statue's face is resembling a Japanese face which is why we consider is SuMetal, plus is related to the lore because at the end the statue is crumbling down representing her "virgin" Jpop idol form death while she reborn into a metal goddess queen.
The dancers you saw with them are called sister-bones, they usually performed live during this special songs and Black Babymetal songs.
There are more special Headbanger!! version like the live at Legend M 2019 MoaMetal 20th Birthday also called by fans "Moabanger", or live at Legend Metal Galaxy Day 2, another notacult moment.
    See you next time 🦊🤘🔥

When the star pattern light shines on the statue it transforms into a pop goddess statue. And in the ending song - BabyMetal Death when the statue's head breaks off it's a metal goddess statue. So statues play an important role in the Legend 1997 concert.🦊

Legend 1997 was just one concert, this was the grand entrance to 'Ave Maria' with Yui and Moa making the ritual offering of the neck braces to the statue (modelled on Mary, but representing the Metal God) and the 'Night of 15 Headbanger Remix' opening number.
Remember this show was all about BABYMETAL transitioning from JPop Idol group to Metal band and Suzuka Nakamoto transitioning from JPop Idol to be reborn as the Metal Goddess Su-metal. This being the opening number they were in full Idol mode - the whole song was lip-synced, the "musicians" were the Babybones guys in their skeleton suits pretending to play the instruments but the entire song was track (apart from Su's "Hedobangyaaaa!" scream perhaps).
The dancers supporting them, also in skeleton suits, appeared in a few early shows, most often supporting Yui and Moa when they performed as Black BABYMETAL without Su, and were known as Sisterbones.
Don't forget there is another very special version of 'Headbanger' - Moabanger from Moa's 20th birthday at Legend M in 2019 (there are fancam videos of Yuibanger and Moabanger from 2014 as well from concerts in Paris and Cologne/Koln on or near their 15th birthdays, but the quality is fancam quality).

I'm more of the mind that the statue is of the Japanese Sun Goddess Amaterasu. She pre-dates the look of the Virgin Mary by close to 1000 yrs, Su is the Sun in the Metal Galaxy imagery, Koba keeps themes going, so looking at these things as a whole this is probably how it's used.

  • @draacco
    @draacco Рік тому +3

Yup, this is the start of the Legend of 1997 concert which as everyone has already said is just One concert celebrating Su-Metal's 16th birthday. What better way to celebrate your own birthday than with a RAVE! Crowd went absolutely apeSh!t. The guys in the skeleton suits are called Babybones which is a Mimic band representing the early days of Babymetal when they couldn't afford a live band. The beginning of the concert Babybones are mimicking the songs, up to a point where the live band takes over representing the maturing of Babymetal as a band. The Female dancers in the skelly suits are called SisterBones.
Again this concert is about the birth life and transformation of Su-Metal and also showing the growth and maturing of the band itself.
The Statue represents a strong spiritual woman figure in my eye's and to Japanese culture Mary is just that.
Prologue for SU-METAL's Birthday Celebration on 2012 Dec. 20th
    "Second Impact"
It was the winter just 15 years ago
when, in the idol scene, the teen group known as "the SPEED king of Okinawa"
had a dominant influence. On December 20th of that year,
SU-METAL was born to this world.
Concurrently, on December 31st 15 years ago, the legendary band called "invincible"
ended its history at the Tokyo Dome.
    The Fox God said,
"It is the birth of the new life that transcends the law of nature,
and as its cost an old life shall pass away."
Preparing for the upcoming "Metal Resistance",
SU-METAL has made many efforts in the "idol" scene.
She went to a local dance school since her childhood.
She sang "Daring!" while she was absolute cute.
She went to the growth-stage-limited school.
SU-METAL's undercover propagation in the "idol" scene
    was executed steadily.
Now "the special night of fifteen" starts to celebrate the fifteenth anniversary of SU-METAL's birth.
    ------------------------------------------------------
Also, with the prologue to Babymetal Death there is this line when the small Mary statue was inside the double helix (rosemary Beads):
"The gene which has been determined from ancient time
is destined to be guided, boarding on the ark of time."
Maybe this represents the blood line of spiritual women passed down through the centuries and is passed down to or reborn in Su_Metal To lead the Metal Resistance. When the mantle of Goddess is bestowed upon Su-Metal the statue breaks signifying her abandoning her human life and being reborn as the Metal Goddess or just paying homage to Metallica (And Justice for All). Just a Thought. I'm sure I"m probably way off and there is a deeper meaning to all this, but this is what it looks and feels like to me.

The show before this (at least lore-wise) was the 14th birthday celebration for Moa and Yui. They ended with the normal version of HB, then fell into a trance. The hooded figures came out with the candles and did similar stuff as the beginning of this video. Then the girls awake, walk up a set of stairs into the sky and stage fog, and disappear until they reappear at the beginning of this show.

*Short summary:* All 3 songs were part of the same concert. Headbanger Night of 15 Mix represents Su as a pop singer, lip-syncing and all. Then in Akatsuki Unfinished she sings with sadness that her life is about to end. Then during DEATH she abandons her human life by being sacrificed through crucifixion to be reborn as a Metal Goddess. A full story in one concert.
I think that is the gist of it. All of this to celebrate Su's 16th birthday the day before, wish I had been there. I love it when they all bounce in formation while headbanging, looks so cool.

I've also always thought it was really cool to add electric guitars to Ave Maria.
Babymetal can just take any existing song and change it genre, it's amazing. Love it. 🙂 They really know how to identify the tropes of a genre and how to integrate them.
Sadly because it's a remix it's fully lipsync.
The one who created it is: Yuyoyuppe aka DJ'TEKINA//SOMETHING. He has worked on a big chunk of Babymetal songs.

I was hoping we would see the music producer react at 11:24 😂
This is the opening of the show "Legend 1997 - Apocalypse" for which Babymetal Death was the closing.
Commonly called Ave Maria, the song is Schubert's Ellens dritter gesang (Ellen's 3rd song) from his Lady of the Lake, based on a German translation of Walter Scott's epic poem of the same title. The song is not the same as the Latin prayer though that was later adapted to the music. The lyrics are a prayer to Holy Mary beseeching rescue while Ellen is hiding in a desolate cave with her father, the deposed king.
To my eye the statue does indeed have Su-'s features, most apparent in the close ups. The statue is also representing the holy mother in a broader sense than Christianity. We can know this because in the concert Su- sings a cover of Tamashii no Rufuran (Soul's Refrain), the theme from Evangelion: Death & Rebirth (1997).
Did you catch the foreshadowing of Su-metal on the cross in the choreography at 16:34?
Many, many references in this show.

Annnnnnd breath! That was fun. Great to see people really enjoying the BABYMETAL journey so much.
BABYMETAL made a brief appearance with Skrillex at a live show, but it's a fairly ordinary version of Gimme Chocolate. It's on UA-cam if you want to see it. They have EDM elements in other tracks too, as you'll have noticed from Iine! For more dubstep, Uki Uki ★ Midnight (the counterpart to Doki Doki ☆ Morning) is the place to go, while Catch Me If You Can and Awadama Fever feature strong drum 'n' bass rhythms behind some big riffs. Most recently you have the full on dance-metal crossover DA DA DANCE. If you do go for Megitsune, make sure it's the MV first.
Seeing how much you liked this, I think you'd enjoy the madness of LADYBABY's Nippon Manju (ua-cam.com/video/M8-vje-bq9c/v-deo.html) and PassCode's Taking You Out (ua-cam.com/video/Wmt86RKEkuY/v-deo.html). I'll also point you toward alt-idol group MIGMA SHELTER, who mix J-Pop with psy-trance, who also include metal guitars in some tracks. To see a band mixing heavy rock and EDM, have a look at DOLL$BOXX and their parent group Gacharic Spin for some really energetic stuff. Away from Japan, there was a group called Pendulum that had a fair bit of success mixing rock and drum 'n' bass back in the day. I'll also throw in Bring Me the Horizon's Kingslayer, where BABYMETAL are featured vocalists.

Nice reaction. Now that was the start of the show. If you notice Yui and Moa go down at the end of the Ava Maria. Which means that whole remix performce is them in pop hell. The lights start off red there too. They take some jabs at pop performances here. Yui and Moa don't do any singing. Even though you clearly hear them. And when Su is lifted up as if she is put on a cross. (Foreshadowing what will happen at the end of the show). Su doesn't sing at all. Look at me. I'm so cool I don't have to sing. All in all having a great time. The stage band at this point is still Babtbones. Just faking like they're playing. And the extra dancers are Sisterbones. They will pop up again. However in a couple of songs after this we get the first appearance of the Kamiband. From that point on Babymetal drops the pop and goes to live in the metal world. Could you imagine another metal act starting a concert with a remix version of one of their own songs? Not me either. Establishing from their early days Babymetal is going to be different. And the fans were ready for it. Today Su has an incredible voice. Glad she along with Moa decided to stay metal. This performance is another reason I say Babymetal is everything you want in music and somethings you didn't know you needed.

Probably 8/10 times when you see the girls starting Moa will tend to be Stage Left and Yui Stage Right to start (this is not always the case but is considered their default start positions). Yui's puni puni cheeks and Moa's smile are facial clues until you learnt the subtler ways to tell them apart.

The skeleton costume "band" are just pretending to play. Back in the early days they couldn't afford to have a live band for their shows so they had these "Babybones" performers to mime along with the track. Halfway through this concert (IIRC) they brought in the live Kami band who actually play their instruments.

It's kind of hard to tell if you liked this track or not. 🤣🤣🤣 Not everybody reacts to this and I'm glad you gave it a go! The only reason I didn't include this on my "Top Twenty" list is because it doesn't appear on any of BABYMETAL's albums; to the best of my knowledge, it is unique only to this concert and just for the record, there are two other songs in this concert's playlist that aren't on any BABYMETAL album: "Tamashii No Rufuran" and "Kimi To Anime Ga Mitai". But, since this is the first song of the Legend 1997 Apocalypse concert, perhaps you should follow it up with the second song of the playlist, "Doki Doki Morning". I know you've already taken in the MV, now it's time to go live!

Legend 1997 is a single concert. The two pieces in this reaction are the very beginning, Babymetal Death the end.
The neck brace belongs to Headbanger. They do not normally use it for Babymetal Death.
Moa entered the stage from screen right, Yui from screen left. The shot at 6:30 shows Yui. Yui's mole is clearly visible at 9:12.
Yui and Moa had to change quickly beneath the stage.

I had a feeling you'd like that one. Funny thing is I typically can't stand dubstep/house/EDM and all that stuff. Personally I tend to find it annoying. But that is just my personal feelings on that genre. A lot of people love it and that's what counts. That being said however, I DO love this track as well. I also normally hate autotune as well, but in this song I don't mind it as much as normal. So I totally understand why you would love this song. I think you are starting to see why we are so passionate about these girls. They have managed to change a lot of people's lives for the better. I've read comments from people who stated that these girls saved their life as people were preparing to deleted themselves (not sure if I'm allowed to say the word in this day and age with everything going on), and then they found BM and BM totally helped them learn to smile and find happiness again. And when you are able to understand that these girls are like 16 and under in this concert and already commanding THIS much control over the crowd, and Su is ALREADY this talanted, you can understand why we are all flocking to this fanbase. By the way, I don't know if you are aware, but they have recently released 3 new songs. Divine Attack, Monochrome, and Metal Kingdom. It's pretty cool seeing the progression that both the band and the girls have gone through from 15, to now (25 years old in Su's case). Anyhow, great reaction, seeing your excitement was almost as fun as watching the girls perform lol I can't wait for you to do the trilogy of lights and all the other stuff. Would also be fun watching you react to each of the girls favorite songs. Su has a few. She really enjoys performing Meta Taro (one of my favorites, which tends to be overlooked in my opinion), Oh Majinai!, and I think she had said Pa Pa Ya. Yui and Moa also stated their favorites, but honestly I can't think of what they are at the moment. Maybe somebody else will remember and state it in the comments. Oh lastly, you were correct, the smiling dancer was Moa. Her smile always melts hearts. When you see Moa now at the age of 23 she is gorgeous and has probably caused a lot of heart breaks lol Pretty sure she has a fanbase just based on her smile. Pretty sure Yui would be the same as her smile is pretty deadly too, but Yui has remained a mystery since she left so nobody has really seen or heard anything about her since she left Babymetal which is a shame. But it is what it is. Hopefully we get to see Yui again soon though in some form or another!

The statue is the Virgin Mary. It could be Su as the Virgin Mary. Why can't Su play the Virgin Mary? This is the opening of Legend of 1997. Babymetal Death was the end.
You can tell it's the opening because the girls aren't sweaty yet.

Dude, the show starts with Ave Maria, which is a Christian prayer *to Mary* specifically. I agree it's supposed to symbolize Su-metal, but it's also clearly meant to evoke Christian imagery. Appropriation of Christian imagery is a metal tradition, which is reason enough for Koba to do it.

People have their own interpretation of the statue, but anyone who thinks it's Su are wrong. The statue looks nothing like Su, and it's not meant to.
Also, forget the "chubby cheeks" thing. They don't look that much alike that a person can't eventually differentiate between the two. Very, very early on, they did look very similar, and they were made up to look that way on purpose, but as they aged, within a year or two you could definitely tell them apart, easily. My suggestion is to just Google pictures of them, and familiarize yourself with their differences.
