It's so rare to see a director talking about criticism in public... Kudos to Ayaan... Bhramastra was saved by it's climax... Forced love story was hit and miss but I was never bored

I would say the major success for Brahmastra is justified as follows:
1. Bringing 1.5cr+ foot-falls in india post-pandemic for among bollywood films.
2. As an experimental film of this sort of new genre and concept public ACCEPTANCE was the most imp thing.
3. Bringing 400cr+ collections among massive Hate/Boycott campaign.
4. Specially kids have loved this movie alot which was unexpected.
5. This is the first Indian movie for which people are making a whole lot of different theories and assumptions for part 2 and also pointing out Easter eggs which I have never seen before.
Note: People asking for verdict, firstly 400cr budget is not official and director has clarified that alot of assets made in part 1 will be utilised through out astra verse. Such as Technological equipments, VFX template, Set designs, and alot more (specially the experience matters).

The movie is a little weak on the surface front, but is really awesome on a deeper level with a lot of attention to detail given. It surely has really high rewatchability value

has Negative and positive effects, I just wished they could have expand more on these philosophical things and Astras rather than love angle which had absolutely zero impact on audience in gud way, we couldn't connect with Characters
due to fast screenplay and despite attempting something new, in deep down, it felt like watching same Bollywood cliche stories which takes away the rewatchability of this movie imo.

Tbh people wanted it to be end game but it came out to be iron man 1 but maybe part 3 becomes end game after all learning is important and we should support it so that he could learn and grow indian cinema like wouldn't you he proud if in future india ulls off something like or greater than marvel and for that they need support rajamouli and Prashant sir couldn't bring indian cinema to great height alone bollywood has given gem films with original story and everyone deserves a second chance atleast show support to the directors and also my one request to indian actors are f listen to your pr team for God's sake

I feel sometime criticism is bizarre for such kind of movies be it Brahmastra or No Smoking. Your can only make masterpiece when you start making these kind of movies. Brahmastra or No Smoking isn't that bad that critics wrote about. I think sometimes critics are already prepared to bash such kind of movies as they believe it will make them top critics.
Dear Ayan Mukerji, first of all I must commend you for your technical achievements with this film. The VFX and visuals are top-notch, you have really raised the standards for technology in Bollywood👏👏 But besides that, the rest of the movie is quite disappointing in terms of writing, dialogues, and storyline. Please move away from cliché coming of age love stories and cringy old school Bollywood tropes. The audience has evolved and you should understand this and meet their expectations. Focus on the world-building and character development and make the movie about the ASTRAS. We are tired of watching the same old boring cliché Bollywood romance where guy and girl meet once and immediately fall in love and become obsessed with each other. Where is the build up, the tension, the conflict? Write better dialogues and stop making grown adults talk like children. Give talented actors like Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt more to work with than just one-dimensional characters. Stop using the excuse that this is just part 1. Part 1 of a franchise series should introduce the characters properly and make the audience emotionally invested in them but this movie failed to do that. The first movie was really underwhelming, the only reason people are watching in theatres is because of the novelty of the VFX and visual spectacle. But you must understand this novelty will wear off soon. Please focus on not just the technology but also the WRITING. You are very lucky that people are still giving you a second chance to make a sequel so please take in all the criticism and feedback to make major improvements to part 2🙏🙏

We were inspired by "Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani" - an entertaining story about rich young people living believable lives in Mumbai and exotic locations. Both movies were blockbusters. This was what we expected from you - then why a story about supernatural powers? How are we to identify with this or be entertained by this?

Hey Ayan, "Make what you know". Please make films about things you have lived through and know first-hand as you did in your first two films. Your first language is English, so Hindu mythology etc. does not come naturally to you. Please use your many talents in making films on issues that are real to you (and then so to us).
I loved Shahrukh’s cameo, Ranbir’s performance, vfx and the climax. Expected an in-depth analysis of our timeless scriptures. A decade of research did not certainly reflect on screen. Alia’s role was unnecessary. Hope to see her character arc in the sequels. The dialogues were a huge let down and the beautiful songs just did not fit in. BUT, let’s appreciate the team’s hard work and keep supporting! It’s Bhramastra. It’s Indian History. Wish them the absolute best!

I am a big movie lover. Started watch movies in the 90s with Baaghi, Dilwale (Ajay Devgn one), Satya... I can say this with conviction that Brahmastra is the worst movie I have ever watched. Maybe I have missed worse movies. Or maybe it was the expectations. Maybe it was the disappointment in seeing Ranbir accepting such a bad story. I remember everyone coming out of the theater with a long bored face not even looking at each other. You have to redeem to an unexpected level for part two Ayan. I will definitely not watch it.

The film has top notch VFX but very weak plot filled with plenty of mistakes and poor content.
Here are points which make the film a missed one -
Vague and obscure scenes - At the beginning after the marvelous cameo of SRK and the scenes between Mauni roy and him. The garbage begins. Ohh God, that 10 mnts long scene of Ranbir, alia their friends from DJ party to anaath ashram. Alia in black mini skirt, his cousin/friend ?? Whats going on??What was happening?? Alia and her friends' dialogues, they are trying to speak in modern hinglish, jumping from lift, walls, roofs. Cringy unnecessary dialogues. The entire lift scene could have been avoided. What a waste of time. Can be ranked the worst scene of the era. At some point Shiva is shown to hate the fire as he remembers
that her mother died in a fire accident (when he was 1 year old baby), he remembers that scene..but then why doesn't he remember his mother's face?????
Over dose of VFX - VFX are brilliant, but overtly imposed in each frame. Even an entire song is picturised on Ranbir playing with fireball like football, even kids will get bored after sometime. The effects we have already seen in ad films and TV serials.
Red fire every where. The climax scene is good but very vague, whats is collapsing and where they are walking?? Most of the time the VFX looked like a laser show or a fireworks show....fire fire every where no fire anywhere....
Super power - The characters sometimes are able to use super power, to jump and fly but sometimes not, ike Zor and Raftaar who is killed.
Inconsistency of the language - Brahmastra makers including Ayan Mukerjee and all kept saying from the beginning when the movei was announced, that it's based on Indian mythology. Yea the name Brahmastra a sanskrit word definitely suggests that. I am not indulging in any hindu/muslim or hindi/urdu matter. But when you say it's mythology or periodic movie then
at least needs to have a linguistic who helps to write you the dialogues in the language that was in that era. Not only the characters(the astraverse characters, not the modern ones) are using urdu words in dialogues?? Its funny they are using the urduword like maqsad, roshni and then pure hindi word like praapt in the same line?? Ohh my my...and the biggest mistake is the main villain character's name is Junoon...an Urdu name in Indian mythology?? Her companions' names are zor and Raftaar
are you kidding?? AB's character says the word dragon?? Chinese myth in in Indian myth? The names of Amrita and Dev on the boat are written in english...which period or which mythology you are connecting to? The young generation mostly do not know about the Indian mythoogy, they do not know the difference between the languages.. you are confusing them and teaching wrong....they may not mind it...but not every vieweris like that....even most of the critics did not check it out, only a few youtube critics mentioned that..
Come on lets say it's a fantasy movie and let it go beyond the language barrios , but not they had to play with the Indian religious chord.
The dialogues - I guess it was the same Hussain Dalal who wrote Kalank's cringy dialogues those were criticized...then why you needed to repeat him??
Why every character is taking Shiva's name from the beginning in each frame, including Shiva's mates to ashram mates. The typical one liners which were not expected from those ashram guys who were more expected to be seriously indulged in their learning goals and astra vidyas and not into mobile phones and gossips.
Love story track - Those long boring love scenes were a big let down which came after every scene. Isha has already said to Shiva - Isha ka matlab Paarvati hota hai, aur Shiva ke sath Paarvati nahi hogi to kaun hoga....it means not only love but husband wife kind of connection is shown...but ridiculously after half an hour while the entry to aashram scene Isha says/accepts/ proposes her love to Shiva saying - mujhe bhi pyar hai...so funny she has already said in hindi...even then Shiva says to keh do, then Isha says - I love you Shiva...why ??? Doesn't he understands hindi ?? Placing love and power of love more than the Brahmastra did not go well.

I watched this movie and had to walk out it 4-5 times to keep my sanity. It was a tiring headache movie as long as it lasted. The graphics of this movie, we have seen in many ps4 video games like Infamous2.

Trying so hard to tag an average product as "masterpiece" has become a predominant Bollywood culture, especially with production houses like Dharma who can swing narratives as they wish because of their hold on the media and award shows. Same with average actors being labelled "mega-stars". Do they know that public sees through these stuffs? Actually some morons still pay for such movies, unfortunately. Hope people realize that unless they raise the bar on what they expect from movies and casting, they are only gonna be fed trash.
In fact movie-making and entertainment is a very public domain and it needs to become more accessible for wider public to have opportunities in this field. I don't know why people support these larger producers like Karan Johar, Aditya Chopra, etc who are dominating for years and years and not allowing originality to grow.
And no, Brahmastra was not original. It was a very Hollywood inspired attempt and they tried to bring in religion to draw in the public. VFX was done by Hollywood technicians which seem to be the only good thing about the whole movie though even this received a good amount of criticism.
Hollywood technicians? The vfx of almost all avengers movie was 50% made in india, if using vfx = hollywood inspired then you are wrong. And what is wrong in being inspired? Even hollywood movies inspire each other so the whole hollywood is also not original as well.
One advice remove Alia Bhatt.. otherwise 2nd part will also be a mediocre

Absolute disaster...Ayan isnt absolutely qualified to direct such a important and massive subject, this could have been a epic masterpeice if it was directed by rajamouli, cant think of anyone else..such a important subject wasted.
I am impressed by Ayan Mukherjee take on criticism. But honestly BRAHMASTRA was Ayan's weak work. It was honestly pretty mediocre, VFX was great but it's never the core of a film. The actual progression of Brahmastra in the story is so pithy while apathetic love story is so streched. Screenplay was also very bad. The film didn't left any anticipation, the post credit scene is pure joke. Honestly I waited so long for Brahmastra but I have no interest for PART 2. Anyways All the best, if it's good it's gonna be super hit!

But even bramhstra was paisa-vasool because it gave us unique experience especially in IMAX 3D & dialogues were cringy and storyline was not intellectual enough to feel fulfilled.. But never let us bored..

If this film had Hrithik in the lead role and without the Karan Johar cheesy boy sheruk khan this film would have been a magnificent blockbuster.
But, it’s a major flop. Cut out the cheesy part, cut out sheruk khan and cut producer Karan Johar and put Hrithik in , it would have been a magnum opus.
Don’t like Karan Johar producing this film.
