    ECM = Electronic Counter Measures.

    • @Justacheese
      @Justacheese  Рік тому +2

      Well this makes sense why I never guessed it was something like this. Electronic counter measures would realistically jam someone's radar or something like that. But in starsector its like your countermeasures are having a war with the one your opponent uses.
      What maters in the end is whoever has the bigger number in the end. That's the one that receives the downsides.
      So yeah. No wonder I was confused about the name.

      Oh boy. Did you get a commission with someone and then declared war on a faction you were in the middle of trading with?

      @@Justacheese While that may of happened, the real tear jerker was when I spent a long time planning to invade Gilead, brought thousands of marines, lots of heavy armaments and very little supplies... learned mid invasion that I needed supplies. I then took over Gilead but it went to the Persean league instead of me, and I didn't know I could purchase it from them since I was commissioned with them. Long story short I had the dream of owning Gilead as it was the most habitable system in the core. Instead of it becoming mine it became the Perseans. I was sad.

    Hey, sorry If I missed it in the video, but I colonized a planet and created my own faction, and I can still get commissioned by one of the factions. Is this intended? Will I lose control of my planets or something stupid?

    • @Justacheese
      @Justacheese  Рік тому

      No you won't loose anything. There is actually a mechanic where you can refuse to hand control over to your faction if you take over a place.
      Be it space station or planet. At first I thought that your faction would exile you and declare war on you, but it turns out they just give you a slap on the wrist with a -10 or -15 relations penalty.
      So going by that logic, if your faction is ok with you going "NO THIS IS MY PLANET!" , then they won't mind at all if you own a planet already.
      You colonized or stole that place off someone else fair and square. Its yours to keep now.

      thanks for the fast reply! I'm doing it for the military ships I get access to while I'm commissioned@@Justacheese

    I feel compelled to mention that military commissions are not the same as commissioning stuff. They are real, or at least were, contracts where a gentleman was appointed to a military position. Sometimes you would even have to purchase the commission. The commissions in game are more similar to a letter of marque, which allows a private citizen to attack shipping on behalf of the King.

      I just spent about 3 minutes thinking about this. You're right. However, I don't think I'm going to edit that part of the vid out even though I got the info wrong, because I still explain how commissions work in game pretty well.
      Also it would ruin the joke where I came up with that super shitty trash can OC :P

      @@Justacheese its the colony commodities ; basically, if you have colonies producing X commodities, you can accept these procurement contracts

    • @Justacheese
      @Justacheese  2 роки тому +1

      @@qwe-80085 Oh those! I'm pretty sure that you accept them and make sure your colony is producing the stuff that's asked for.
      Then the goods (Whatever they might be) will be deducted from your supply automatically. At least that's what I understood from the starsector subreddit. I've never completed one of these contracts personally, because they keep asking for really obscure things.
      Like drugs or harvested organs.
      And by the time I have colonies making stuff, I'm usually well set up. I don't really have a need for the extra money at that point.

    I just got this game 2 days ago and really enjoy my trading play through. One thing that I'm still confusing is "combat system" every time I encounter the hostile NCP I always lose the fight, I know this sounds like a noob (and yes I am lol) but if someone have a tip for "unfortunate combat trader" like me, please give me some advice would be appreciate thank you you guys so much in advance.

      Sure I can give you some tips. First off there is a checkbox you can enable in the options menu that makes your ship follow your mouse cursor. Its generally viewed as an easier way to play the game for beginners. Turn it on and then turn it off while you are in a simulation.
      I go over how simulations work and how the mouse cursor thing works in my beginners guide ua-cam.com/video/PoR-Ai3R86Q/v-deo.html
      Its got timestamps so you can find what you need.
      Next tip I'm going to talk about is omidirectional shields. Its a complicated sounding word, but it pretty much means that your ship's shields will face the direction that you point your mouse.
      You can find out if your ship has these type of shields by refitting the ship. Pay attention to the left side of the screen while refitting and the game should tell you if you have this shield type or not.
      Now try using this shield type along with static (regular) shields and see which one you like using more.
      The last tip I'm going to give you is about ship special abilities. Almost every ship in the game has a special ability. To find out what it is, go into your fleet menu and hover over the question mark when viewing a ship. Now press F1. This will bring up a detailed description of the ship and its special ability. If you don't understand what the ability does, run a simulation press F and see what happens.
