Kennedy may be a bit of an eccentric ham before and after a performance, but when he plays he is totally wrapped up in the music and devoted to bringing out its beauty.
Divine Bach, incredibly sensitive Violinist Nigel Kennedy and superb Orchestra. Human beings like them give the world hope for a beautiful, peaceful and enlightened World for future generations to come
Nigel kennedy is a world class violinist with an equally characteristic personality to accompany his playing! Two set certainly is very beneficial for exposing a very large audience to classical music
What a great musician and phantastic interpretation. Phantastic! Thanks Nigel! Normally super high tempi at Bach is not always the best idea... But Kennedy masters to make something very authentic from it. Played extremely virtuously but very clean and honest at the same time. Great listening to this non-orthodox interpretation.
This remains to be my favourite. The tempo and dynamics here make this piece so exciting, as if it was always meant to be played like this. So much that other versions become almost boring.
If one heard this for the very first time...and never saw the score..or listened to some hair-faced musicologist rant about how it is "supposed" to be played....one would think this is music from heaven. And it is, what it is. Take it for that. Bravo N. Kennedy.
The first time I heard 1041 was this exact performance. It could be because it is my first, but no other version I have heard comes close to the natural flow this has. I love it!
Slow movement is exquisitely sweet, the energy of the first and third different, but delightful. Not what Bach would have done probably, but so what? Isn't it wonderful, all the greats you can hear on You Tube playing the great composers? Let's celebrate the creativity and mastery of each. Unless you are Midori or Josh Bell or the like, don't be a critic, just enjoy!
no one else can play this song as good as him. this song has to be played with strong passion and emotion, with faster speed. in other words, pop style. all other players play this song too slow like dead cat being dragged on motorway.
+Gary Hayes I agree about the third movement, but the first was played at a really good tempo. He made a compromise between energy and phrasing, technically being in control of his playing, but still making the whole movement flowing. I do feel the melody and still hear clearly the cadences while respecting the soul of an allegro. The first movement wasn't made to be lyric at first and this aspect is even clearer when you look at the score : it's pretty much the same rythmic movement all along, with the same type of ornaments written. You can make it sound lyric, but it's a misconception to say that every note is important (at least in this precise context).
What a flavour in the 3rd movement. Imagine if this is what the kids had heard when it was first played. Minds would have been blown, heads would have been banging and the Beatles might have been born a century earlier. And then it would have been banned for inciting coffee drinking.
Absolutely spectacular. Sure, the third movement is "too fast," or at least very, very fast. But who's to say whether Bach, possibly the most inventive musician who ever lived, would have disapproved of an unorthodox, rocking version of his music three hundred years after it was written? Nothing Bach did was by the rule book... he *wrote* the rule book, and Nigel Kennedy can write a different rule book.
I just happened to buy his CD, The Kennedy Experience, many years ago and it just blew me away. He pushes the violin to its absolute limits, pure joy listening to him.
If it wasn't for Nigel Kennedy and his cd of The Four Seasons, i probably wouldn't be interested in classical music. Now it's pretty much all I listen to. Besides Peter Green and Fleetwood Mac
Hi Mary; hope you are well!. Your comment is excellent!. Not only is this a magnificent interpretation but this as other Bach concertos were used in the 70’s (and I am sure before then as well) in the field ofMusic Therapy. There is a principle that has worked for many years in order for a person to reduce anxiety symptoms and that is to first listen to first and third movements of some concertos and slowly get to the second movement. It works as a cathartic tool. Bach through perfection and beauty has been priceless!!….and Nigel’s work a dream. Imagine having had you tube then…- Take care.
Anyone else listen to this on a legit sound system with subwoofer? His stomping in movement 3 (Allegro assai) sounds like a random bass drum tapping out the beat along with the orchestra.
nothing to add to diana walkers comments....this performance adds soul to this piece which often sounds mechanical in even competent hands. kennedy is beyond competent. love it!
It always makes me a bit sad to read comments like this one a page where the music is so beautiful, and all you have to do is not listen if you don't enjoy it. There are many other versions.
I'm just starting the 3rd movement and oh my god, this is sooo awesome! I won't be. It'll take me 4 years, when I'm 16, to just be able to play the 3rd mvt. half as awesome!!!!!!
Franz Brosch ..but bach isn't playing it!!...kennedy is!... & it's 2015!!.....thank "whatever" for fiddlers who give their own interpretations!....i might just add tho, that for me, the third movement is miles too fast....it worked in his 4 seasons, but doesn't quite cut it here..
Franz Brosch ..+Franz Brosch ...for sure...his 4 seasons is the best!!...but where i prefer many other fiddlers is in the 2nd movement of winter...one of my favourite movements of any music ever written for violin...try & listen to Isakadze & maria samuelson playing it.!!.as well as many others that i have recordings of...have a good day & a good listen to the kennedy mam!!
I have to agree the 3rd movement was a little too fast only because it has like a bouncy quality when the bass and cello can't quite keep up that doesn't seem quite right but with a few fun surprises thrown in it seems their intent was to undo some of the supposed seriousness of the piece.
This isn't meant as a personal affront Gerardo but why can't people spell lose and loser anymore? Loose and lose are different words. I see this all the time on youtube and blog comments. There's loose and there's lose. Not the same!! Looser means less tight and loser means one who has lost.
Nigel after coming out of the abusive relationship that being my son, michael's, father I don't have anything to do with Rowan Williams for good reason, but this shouldn't alter my love for music as I'm church of wales anyway and Justin Welby has taken over from Rowan Williams. I will say that the Masonic have my heart and always will, that is my choice, I attained a Master Mark Certificate with the Order of Women Freemasons being invited in my the Past Provincial Grandmaster of Monmouthshire who I think alot of and he is doing services in St Mary's Church in Abergavenny where I live. I know how important it is for me to be open and honest as best I can with my involvement in the Masonic and with the man himself the Grand Architect of the Universe, well his Father, that's how I see it. I don't know if your married or not, I think I saw a ring on your finger but I don't think I will live with anyone, I have given my love to TGAOTU himself, but I need to think about my future and my son's future, and if it's better I'm with someone. Very very hard decision to make, I want Michael to be happy and myself. I suppose if i was to live with someone ideally they would be a freemason, or join.
You are not the only listener who equates Bach's music to proof that God exists. But, I think that you have it 100 % wrong. Bach wrote the music using his faith as motivation.
#THEBEST I saw him in Chicago and the crowd went wild. It was like being at a sports event at times. He's incredible across the board. xoxo #nigelkennedy
I LOVE Nigels’s fresh approach, attitude and interpretation to classical music. Truly inspiring
Violinist Kennedy and the orchestra are divine. They lift my spirit. Thank you!
What a phenomenal performer and human being ,,,,unique
I love this guy...not this formal fuss...he is who he is. It's Nigel Kennedy. He is great.
Kennedy may be a bit of an eccentric ham before and after a performance, but when he plays he is totally wrapped up in the music and devoted to bringing out its beauty.
This is by far the best interpretation I have ever heard.
Wow! A real rocker. Bach loves him.
Now, that s what we call Bach

Wonderful!
Aww, he's so lovely. :D I love how he conducts very empathetic to the other players.
Magnificent, and very much appreciated. Many thanks for sharing.
I discovered Nigel Kennedy in England over 25 years ago and still no one but on one plays the violin with such passion as he!
My favorit
So my classical music education continues to broaden through TwoSet Violin. This was such wondrous listening pleasure...
Nigel kennedy is a world class violinist with an equally characteristic personality to accompany his playing! Two set certainly is very beneficial for exposing a very large audience to classical music
@@violaisreallycool And getting bigger all the time - currently 3.6M. Brett's playing Mendelssohn at 4M.
What a great musician and phantastic interpretation.
Phantastic! Thanks Nigel!

Yes
Kennedy, as ever, is completely his own man -- and what a great orchestra!
...completely...
In fact, conducting while playing is something that some violinist do, as Joshua Bell and Kyung-Wha Chung.
@fotopic001 and the orchestra is incredible!

I think I would prefer his interpretation to Bach's own one.
Diana walker neve What if it’s the composer?
This is how Classical Music should be presented and approached. Cool but all there!
Paul Tergeist it's baroque
love this beautiful rendition......do you??
YOU ARE THE BEST !!
totalmente hermoso, gracias
no one else can play this song as good as him. this song has to be played with strong passion and emotion, with faster speed. in other words, pop style. all other players play this song too slow like dead cat being dragged on motorway.
The 2nd slow movement is sublime but he takes both fast movements way too quickly and they loose all lyricism, especially the last one. My opinion.
+Gary Hayes I agree about the third movement, but the first was played at a really good tempo. Just the right tempo for The Allegro.
Saw him play just a few nights ago in Basingstoke, what a showman. Absolutely brilliant.
I just happened to buy his CD, The Kennedy Experience, many years ago and it just blew me away. He pushes the violin to its absolute limits, pure joy listening to him.
even the first two measures makes chicken skin. Bach is grest and with Kennedy and that Orchestra his music is in best hands. thanx for posting.
If it wasn't for Nigel Kennedy and his cd of The Four Seasons, i probably wouldn't be interested in classical music. Now it's pretty much all I listen to. Besides Peter Green and Fleetwood Mac
Gracias!
Love it. There are things between heaven and Earth.
Fabulous!! So uplifting and inspiring. Just beautiful. I wish this could be played in every hospital room in the world.
Dude relax
Super j adore bach

I am so exited that I could such a beautiful melody at this special Easter season in Cornna.
I grew up on a Menuhin recording of A minor. Now he does it on that same violin. Strange.
Bravo Nigel

Another mad genius great talent
Its a joy to see Nigel on stage
Always laughing 🤣 and joyful too see him play on his violin 🎻
Divine.
The sound of a violin played without conceit .
A most beautiful performance by all.
So brilliant the way that God expresses perfection in simple notes :) Spontaneous Enlightenment
So beautiful.I am playing this repitoire
Very good! Thanks Master Kennedy...;-) Your are a great musicien...Bach must be glad to listen his music plays by you...:-)

GREAT ! I REALLY LIKE IT !
Love those fast tempos!
What was the venue for this amazing event?
Noone can play this song better than Nigel. All others play too slow like ox cart pulling a dead cat. This song needs to be fast to make sense.
Kennedy is a horrible classical violinist. he s good for comercial stuff selling his personality
Blks

Unless you can play to Nigel’s standard DONT moan about how he chooses to play . He LOVES the music and puts his great and soul into every piece.👍
BACH is for me a sign of God and i love this guy named Nigel Kennedy. Gratefully.
You are not the only listener who equates Bach's music to proof that God exists. But, I think that you have it 100 % wrong. Bach wrote the music using his faith as motivation.
To Bach, God exists. To a humanist, the music is what it is.
Many thanks to Nigel, the orchestra and poster. A fun interpretation of Bach’s gift from God. The last movement was bizarrely fast, nice try…..
3nd so fast, how is it possible? Dear lord!
It's not. Lord knows I've tried.
It’s Nigel Kennedy! Anything is possible and owned.
I love him. And I love Bach.
Thanks You Tube; outstanding video. Excellent rendition, wonderful communication between great Nigel and Orchestra!. A treasure!!
Just " genious "...Great tribute to Bach...Love it !
2. stavek zelo lepo. 3. stavek prehitro.
not only is he a great musician but he is also supa-funny
marvelous, fantastic violinist!!!tks for posting!
brilliant
#THEBEST I saw him in Chicago and the crowd went wild. It was like being at a sports event at times. He's incredible across the board. xoxo #nigelkennedy
This is what an excellent interpretation is about: great approach, beautiful sound and superb communication!!
Thank you!
so coolness people!... :P
Top man, Nigel.
👋👋💕
where's the original gone? it's just disappeared!
From 7:00 to 7:15/20, absolute perfection, most moving notes played ever
Amazing great
amazing performance :D the 2nd movement was sublime; 3rd movement was too quick :P
