    If I could only afford one or two of them right now, I'd snap them up. My mother has Alzheimer's and loves your videos. She got me into reptiles when I was little (over 40 years ago). Last year, she was in the hospital for a month (we thought she was going to die) and had hallucinations and zero memory retention. The only things she remembered after were the videos of your lizards, Kamp Kenan's theft saga (I always updated her on it, but I won't tell her about Bobby dying), and NERD's Dozer and Snarfles. She always wanted a big lizard that could walk around the house and we didn't know these types of iguanas existed back then. If we did, she would've made my father build huge indoor and outdoor cages. They would've been perfect for what she dreamed of.

      Alzemiers is a rough problem, I hope she is better today. My mom had Alzermiers and I took care of her for a few years. My mom didnt like reptiles at all!! My mom did let me collect them at a young age, but my snakes scared her a few times:) When she started teaching toddlers she had me bring one of my 12 ft Burmese pythons to introduce to the little kids. The children loved the giant snake, so thats when I started taking reptiles to schools and that was so popular I had to turn schools down. Maybe they liked the idea I didnt charge money for my shows:) the children loved the shows. That was back in 1980 . Wish I could do that now, but laws are a lot different and the city I live in wouldnt allow it, but now i would charge a little money, but not the 700 an hour most people charge. Thanks for watching

    When I get my new rock iguana do I let it settle for a week before handling or start immediately?

    • @DaveDurham
      @DaveDurham  3 місяці тому

      A week would be good if you want, but you didnt say what age your "new" iguana is. I start handling as soon as possible, but I start out hand feeding the babies in their cage. Larger juvenile's and adults I start handling from day one or as soon as possible. The larger ones can bite very hard but I have been handling animals for over 50 years. I do have a lot of training videos on this channel, and you can always text Dave Durham Lizards at 559-259-6567 for a more one on one conversation. Text only. I dont answer phone calls. Thanks for watching

      I have a 6 month old

    • @DaveDurham
      @DaveDurham  3 місяці тому

      Ok, so a little one. I think you can go to my channel and see me work with lots of 6 month old iguanas. I keep most of my babies for 6 months to 9 months and I make a lot of videos showing their progress and how I tame them down. I have a video also of showing how I dont use hides for them and I trained one Rocky, to climb on his platform by 4 months old, using my advanced voice training method. So by 6 months old I am handling my iguanas, and thats what I would suggest you do, but you should watch some of my videos first. hope this helps.

      Here's one video ua-cam.com/video/HhysoXqtNRk/v-deo.html taming or handling 6 month olds.

      Here's me training Rocky voice commands. I think this was only the second time I called him to get on his platform. Rocky soon learned to get on his platform any time I called him. ua-cam.com/video/CwwmQ8zgVzQ/v-deo.html I have a few videos of Rocky.

    • @DaveDurham
      @DaveDurham  Рік тому +1

      No. I lost Bigboy a few years ago., I made a video called "Greatest Dragons Ever Trained" ua-cam.com/video/O3klel67YJo/v-deo.html to give a tribute to some of the best trained lizards I have and ever had, if you care to watch. Thanks for watching this one.

      @DaveDurham  Рік тому

      @@TheCenozoicEra Yeah, its been a few years but I still can watch him on this channel. Bigboy was a lot of help to me in the training of lizards and finding the smartest reptile species in the world. I have been working with the Cayman Brac for some time now and always remember when I first realized Bigboy understood me when I would say his name. Now with my advanced voice training methods I have trained lizards to do stunts never thought possible, hope you get a chance to watch them videos. Thanks for watching
