We have long resisted getting an Echo. We couldn't run new wiring (which would have been expensive if we could), so we got our first Echo which completely solved our problem for about $40 (Echo Dot and smart plug). We just ask Alexa to turn on/off that light. Heartily recommend it to solve this kind of conundrum!
I'm not a mathematician or anything but I'm pretty sure 27lbs + 29 lbs does not add up to 100 lbs! LOL. Just saying lol. Kindle fires are only for reading books where as the IPads you can do a lot of stuff on like a cell phone. My IPad and my IPhone are exactly the same thing.
The Kindle paperwhite is supposed to be similar in size to a standard paperback book, plus the 'color' is supposed to look similar to a paperback page. Like Becky, I'd rather have the book, lol. Ok, explain this to me-- Amazon bricks a device so it can't be used, then sells it?!? I'm I the only one who thinks that's wrong?

My house looks like a small library... have 3 book cases in my living room...7 ft.... 8 ft.... 4 ft.... and entertainment full of books ... 4 boxes in bedroom....have given away a few hundred... going to start thinning out some more.... at 81, not sure how many more years I have left... but doubt my kids will want to deal with the hundreds I stillhave, when I'm gone... lol Enjoyed the box. I had an echo that had an issue with delivery so they gave me a full refund but said I could keep the item so I gave it to my mom amd the first time I set it up no problems but then my mom moved and we couldn't get it to set up kept telling me the wrong password but it wasn't I finnaly got a hold of support and because I had a refund on it they had bricked out the serial number so when she tried to set it up at the new place it didn't work but I was able to get it unblocked and set up I know it would be more work but would ypu be able to get them unblocked by amazon since you got them in a return box
I love reading and I didn’t think that I’d like reading from an ereader, but I got a Kindle PaperWhite and I love it!! I can read faster on it also. The difference between an iPad and a kindle PaperWhite, the iPad is like a phone screen and with the PaperWhite, it really seems like I’m reading from a page right out of a book.

I love reading so much. I do prefer a real book but the kindle app on my phone is so convenient. I actually keep my background on kindle the pale green. It doesn't hurt my eyes as much as the white pages. I've also used the beige or tan color for the background.
I do everything on my Kindle Fire. I play games, read books, facebook, you tube and email. My only complaint is you can't read it in the sun and I always read at the beach. Other wise I'm a happy camper.
I set my iPad up for reading, and it's perfect, kKindles are way too small. You can adjust the screen beyond its lowest brightness level, Apple has directions.

I was just thinking yesterday how much easier it is to read on my phone than to hold open a big ol hardcover. But still, if I love a book I do buy the "real" book,lol Colleen Hoover's Verity was my only 5 star read this year!

I like the paperwhite, to keep it from glaring I inverted the colors and made the screen black with white print. Doesn’t give me the eye strain and without the migraines.

Amazon has done away with the Halo items, basically they're paper weights, as of this month they can't even be used as watches.

You can change the size of the font if you need or want to. I have one and love it.
You should be able to increase the font size on the readers if you want
