I've never shot so accurately and with such little recoil perception as to when I employed the ogre's advice. Pure gold. Thank you for your service and the great training information you provided.
Definitely going to get his monthly subscriptions to watch the fundamentals. Never seen anyone explain it so well and so easily and logically understandable.
Solid advice! Reminds me of the "GET BEHIND THE GUN" line that was mantra when I wore green. Shooting a 7.62 service rifle teaches you that. You can get away with more when shooting 5.56, but keeping your shooting principles the same when shooting 5.56 as 7.62 will make your shooting aspects better. Range scores went up going from 7.62 to 5.56 but now shooters only knowing 5.56 don't have the "punishing results" of bad body position when shooting from the prone. The cocked leg is forgotten some many times, especially if you are advancing to contact, you need to get that lung expansion while lying.
Great vid John I’ve tried the loose grip a lot of guys use nowadays doesn’t work for me groups open up big time I say what you say firm into the shoulder pull gun into shoulder tight grip error on the hard side of both groups went back to 3/8 instead of 3/4 or 1” magnum rifles will exploit any weakness in the system for Christ sake you’ve got got a explosive device in your weapon it explodes and goes boom you have to control it ,that’s my take right or wrong , thanks again John for a great Vid and sound advice
In the prone usually making those longer shots at 300m and taking a shot about every six eight seconds my eyes just are about totally exhausted at about 20 minutes. So how do you rest your eyes while maintaining that steady fire.
Went to ewa marine range while in Hawaii. They teach at about a 90° angle with buttstock inside vest. Damn near broke my friggin jaw. They claimed you couldnt hit 500 unless done this way. I made a $40 bet being the cocky Army guy. I did it my way hit 500 qual'd expert and I'll be damned in that marine SSG got butthurt and wouldnt pay.. I told him dont shake on a bet if you cant keep your word..
A sergeant major you ever have any problems with the injectors on that Duramax it's a common problem like four or five thousand it goes out every 5 years

This is exactly how I was taught to shoot in prone.
