The more an more I watch these the more excited I get hope everyone watchin this gets a monster this fall 🦌
Love the drone view of it all, puts it all into perspective great content as always
Thanks a lot Adam we are trying to use it more and more
I love the mock scrape videos! I've applied these techniques with great success and I never would have thought about it without your videos! Thank you as always!
That'd awesome Jeff and you are very welcome! Thank YOU 😊
Just got in from checking cameras on 3 mock scrapes and am excited for who shows up and that the season is getting close here in TN, thanks for all the help Jeff!
I watch your videos and have truly learned so much about hunting and whitetails. Cannot thank you enough sir I expect a great season thanks to your being a great person and wanting to help people
Best most concise vid on mock scrapes that I've ever seen!
Great job Jeff!!
Set up a few vine licking branches lately. I have only checked the camera on one and the deer are using it and can't resist it. I put up one which I didn't have a camera for, but it is on a convergence of trails. I set up a homemade hang on stand last night within 20 yards of the vine, and there were fresh tracks right underneath it, and it had rained very recently. Thanks so much for your help I enjoy your content!
Love seeing how the master sets up his own property. Thank you for sharing your insight!
Jeff, I watched your video on creating a mock scrape. On the private land that I hunt, I found a vine about the size of my thumb. I hung it from a limb with the bottom tip at waist height. Within six hours there was a nice young 6 point at it. The next day a better 8 point visited it. I'm really excited about deer season this fall. Thanks for all your tips, tricks and techniques. I wish I could show you the game camera pictures I got.
So happy for you Craig and a lot of fun too!! That's awesome...
I out up mock scrapes this year and it's already working bucks does young fawns with spots. All thanks to Jeff. Can't wait for end of September thanks Jeff
So awesome Denny! 😊
Great video Jeff! Thanks for going into a little more detail about why you’re placing the mock scrapes where you are and the aerial footage is a big help! That red cedar scrape is exactly what one of my main hunting plots need to draw them in close enough for a bow shot!
That buck around 4:50 looks HEAVY.
Great videos Jeff really awesome content. Much appreciated.
I’m excited that I started mocks scrap after watching all your videos Jeff I’m hooked another great and detail video. Love the aerial shots thank again Jeff you have the best videos out there hands down
Thanks a lot Ralph and man, I am excited for you!!
It seems like a summary of everything you've done perfect Jeff I appreciate your knowledge has always great work on your end Dylan
Loved how clear and to the point this video was. Very helpful.
Awesome...thanks a lot Jason!!
Really looking forward to tuning in for this one! Thanks for sharing the knowledge Jeff!
You are very welcome and thanks a lot for watching it!!
@@whitetailhabitatsolutions9751 like the lords chicken employees say (chic-fil-a) .... my pleasure! Lol
In hopes of improving my 20 acres to hunt on, i added a 2 mock scrapes to the property using your guidance. Ive tried the scent drippers in previous years without seeing much at the scrape locations. Hoping they will acclimate and use the mock scrapes that I put in today. Unfortunately I found out tonight that I need to go back out there tomorrow and redo them. I tied them directly to the branch at the top instead of free hanging it from the rope. No big deal, its only 15 minutes away. Thanks for the detailed info on these videos about the mock scrapes.
Just started watching....really enjoying your videos.
Learning a lot.
Thank you from Ontario, Canada!
Between this video and your waterhole video I wish I can't wait until next summer to install a couple. I have 2 perfect locations in mind on opposite ends of my 20 acres. Thanks for sharing your knowledge.
You can hunt with vertical bow during the MN gun season.
Boy...I looked last season and could not find that you could. Didn't call anyone tho...
I hope so, that would be awesome!
I definitely understand confirming with CO/DNR. Thanks for another great video. I really appreciate the labeled drone images.
@@whitetailhabitatsolutions9751 Archery season doesn't close during the gun season, but I think you were in the part of the state that allowed a buck during gun/bow/muzzleloader, based on the weapon used. Prior to their CWD policies in the SE part of the state, tags were for the deer and licenses/seasons were based on the weapon, which is how it works throughout the rest of the state. If the goal was increased harvest as they say, it would've made more sense to just increase tags and let the hunters figure out the best tool to use.
@@whitetailhabitatsolutions9751 just put on your blaze orange on and have fun, Now crossbows can be confusing
Your video’s are the best on UA-cam
Thank you very much I really appreciate!
Once I can finally afford some land, buying your class will be part of my budget for the purchase
The mock scrapes worked for me. Our biggest buck on our lease came and licked our branch and peed in it a week after all our hunting buddies laughed at me for pissing in it. They aren’t laughing anymore!
You're editor is getting advanced with those animations. Very nice!
I like it when Dylan does that...really helps out a lot!!
@@whitetailhabitatsolutions9751 snapping things to objects is some cool stuff and can be really helpful in demonstrating concepts.
Thanks for all y’all do!
You are very welcome Brent!
Just had my first target buck show up on my new farm. Hit a mock scrape I made in mid-June per your instructions. Guessing he is roughly a 160”-170” buck. He is real nice! I know there is at least one other giant buck on the property, but hasn’t showed himself yet.
16:43 that little 4 point has a pretty cool looking rack. Obviously not a shooter yet but really neat looking
Great detail..much appreciated!!! In past vids you noted no reason to put a mock scrape on food plot as the deer are already coming to the food plot. Would you explain why you have them on the food plots. I think that insight would be helpful for those of us who follow your channel.
Jeff,
Our property is in northcentral PA with good diversity of habitat and following your videos has continued to improve it. Do you have any videos or thoughts with regards to hunting edges of beaver ponds? We've got mixed timber, conifers, and lots of regeneration and browse on all sides of the ponds.
In southeast Minnesota the Archery season does not close you can hunt right threw both gun and the Muzzle loader season with a bow.
Unfortunately I don't think you can use a vertical bow with your gun tag...just a Crossbow. I believe every other state you can.
My bow tag is usually filled by then.
Great video Jeff! Do you try and avoid mock scrapes on your access routes throughout property at all costs or just set them off the side of a 2 track road and not worry too much about it?
I’m almost certain unless something has changed recently that you can bowhunt during rifle season in Minnesota as long as you wear blaze orange. They have never closed bowhunting during rifle/shotgun season and then re open it after gun season is over. same as with bowhunting during the muzzleloader season.
Hi Grant...no vertical bow using your gun tag. Just about every other state you can hunt with a vertical bow while using your gun tag. Pretty sure that's the way it is?
@@whitetailhabitatsolutions9751 have to use bow tag. Can’t use gun tag. Sorry I didn’t specify.
Great explanation of set ups .
How did the cut cedar /mock scrape turn out? Just curious if it was still being used
I made a mock scrape off a trail on some new property and it hasn’t been touched. It sat for a couple weeks so I urinate in it. Still never touched. I have pictures of doe family 80 yards from it on a mineral block. Idk.
Great vidio.looks like you got all your bucks in a row😊 Jeff.
Thanks Norm 😁 Ha, I'm trying anyways!! Hope you have a great day!!
So Is the theme... Mock scrape, hidden stand, cut shooting holes and switch grass lmao. That's my goal!
Amen Joseph!!
You can use a cross bow with a gun tag or a bow with a bow tag during gun season.
Exactly...no vertical bow with a gun tag in MN unfortunately...although nearly every other state allows hunters too. Maybe some day they will wise up?
@@whitetailhabitatsolutions9751 you can hunt in the gun season with a bow & use your bow tag. Bow season starts September 18 & end December 31. It doesn’t say anywhere in the regulations that it shuts down for gun season.
I’ve watched the hunting public video with Ted Miller on how he uses sand and top soil for a mock scrape. Would that be any disadvantage then just using the soil that’s there?
Yes...it would be a disadvantage. Natural is always best 😉 Also an unnecessary waste of time...
Some things are cool to talk about online and even sound cool, but it always pays to practice what has been mastered for decades, over a whim of the moment that hasn't been practiced fully or stood the test of time.
@@whitetailhabitatsolutions9751 thank you very much for replying. That saves me a lot to headache. You have one of the best hunting channels out there!
@whitetailhabitatsolutions do you have any advice for those of us trying to set mock scrapes on public land? Using your principles of high traffic trails where they converge in the woods tucked away from major food sources, having it near a bow stand and throwing a trail cam on it, how do I keep other hunters away? I plan to set one in the northern lower peninsula in Michigan, but I fear when I set one in the Holly area you used to roam, the pressure of other hunters may spoil my efforts. Do you have any suggestions?
Would it be okay to put a mock scrape 100 yards apart and 2 different bow stands? 1 stand is in hard timber with ditch 30 yards away, the other is on edge of CRP with mineral
Can you make a video of some of your shooters for this year and there trail cam pictures,
You can bet we will! Likely more a Sept video buy we sure will!
Sir may I ask if you use scent to start the mock scrape & what kind?
Put up a mock scrape 2 days ago. It’s on an old logging road. With a trail coming out of a ravine.Cleared a tree for a stand .Should I put 2 stands for wind direction.Or just wait for the wind?I know it will drop in the afternoon.🤔🤔
Morning D! If you can blow your scent in 2 different directions safely, I like 2 stands a lot in a good pinchpoint or bench type setup...
@@whitetailhabitatsolutions9751 I’m thinking one for morning, and one for afternoon.Their are several hemlocks within 25 yards. It’s an X of movement. The crop fields are a half mile away. And bedding about 200 yards.I will do some more standing and stairing at the trees.Seems like I do that a lot!!!
Setting up trail plots is a necessity for me, what’s planted on there vs an open plot? Also when does the width/size of the trail plot start to make it a daily food source for doe? (Instead of a director of movement)
There is so much to figure out Colton! Size of overall plot and entire plot system, neighbors plantings, soil, planting equipment, time, money, # of deer, region, % of cover...I would be misleading you if I said to plant 1 certain thing 😬
On something small I like Layered rye or more basic annual plantings with a rye layering in Sept. If larger I go with my typical green blends best for your location.
Whitetail Habitat Solutions much appreciated, been confused on if layered rye was just for late season or not. My deer parcel plan has never looked better.
How close to mineral licks can you put a mock scrape or should you not put it anywhere near a lick ?
Where do you recommend putting a mock scrape in relation to a deer feeder?
I know it's 1 year after you did this video, but do you normally place watering holes on already used deer trails or do you place them where you expect deer to use based on contoure lines?
Hey Jeff, what type of licking branch do you use?
If you find natural scrapes that were made by deer would you set a bow stand over that rather than making a mock scrape?
Hi Joe! I determine my bowstand location...then add s Mock scrape in shooting range. I then get rid of any perennial scraped nearby that pull deer away from the scrape and line of movement I am watching. I never place a stand in an area based purely on the scrape...
That makes sense! I'm guessing you could reuse that existing licking branch at the new scrape site? Thanks for the advice and keep up the great content!
I live in Louisiana and where i hunt were overrun with hogs, so we typically dont plot. What could i plant that hogs wont typically destroy?
You can hunt with a bow during gun season in mn you always have
Pretty sure you can not hunt with a vertical bow in MN, with your gun license...like most every other state. You can with a crossbow tho...
No you have to get a bow license and a gun license and you can do what ever one you want
I hope Venti will be a state record and one of you guys get him
Now that would be nice 😁
@@whitetailhabitatsolutions9751 You guys deserve it you guys help out thousands maybe millions of people all the time
@@wilson5284 Maybe BILLIONS!!! OMG, MAYBE EVEN TRILLIONS!!!
Do you have a stand hight preference?
Did Kermit start to run before being hit by your arrow?
No...just after or about the same time the arrow was going thru him.
I had great luck with these mock scrapes last year, should i replace them every year with new vines?
Pretty sure not until their to high.
I'm going on three years with the save vines on my scrapes. No drop off in usage.
How far apart should scrapes be ? Thanks
Just 1 at every bowstand...
They say that 80% of the time mock scrapes happen at night is that true
“Like we are in Wisconsin and most normal states.” 😂😂
I think I’m in Jeff’s hunting zone in SE Minnesota. Our hunting regulations are a yearly legal document that leave most of us confused, frustrated, and misinformed too often. Antler restrictions in past years have helped incredibly so we obviously stopped that. I would love for Jeff to take over our local regulations.
Hi
👍
First comment!!! Love the videos and can’t wait for this fall!
