Good Grief (original song)

- My pastor passed by the end of Pride
after I was out with the band for a while
I had just landed at L.A.X. and checked my texts
I shook from what it read
I held back the tears until I left the line
and I broke down, I cried into July
I learned to believe in God
So I might believe in heaven
so I might see them again But good grief, it means you loved them
And you loved them ’til the end
Good grief, it means you loved hard
And just 'cause they ain’t here
doesn’t mean that the loving has to end
grandpa never said much
besides in dollars and cents
But everyone knew him
every place that he went
He was a man of Good, and a man of honor,
He worked hard until his last breath,
since his boat hit the harbor
And he taught me about Love
And How nothing's thicker than blood
And he made me so proud of what I come from
But good grief, it means you loved them
And you loved them ’til the end
Good grief, it means you loved hard
And just 'cause they ain’t here
doesn’t mean that the loving has to end
He stood about a foot tall, his legs were the grandest
He brought a soft howl, that pulled me from my sadness
We crossed the country, playing rock n’ roll songs
When I played the blues, he’d always sing along
And I still hear him every time the harmonica plays
Geoff got called to heaven, a week after grandpa went that way
But good grief, it means you loved them
And you loved them ’til the end
Good grief, it means you loved hard
And just 'cause they ain’t here
doesn’t mean that the loving has to end

Here's a song about losing my pastor, grandfather, and dog. It's called "Good Grief." I wrote a few days ago. I don't know if I should record it on an LP or not, so I at least wanted to put it here and get people's thoughts on it. Plus, the lyrics may help someone who is grieving. Last year around this same time, I lost my pastor, my grandfather, and my beloved dog Geoffrey. It happened in the span of a month and it broke me. I don't think I would have been ready to write this song any earlier than a few days ago. Grief can be really hard. Anyway, this one is for Pastor Dan, Grandpa, and Geoffrey and all the people who loved them too. ❤
Thank you so much for sharing this! It's beautiful, and will likely help many others in their grieving process. 🙏❤
Geoffrey was a great furball ❤

So beautiful
Is your voice deeper?
In this song yes, sometimes. I’m singing lower than I usually do. I have about a 3 octave range 😉
@@RyanCassata thank you! And also good luck :) 🙂
