  • Three for one! In this DIY video, I will take you step by how to create three beautiful amulet necklaces with all upcycled materials. Of course you will have your own yummy treasures and goodies to personalize and make your own. These necklaces have lots of names i.e. heirloom necklace, boho necklace, pouch necklace, medicine bag, pendant pouch and more. So many names and even more uses for these. You can carry a credit card, lipstick, keys, photo of a loved one, crystals, sage, rosary, letter, hankie and so much more. These make wonderful gifts and if you make to sell, these are fairly quick to make and at minimal cost. Have lots of fun and get as creative as you want!

    I love these so much. I'm going to make one for each of my siblings using some of our mother's jewelry that I inherited when she passed. I plan to give the amulets to each of them on our mother's anniversary in heaven. These are so awesome! Thanks!

      Do it! =)
      I made one a few years ago from old denim & lace. I added some hot-fix pearls & a tiny bit of sparkle. (So it's washable in a lingerie bag) I layer it with a x long chains. I never considered combining my jewelry making with sewing.
      This is perfect inspiration for an animal print version. I feel a new creation coming on....

    Thank you for being such an inspiration! I started sewing at age twelve and made most of my clothes and my mom’s too. I learned from a dear family friend and a couple aunts that were seamstresses to the 10th degree. Lots of your methods and tips are reminiscent of their guidance. I had stopped sewing due to poor vision and health issues. I’ve had eye surgery and vision is like you wouldn’t believe. With your inspiration, I am sewing again. Thank you, again!

    I really love these, but why not sew on the hanging necklace piece after its all done? The stitches would be hidden inside. Ty for this video👍 the 2nd is my fav!!!!

  • @mosart7025
    @mosart7025 6 місяців тому

    To save some time on hand stitching you can double thread your needle so you are pulling 4 strands instead of 2. Also, since the fabric seems loose woven maybe a second zig-zag stitch outside your main seam (closer to the raw edges)? It would be a shame if these little darlings frayed and fell apart!

    I love what you've made but an easier way to sew would be to sew lining to outside pieces at the top, put tabs at the side, and then, starting from the lining bottom, sew together in one long rectangle leaving bottom of lining open. Turn to right side and stitch lining bottom closed, push lining inside.

    Tracie, I LOVE your videos, I am getting started to make a Boho bag, I got a jacket on ebay for $5, with free shipping. That is for my Bag.. what a deal, lol. I was pissed when I saw that you tube may remove your videos. I watch your videos all the time and take notes. You are a GREAT TEACHER, Also I think someone who is Jealous of you said something. Because all of a sudden there are lots of women on line doing what your doing. I am not going to watch them, I love bell bottoms and those are my next project. I just will hate it and I will let youtube know if they let you go, because I think you are Fantastic. Keep your spirits Up Your my Prayers.. Linda

    Oh, my gosh. No kidding. These are absolutely fabulous. Without whining too much, my 20 yr craft collection, including my sewing machine, all tools, everything was ruined in storage -- there was a leak, mildew, mold on everything -- but it's just stuff; people lost their lives in the pandemic, so I'm slowly rebuilding my stash, but now I need to earn income for supplies -- nobody ever talks about the "how much would you sell it for" -- I'm working on building my little craft channel (I'd sub to your channel today, but I subbed immediately after watching your first video on the thread in the jeans leg video; genius! )-- what is a fair price to pay for these -- they are wonderful, and you have a great stash -- I'm so jealous, honestly -- any ideas, thoughts? But to be perfectly honest, I think I'd use them as decor most of the time -- If you did that, you could take some of the downy brand bead type fabric softener, it smells divine or you could use lavender and use it as both decor and room freshener -- it's so so cute -- thank you so much for sharing the creation process. It's why I love the youtube crafting community so much. So many uber talented people. Best regards, Patricia

      Love the air freshener idea!!!! Good luck rebuilding your supplies. I'm so sorry that happened, I bet you will have an abundance before you know it. I love that you will be doing a craft channel, please send me (us) your info when it's up and running. Best wishes, my friend🤗💖💕💞💓

    Good Morning Tracy, I Had bought a new Sewing Machine, and Learning to operate one is no picnic., I thought If I can drivw a car, I can operate a sewing machine.,.Yea, right Sewing machines are difficult to learn... You would be great if you began teaching online classes about sewing machines and how to use them and the stitches have to match the needle, etc.etc. for a fee..I know I would take them. Hint hint..Lol I have to admit I did check out some of those "up-cyclers" on youtube and some were really funny, and some put me to sleep. OK now I am serious, Not one of them that I watched had topped your items yet, well at least not at least what I sean!..Keep up your good work & videos, True fan Linda.K

    Did you know there is a special plier for opening split-ring jump rings? The pliers are not expensive, and come in REALLY handy when you are using those stronger splt-rings to join your jewelry elements.

    So maybe this is rude but I always wonder what you were charging for the bags and purses. I look at the cost of the jewelry and thrifted jackets etc and I feel like I couldn’t possibly get enough for them to pay for the materials and leave me enough profit to justify the time. Just curious as I enjoy making all your pieces but it gets expensive if I am not selling some. Thanks and sorry again if the question is rude.

    • @tmyershandmade978
      @tmyershandmade978  8 місяців тому

      Not rude😊 You definitely have to take into consideration your time and material. My purses typically sold for over $200 and quite often in the 300-400 range. With that being said, I was fast and could make a bag in a day, my materials were inexpensive and I had a large following that would by my items. Maybe try upcycling clothes, jeans are GREAT money makers. They are easy to find, inexpensive and can potentially sell for a lot. 🤗💕💕💕💕
