Hey Chrispy, When you went camping at Kroombit Tops campground, I saw you! I was the guy in the Austrack camper Telegraph X. Just wanted to say hi! I subbed btw
In your honest opinion, do you think a small camper like the patriot would be overkill for a solo camper? I've never been a fan of having my 4wd (my only car) fitted with drawer systems, water tanks etc as it just weights too much and kills boot space throughout the week. Would be so good to hitch up on a Friday arvo and just head off knowing everything is already packed in the camper. I also like the idea that if I get another car, my camping set up can remain the same
Depends on your budget. I wouldn’t get the X1 but the X1H or X1N. We should have got one of these as the X1 takes a bit of time to set up. Patriot is very good quality. I agree re the draw systems. Now we are looking for a small hybrid camper. Good to try different options to work out what works best for you. .
What's helping me justify my purchase is the fact I own a 4wd from the 90s, so I could have a camper and a 4wd for less than it'd cost to buy new car. I'm kind of leaning towards buying a trackabout, looks quick to set up from what I've seen online and you can unzip half of it so that no canvas is touching the floor, would make packing up so much cleaner in wet weather. The boat loader is pretty cool and the kitchen looks more usable too I've never towed anything off road before so that's another thing to consider aha. I'll be renting a patriot before I commit though, just so I know what I'm signing up for off road Appreciate you taking the time to reply, cheers
