Hi your locs are really pretty. Keep your locs moisturized at least 4 times out of the week. Make an easy spray of about 80% water and essential oils like (almond, grape, olive and/or castor oil). It's a nice light and easy daily spray that will not cause build up.If you dont maintain moisture properly the dryness will catch up with you and your locs will start breaking and popping out straight from your scalp and you will loose your edges. Tie your hair up at night with a satin scarf. A work around for your scarfs causing build up and lent is put a satin scarf kind of like a liner around your winter scarf so that your hair is ribbing against the satin vs the winter scarf material. Sending nothing but good vibes your way!
Always wear a Satin Cap (the kind you place on your hair when going to bed) under your Head Wraps or knit beanies. Keep knit or woven scarves away from your hair and neckline.
My length is exactly your length. The method I used was comb coils. You are awesome. I was born in Montreal but live in Ottawa. You are so relatable to me. Keep up the great videos!❤️
THANKS SO MUCH 😩 FOR THE LOVE! I'll be putting up more videos as of this week, but things with my hair have definitely changed a lot.. still loc'd though. lol
Try Neutrogena residue free shampoo. It's found in Walmart and or online. Idk if this is an option but you can try an undercut and or wear your hair up when you have clothes that shed alot.
Hmm.. I think I can offer some suggestions for the lint build up. And congrats on reaching a year! 1st: Go for yarn/materials that are tightly woven. Have you ever looked at the yarn strand and been able to count the number of "parts" in a stand? Like 2 strands, 3 strands, 6 strands, etc? I find that the smaller the number of strands in the yarn, the more likely it is to pill off and get in locs. You might still get some lint in your hair if you use a scarf with more strands, but it will be less than if you use a scarf with like 2 strands. I've noticed that yarn or fabric that has a loose knit will shed more than a tighter knit. 2nd: Wearing a headscarf made from jersey material or some type of knit fabric. I live in California and I went to visit Denver, CO during the winter and I knew the scarf I had would get in my hair. So to prevent that I went to the craft store, bought 2 yards of black jersey fabric, cut it into 3 equal-ish rectangles, and BAM. Three scarves that I can wear over my locs that is stretchy. I try to avoid satin because it makes my head sweat and itch because it isn't breathable. 3rd: Wear scarves that are already dyed black or match your hair color. 4th: Avoid arm-knitted items!! They shed sooooo much. They look cute though. I hope that helps!!
OMGAWSHHH😩🙏🏾✨ first THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR ALL THAT DETAIL!!! You may have saved my life. no lie. DEFINNITELY need to change my scarves.. the question is.. will a jersey style scarf be warm enough for -40 degree weather 😩, but either way, that strand count trick may help !!! Thank you!!!!
You're welcome! I don't think jersey is warm enough for Canada level cold LOL. But it is thin enough to wear under a hat or throw your hood over your head. Or wrap a scarf around your head!
You shouldn’t need to wash your hair that much.Aloe when retwisting. Rose Water and distilled in a spray bottle with a little Vitamin E Oil should be enough. She’s Moisturizer products cause a great deal of buildup
Really enjoyed your video! As far as suggestions for build-up, try bentonite clay. I've never had any real product build-up, but have noticed lent seems attracted to my nape locs. The clay pulls it to the surface. I've watched loc UA-camrs use it for product build-up with mostly favorable results. Also, you could try oils to moisturize (with water, rose water, aloe vera, etc, or just alone) & skip conditioners or leave-ins that are thick, white, &/or creamy as they can supposedly cause build-up, although I can't speak from personal experience on that aspect. I hope this is helpful! 😊
thanks so much for your feedback!! I'm nervous to try the clay, because I'm paranoid that it will just cause more buildup ahha but I'll probably try it sooner or later 😅

Darlene Jordan very true! Haven’t used it much as of late - but I have used it on my ends when I did.
Hi thanks for sharing with us! I’ve heard that if I start my locs with braids that I’ll eventually have to cut the braided part, is that true? Thanks!
No! The braid pattern will disappear eventually.
Great update. Congrats on being 1 yr. Ur locs are beautiful 😍😍
thanks so much!! I'm trying ahaha #hardtimes
