Actually I didnt see the guy swerving at all. He probably saw a bike flying behind him and decided to pull to the right to get out of his way. The biker decided to try to make content just to post. Soo typical of most of these guys who decide to put it on the internet

I always have to wonder if the guys submitting these videos ever even watch their own video. Justin's Garage annotates his video like he's an innocent bystander who evaded a sudden dangerous, villainous crazy man. When in reality he's doing 60mph in a 35 and attempts to pass a random person in the bike lane. Then he slows down to a stop, rev bombs them, swerves back and forth, drives 10-15 under the speed limit, then stares them down in an attempt to antagonize them. If I see your video and you "have to pass the dangerous person to save your life" I immediately know you're an idiot and the pass wasn't about saving shit but stroking your peen and showing the other person up. Makes no sense to ever put a "dangerous" vehicle behind you

But as it just started I do not think anyone would have said a damn thing about it. Sorry but if you want to call out that guys driving then you better ahve a perfect spotless record with never even topping the speed limit by more than 1 MPH. Yes, it was a sudden addition to the blinker but it was used and that is all that is legally required.

@Joe Tichenor not sure about Cali but here in Washington you cannot cross the solid double white line, it's illegal. You have to wait for an exit area to get out of that lane. It's marked with a broken single white line.
If I had the inability to read traffic and pay attention to what is going on around me, as so many riders in these vids do.

I Think the problem with cars riding past bikers in their lanes is, when a car sees a biker in lane 1 or 3, it appears the biker isn't in that lane of travel. And they pass thinking they have the lane to themselves. It's safer for a biker to stay in the center of the lane so the cars know they are actually in a lane
No idea why he'd be riding in lane position 1 anyway. All of the dirt is on that side of the lane.
Lane splitting brings extra responsibility and caution on the bikers part. You are small and often traveling at much higher speeds. Car drivers are just not aware you have moved into their blind spot. Stay safe bikers.

Huge respect to the biker at 3:55. I could not have stayed that calm to someone who intentionally rammed me off my bike. You could see the car driver inching closer when the biker approached and when he was beside the car, the car driver pushed him off. What a dick.
3:49 yeah it's legal, but they specifically advise you not to do it over 30MPH. it looks like the car believed the motorcyclist was going to let them change because he had just slowed down and then sped up again to pass.
Lane filtering may be legal under a certain speed, but lane splitting like he is at that speed definitely is not.
So if you're gonna do it, suck it up and know what happens is on you.
@@bacevs in CA, lane splitting is legal (as is filtering), but it's unclear whether it's legal to do it at speed. the CA DMV code only "recommends" you not do it at speeds greater than 30MPH, and never at speeds in excess of 10MPH over the speed of traffic. in any case, it was foolish and unsafe to do what he was doing, legal or not.
I was going to ask if it's legal at speed , in Australia splitting / filtering is legal under 30KMPH but not over .

The SUV swerving towards him was wrong, but stopping and antagonizing the guy instead of getting out of there makes the rider a complete dumbass. Everyone would be on his side if he just left after passing the guy.

While it's legal to lane split, isn't it only when traffic is stopped? I don't live in CA so I have no idea, but I thought you couldn't do it while traffic is moving.
Lane splitting is usually in motion, just at slower speeds. Filtering is when stopped at a stoplight or stop sign.
It can be done while traffic is moving at a slow pace, I believe its no greater than 30 or 35mph. Also the rider needs to be going at a responsible speed, not flying down the road.

Hey there, California based motorcycle rider here. Lane splitting is 100% legal here. At any speed. There are no stipulations or restrictions on it. However, speed limits still apply, so if you’re speeding you could be found liable in the event of a crash.
California Traffic Law states that Lane Splitting is done at Your Own Risk.

Moto Crimson, you need to slow down when splitting lanes. Traffic was way too open and your speed was inappropriate to the conditions. Glad you appear to be none the worse for wear.
Okay I think i need some clarification on lane splitting laws in states where it is legal... Is it legal to lane split at speed, or is it only legal to lane split below a certain speed? Or is it legal to lane split only between stopped traffic?
Looked it up. Lane splitting is only legal at low speeds or when traffic is stopped. So what biker was doing at 3:55 was illegal. Tired of seeing people abuse the lane splitting privilege and then blame their foolishness on others.

Lane-splitting may be legal in some areas, but that doesn't make it safe and smart! Common thread in so many of these vids. We all need to ride like we're hard to see!

Not sure what the settlement was for the crash at @4:00 because the biker IS at fault with the driver. If you notice, the biker is riding on a lane divider line when the collision happens and the biker picked up speed NOT giving the driver enough opportunity to ensure no one is next to his car. The driver is also at fault but it should be a shared blame, I think! The rider is clearly in shock and is unable to properly respond due to the lady when she asked "do you know where you are".
