Decent review and a compare/contrast to the style with a shredder hopper. Myself, I'd probably want one with a shredder hopper if it helps digest the vines and smaller stuff easier. Plus, the ability to shovel chips back in for another processing is good.
Thanks for the comment, I had a Troy Built with a Hopper a long time ago, the problem with the model I had it would shoot the debris at my feet so I'd have to constantly move it. This time I wanted something that would just shoot it over into the bin, made it lots easier for me. MCK
I have this exact model here in AZ and use it for all of my Mesquite and Palo Verde branches. This is difficult sometimes as the branches grow in all directions and I sometimes think I'd have an easier time putting a cat in a box but it gets used ALL THE TIME!! I was thinking it wouldn't get much use here in AZ on my acre but it does. Money well spent.
Very helpful video thank you for taking the time to help my buying decision. I need one in 2 days and I can only find this one at Lowes 1 hour away. I can get several models from Amazon but not until Monday which is 5 days. Unfortunately most of the stuff I need to make into mulch is of the nature of the small limbs and thank you for pointing out about the need for the hammers. I quest I will just have to wait for Amazon…
In my opinion this unit is best for home maintenance use, personally I would recommend getting something larger for commercial use. Hope this helps. MCK
@4 AM FARMS I think I'm going to get this due to the fact I don't do alot of tree work just occasionally hedge trimming and tree pruning so I feel getting a 5k commercial unit is a waste. Overall was a great video Edit I really need something small to dispose of the small tree waste while not spending hundreds on cost of a landfill
Sounds like a good plan, I got tired of trying to compost bigger debris so this has made my job so much easier. I look forward to using it a lot more. Thanks MCK
This model has pros and cons I have it. The cons are it’s powerful and does a good job the con tho is it’s dangerous, the moment you stick a branch in there it inhales the branch like a dog pulling you on his leash so make sure there’s nothing your arm or hand can get stuck on cus it’s pulling your arm in then
the thing I always want to see, which i hardly ever get to see on these type of things, is how fast it actually works in real time. not sped up. I think that's important to see. for instance a guy starts sawing a log in real time and then zip. as soon as he starts sawing he's done through the log. could have taken an hour or could have taken a minute. you never know.
I defiantly understand your wanting to see it in real-time, it took me about 2 hours to go from start to finish without the vines, since they were a tangled mess I wasn't able to get those shredded. Because of time constraints speeding up some of the footage had to be included. I'll try to remember your comment for future videos. Thanks MCK
@@4AMFARMS I appreciate your video and your response don't get me wrong. I learned some stuff. And I understand why people always ff the boring repetitious stuff. But if you could just go through 1 or 2 limbs and say this is what it looks like in real time so ppl get an idea of how long it takes I think that would be helpful to a lot of folks. Thank you very much!
Its a limited 2 year warranty. It excludes parts that are worn or damaged due to normal wear such as bearing, wheels, tires chipper knives and such. Warranty does not include the engine mounted on the product. Advice is to read the warranty thoroughly before purchase.
I personally don’t think you have felt out they chipper yet. I cut those all the time, put it in the shoot and then push it in with your next straight log. The shoot isn’t a huge so the reason it’s not going down is because it needs to be pushed into the grinding wheel with another branch. One the branch reaches the wheel it’ll pull everything in with it
I'll keep that in mind, those grape vines are ridicules and just wind around in circles. Other than that I'm happy with it for what I need. Any trees that are down I cut for my woodstove and smaller stuff for kindling. I've had bigger machines back in the day. that would definitely take an arm off MCK
@@4AMFARMS yea this machine is snippy too be careful with it. The min you stick a branch In the shoot it just yanks the damn thing in. If you have your arm caught on that branch your arm is going in with it so be careful with it. That’s the only thing I hate about this machine. It’s dangerous as hell
I have the exact same model chipper and it runs perfect. It always starts with one pull. You mentioned yours was surging. The motor is a Chinese clone of a Honda motor. I have a Simpson pressure washer with a Honda motor and the motor looks identical. The surging is almost always caused by a plastic orifice in the carburetor that can become plugged. It happened to my pressure washer. The fix is very simple. Unscrew one screw, remove the orifice, and poke out the hole with a wire brush wire. Reassemble and it should be good to go. If this does not fix it then you may need to take the carburetor apart and blow everything out with compressed air. Here is a video that shows how to clean out the orifice. ua-cam.com/video/JOI293d8XUg/v-deo.html
That's good information, I've been unable to work in the shop lately. I'll definitely give that a shot here soon and hope that it fixes the glitch. I was thinking that's what it might be. Appreciate your input.

It sure helps with so much around here too, the cost of the machine wasn't to bad and we work it hard around here as well. Lots of Juniper here.

Amazon or Lowes is fine. Get the Amazon Prime if you spend monthly, some things come in 1-2 days which is great and you don't have to travel to town.
Great for Grinding corn.
Never thought of that, feeding ?
Hey would you recommend the one you got or the curved tube one I'm in between I plan for using it on my yard and when needed for my lawncare business
In my opinion this unit is best for home maintenance use, personally I would recommend getting something larger for commercial use. Hope this helps.

Need to see it work in real time.
I can get to that soon, had some wind damage last week with some tree limbs down. I hope to get to it next week for ya. MCK
wish you had just done normal speed operation for awhile instead of the fast speed video.
Sorry it was just a long video, I think I have a short with normal speed.
