That mawashigeri to the head was absolutely beautiful. I'm not a Kyokushin student, but a Shotokan - I already know after that kick, I'd be out cold though. That was such good technique. It's pretty hard to get good technique in Kumite, so kudos to him.
A roundhouse kick is also in Tae Kwon Do and was a major knockout kick in the 90s. This kid had as crisp a technique as anyone I faced in the ring back them. Excellent technique with beautiful efficiency in the delivery.

It's because they fight bare knuckles; imagine what their faces would look like if they allowed it in competitions? I've seen their faces, and it's not pretty. I train in Kyokushin, and part of my training regime is to hit heavy bags and brick walls 3-5 times a week, bare knuckles. Just picture that.

In what universe "sparring" is putting 2 young practitioneers in a full contact match without proper protections? And Just HOW being knocked down with a hard roundhouse in less than a minute is considered helpful to make these young fighters improve?
Kick was solid. You could hear the thud as his shin made contact with the guy's head, and the guy went down immediately. That's a legit kick, and it can definitely be applied to.a.streetfight, provided he executes that with enough speed. Considering that to be a high kick to the head, he cannot be taking his time with the kick, it has to be fast. But the way he executed the kick here, that shit was beautiful to look. If he did that to a guy in a streetfight, chances are that guy will probably do down as well, just like his opponent here, 'cos the shin is really strong. After that, if he proceeds to pound him on the ground or kick the living hell out of him after, that's up to him, 'cos streetfights have no rules, and there are no referees who'll come in to stop the fight, like what you see here...lol
Seems odd they don’t wear head gear for sparring, seems unnecessary to cause long term damage for a sparring session. I guess they care more about tradition than they safety of their students.
I respect the art for sure. One thing confuses me. They allow kicks to the head and face in sparring, which are potentially and even usually more forceful than punches , but don't allow punches to the head and face. Can someone clarify this for me please?
The secret of ease of defense in any fighting style is the centerline.... when u know it's deeper secret possibilities will open up...and then you will know there truly is no difference between fighting styles they will seem the same
