i think this song sounds awesome, theyre straying from the hardcore sound to more of a thrash metal sound. I personally think it sounds awesome and hope they do more songs like this.
Even without screaming Trivium is so fucking incredible, It's amazing how they can still make a 100% pure thrash album, but then right after, make a 100% pure thrash album WITH screaming, amazing band :)

I know this comment is a year old but do you think The Crusade, particularly Detonation was too ahead of its time? I feel the fan base at the time we’re expecting Ascendancy Part 2. Detonation is such a badass song and it definitely stands out for its technicality and unique sound. When I first heard it however I didn’t like it ( I was still in a Killswitch/BMV phase) but after years of listening to black metal/death/extreme, I see the Crusade in a whole new light.
@@jayc9940 Not ahead of its time, but ahead of its fanbase. Their fanbase was very 1-dimensional to begin with, so the album would be under-appreciated no matter when else it would've come out. But you make a good point and I think it was a factor as well. Their fanbase at the time consisted of mostly teenagers and young people, and Trivium very likely was their first metal band they enjoyed so their first albums shaped their tastes in metal.
I still remember my jaw drop when I heard Matt sing clean vocals through out the whole song. At first, I was like "THIS SHIT IS SO BAD" then it slowly grew on me. Especially after I heard Entrance for the first time.
That is absolutely amazing. Yeah I don't know what he's thinking. Hopefully he'll realise by the next album, when he sings like that his voice is so good

I just purchased my first Trivium album, The Crusade. I really like these guys. I am glad they chilled out with the cookie monster vocals. I am going to pick up there latest release as well. Song 3 and 5 are the best on The Crusade. I believe song three is about Andrea Yates story.
@PITORCA matt's using a modded Dean 79 ML. Pickups are seymour duncan dimebucker in the bridge, and possibly a dean pickup in the neck. the hardware is modded to full black probably with an original floyd rose bridge, and dime traction knobs

I like it. I still prefer Trivium's heavier stuf with more screaming but this has awesome guitar solos like all Trivium's stuff so it's still good!
