@@lewisgrant7622 Well I think it was actually posted after before that. They had a website up where they posted the original, but the UA-cam upload was way later.
The very first RvD was the very first video I saw on youtube. It made me even more obsessed with filmmaking and my love for after effects. Thank you guys!! So cool to see new content.
Are you ever going to sell your custom saber hilts again? Unfortunately when I originally saw your video I was too late to purchase one because you had stop making them.
Seriously such impressive effects. Still holding out hope for another duel video one day, but these BTS videos of some of my favorite UA-cam videos ever uploaded are much appreciated
How is this 15 years old?! I remember rushing home from school knowing this was being released. I got home, waited forever for my laptop to load up and navigate to the early version of UA-cam to watch this….. I’m 30 now…..Christ!
I work at an Amazon warehouse. Sometimes I think how cool it would if RVD 3 was shot there. There would be so many interesting locations to shoot just within that one building. You guys would be using the glowing hilts that they use in modern day star wars to get the real practical light glows on camera.
The attention to detail is crazy, I would never have even thought about taking the time to do things like refelctions and distortion in glasses and such. Please do more!
The attention to detail in your work is amazing, especially like the way you use led sabers when it made sense but used carbon fiber blades as for the heavy lifting. Good job 👏
I know absolutely nothing about visual effects, but the sheer levels of dedication and attention to detail you went through in making this video is incredibly inspiring.
I remember watching this when it first came out, and even today its an amazing achievement! So great to learn how you did things all these years later.
I had a lot of fun with your lightsaber fights as a youth and appreciate you sharing my video "Strength of the Force", which was set to your music, in 2009. Cheers
Fun fact: In the season 2 finale of Mandalorian, there's a single shot of Luke using a shortened LED 'hero' saber where they, for whatever reason, just didn't composite the glowing blade into the shot. It jumped out at me the second I saw it.
You guys did that with Master Replicas ? That’s insane. I had a 2005 MR Darth Vader .. hopefully you guys didn’t get dead spots on your blades. I’ve since upgraded to Ultrasabers 🎉
As a kid I was impressed with your lightsaber skills, as a grown man I'm far more impressed with your vfx skills.
Especially considering they did this in the 90s and early 2000s. VFX was a billion times harder to do back then than it is now.
@@memesouls8653 this was in 2008 so over 15+ years ago. For the time this was impressive and it still is

I love how the basis for alot of these special effects was "Let's show those critics what special effects really are"
Awesome stuff! I bought the DVD back in the day, but it'll be cool to have this out for everyone now.
These effects still hold up really well today... Well done.
They really do!
Even more than 10 years later, this is impressive. Like, ‘wish I could’ levels of impressive. Thanks for the breakdown.
Truth
You and this film inspired me to be a filmmaker . Thanks Ryan Wieber.
You guys are literal freaking geniuses, what you guys were able to do at the time is still phenomenal to this day!!!
Also... Holy crap, so much practical stuff in this film, you really went out for it back in 2007! Outstanding dedication

Man that was nostalgic as hell.

Really? Wow. It's been a while. Welcome back.

I wish so much to see Ryan vs Nate someday... Would pay for this.

This was an amazing film for what you guys had back in those days. My son and i want to film something similar but the task seems so huge
You guys have inspired me from childhood to adulthood. Thank you so much for this effects breakdown!
Did you guys get jobs at ILM after this??? The VFX work is absolutely exceptional, as well as the meticulous shot planning and practical FX elements.
RvD3 confirmed? I want to believe!

3D text in After Effects way before Element 3D. Nice :)
You should make a lot of video tutorials about this video.
A rotoscoping app would be game changing.... hint hint nudge nudge...
I would not be a VFX artist myself now if it were not for early day UA-cam, and especially these fights.
Ryan why do you lose ever fight?
Better than Disney
These are better than anything Disney has ever done
