Saw Les Mis for the first time with this cast in 2011 when I was 12 (caught the thespian bug early) since then I have seen the west end version two more times and seen the movie. In my opinion our of the three casts I've seen. This was the strongest and most amazing to listen to. This show has encouraged me to start in amateur performances and 6 months after seeing this I sang solo in front of 1500 in a theatre. It is all thanks to this and my thespian mum😃.
Sorry to bother you again, But Cosette is played by A J Callaghan and Valjean is played by Johnathan Williams who was understudy to Alfie Boe. I asked a friend who has seen the show like a million times and knows nearly all there is to know about the show.
Okay so a) I found this less than 3 days ago and have already watched it like a million times, I can't get it out of my head!! b) This is by far probably the best version I've found on UA-cam, don't @ me. Then c) the cast is just brilliant!! Samantha is great as always, the Jean val Jean fits the role so well, the Cosette has such a beautiful and dreamy voice, the Javert has such good diction and all, the Thénardiers fit so well together and just LOOK the part, the Enjorlas' entrance is so perfect and his voice is amazing and he goes strong throughout the entire song. But also like the Marius, damn! I'm almost in love with his voice. His dynamics are great, especially that mezzo devoche on "today" and "parted". I know that's not everyone's opinion, but I think it's great!!
Killian Donnelly as well. Actually the whole cast is amazing people tend to like Norm and Samantha because they are used to listening to them as they performed the 25th concert
I am rather saddened that people are trashing AJ Callaghan and her singing voice. She must have been good enough for the producers and the casting director to hire her.
Hey People i have a serious Broadway addiction. Half of my iTunes library is just Les Miserables, Miss Saigon, The Lion King, The Phantom of the Opera and many more Does any one else have this addiction?
Gareth Gates has never been my favorite Marius, but Killian playing Enjorlas is goddamn incredible. Samantha Barks and Norm Lewis are great as always, and Johnathan Williams was pretty good, his voice is very similar to Alfie Boe's, so I can see why he was his understudy.
Sorry to disagree, but Jonathan Williams was nothing like Alfie, thank goodness, Jonathan sang like a musical theatre singer not an Opera singer, and he was a much better actor.
So you don't like it because you interpreted it as literal jazz/square marching? I mean, OK...I guess you can literally see it as such and then I could see how you'd think it's odd. But those of us with a sense of theatricality see nothing more than a clever way to simulate a triumphant, continuous march towards tomorrow. There IS limited space in the theatre, ya know. =P
@LaMisereHQ I've been a ballet dancer for 14 years.... Trust me I know about theatricality movement. Also I didn't say I didn't like the performance because I still like it btw. Also I already understood the symbolism of them stomping in place. I came out here to have a good time and I'm honestly feeling very attacked right now.
I was SO happy when I saw they were doing the jazz square(ish) march in this version! That's what I remember from Broadway and traveling Les Mis shows in the early 90's. When I've seen it recently they don't do that anymore and it's just not the same. I picture that choreo exactly everytime I hear this song so to not see it on live is so disappointing 😢
I love this song, but the weird pacing back and forth move they do can never not be funny to me. I even wanted to laugh at this part when I saw it live!
Ah, a theatre rookie. That funny, weird pacing back and forth is a mimicking of continuous movement that can easily be done on film but not on a live, static stage so they create the illusion of marching continuously by doing this movement. I bet you interpreted as some silly little dance. You look at it that way, and of course it's funny. Most theatre novices interpret that as the cast getting down and doing a lil jig. *sigh* lol.
*obsessively watches Samantha the whole time*
I absolutely love Sam Barks as Eponine. And that Javert is just amazing.
Both from the 2010 25th Anniversary Concert of Les Miserables
Samantha Barks=Flawless
This cast has to me the best Javert and the best Eponine!
Both from the 2010 25th Anniversary Concert of Les Miserables
NewElizaD
I very much agree!
Samantha Barks is Eponine!! XD
As usual I couldnt take my eyes off samantha barks... she stole the show!! 3 I love you sam (eponine)
Nicole Whinnett
It seems like Epoine often steals the show.
There is one rule of this song.Unless it is impossible Gavroche gets on Grainatres shoulders.
When I saw this in West End, when the Thenardiers popped out I burst out laughing.

By far one of the best (if not THEE BEST) version of "One Day More" on youtube. (The movie interpretation is also a very good one) GO EPONINE!!!!
Sam is the best one
Les Miz is awesome. No argument. No exceptions.

NORM LEWIS NORM LEWIS NORM LEWIS
Great cast in Les Miserables in London in 2011 with Gareth Gates, Samantha Barks and Norm Lewis
The revolting staging in original production is god tier.
Great as always.
Me too esp. Eponine's pose it sends the "don't mess with me message" I think
Is there a full show of this cast? because Samantha barks is my favourite Eponine

KILLIAN HELLS YEAH
Ok thank you!
Norm Lewis best there's been
Killian Donnelly as Enjorlas!!! He is the best Valjean and Enjorlas!
The Cosette is really small. Is Killian Enjolras only it sounds like David Thaxton time and Norm Lewis and Sam Barks = perfectioon
Is that Killian Donelly as Enjolras?
Genial!!!!!!!
Is there a full version somewhere?
Do anyone know where to find the full show??
FUCKING CRYING AT 3:12 am
mushypea328
No that's AJ Callaghan.
2020?
Is that Katie Hall playing Cosette?
No it's not. That's AJ something, she's not very good in my opinion. Srry about all the posts, crappy phone.
I Think Killan Donnely
@Antony Baker
Hi
Who are Valjean and Cosette here?
Jonathan Williams is Valjean
Whos playing Jean valjean
Jonathan Williams
well, in my opinion the movie one's the best. agree with you, go eponine, go samantha!
kinda wish they wouldn't have done the weird walking/jazz square/marching thing but even with it it was really great (:
So you don't like it because you interpreted it as literal jazz/square marching? I mean, OK...I guess you can literally see it as such and then I could see how you'd think it's odd.
