“Comparison” is an easier word for me to grasp than “correlation” has been.

I used to be the Director of Program Analysis somewhere. They are different, but either is useful to the understanding what is going on.

What if the records are in agreement, but they are not independent?

Of course, that is why you have to know which is the original.
