for everyone wondering, "stripped" basically means it's a toned down, moodier version of the original. instead of a sub 128bpm house track it's basically just piano and airy synths with minimal percussive efforts to better emphasize the vocals. should also note that the chord change is f# to g# to a#m throughout whereas the original focuses more on beginning the verses with the a#m and transitioning to g# and then f#; reversing the chord progression seemed to aim the song to create a different listening anticipation and a more morose phrase resolution

It's almost sad, but it's kind of a happy song. Makes me feel weird AF. Great song tho.
Yeah. Beautifully composed, well thought out music that makes you appreciate the beauty of this art form, and emotional lyrics that ram into your tired soul and tear it to pieces really can affect a person's emotions, heart, mind, and soul, and even body, in an undescribable way. It can change you and make you cry both out of compassion for what the singer or lyrical character must be going through and out of pure joy that something this complex, beautiful, and artful exists. At least that's how I feel about this kind of music. I just want to close my eyes and soak in it's depths and just be present with the moment and what I have in life. This feeling then carries on throughout most of the day, even if something negative happens. I've even cried to instrumental songs before and had the same feeling.

I feel this song is about being with someone that has depression, sung from the perspective of their partner. You are able to hear the sadness, "everything is blue his pills, his hands, his jeans." You're able to hear the despair, "everything is gray, his hair, his smoke, his dreams" You're watching the person you're in love with lose themselves and there isn't anything you can do to save them.

It feels like halseys true style is hidden behind all these layers of regurgitated pop, so it's nice to hear a stripped version. I think development will come with simplification, and that we're hearing more of halsey's real voice in this.
